Kwasniewski Finishes 11th at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (September 6, 2014) – The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) made its second and final stop of the 2014 season at Richmond International Raceway for the Virginia529 College Savings 250. Dylan Kwasniewski and his No. 31 Rockstar Energy Drink team were looking for redemption and a solid finish in the young rookie’s second NNS start at the 0.75-mile short track. After running top-10 speeds in both practices, Kwasniewski qualified 10th in NASCAR’s rain-shortened knockout qualifying session. After fighting a loose racecar and working his way back onto the lead lap during the first portion of the race, Kwasniewski crossed the finish line in the 11th position.

Following the drop of the green flag, Kwasniewski survived an early caution on lap three and settled into the top 15 for a long green-flag run to start the race. By lap 33, while running in 13th, Kwasniewski reported to crew chief Shannon Rursch that his Rockstar Energy Drink Chevy was free everywhere. Battling a loose racecar, Kwasniewski went a lap down on lap 67 and was scored in the 16th position when the second caution of the night came out on lap 74. During the caution, Rursch called Kwasniewski down pit road for four tires, fuel and a big adjustment to help tighten up the Rockstar Energy Drink Chevy. Restarting 16th on lap 80, Kwasniewski received the free pass and gained his lap back when the third caution of the night came out on lap 85. With nothing to lose, Rursch again called Kwasniewski down pit road for four tires and a splash of fuel. Following the restart on lap 90, Kwasniewski worked his way to 13th by lap 144 and survived two more late-race cautions on his way to crossing the finish line in the 11th position

Dylan Kwasniewski on Racing at Richmond:
“Tonight was a solid night for our Rockstar Energy Drink team. [Crew chief] Shannon [Rursch] and the guys worked really hard back at the shop during a short week to give me a solid piece to race. We just battled a loose racecar to start the race, but Shannon made great calls on pit road and really got our car dialed in for the second half of the race. We will take this 11th-place finish and move on to Chicagoland next weekend”.
