ADVANCE NOTES

·         Reed at Chicagoland Speedway

o   Ryan Reed will make his second NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.  In his first start, coming earlier this season, Reed started 14th and finished 15th.

o   Reed also has one start in the ARCA Racing Series at Chicagoland Speedway, coming in 2012, where he started fourth and finished fifth.

·         The Car

o   The No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes team will race Chassis RK-827 for the fifth time this season.  This chassis previously raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (15th), Darlington Raceway (13th), Michigan International Speedway (11th) and Chicagoland Speedway (15th).

·         Riding with Ryan

o   Reed has a special guest riding along with him during Saturday’s NNS race at Chicagoland Speedway.  The No. 16 Ford Mustang will carry Rachel Janovsky’s name above the passenger side window.

o   Janovsky was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2004.  However, she refuses to let diabetes derail her goals.  Instead, she has dedicated herself to her studies and her role as an American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador.  Eighteen-year-old Janovsky has flourished as a camp counselor at the American Diabetes Association’s Camp Discovery for four years, while also volunteering as a moderator through the Caregiver Program.  In addition to her public speaking roles as a Youth Ambassador, Janovsky also informs the public about diabetes through her blog.  Aside from her responsibilities as a student and her duties as a Youth Ambassador, Janovsky participates in an all-girls show choir, is the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper and competes in beauty pageants.

o   “It’s awesome to have another Youth Ambassador from the American Diabetes Association on the car this weekend,” said Reed.  “The whole purpose of the Drive to Stop Diabetes platform is to show people living with diabetes that it doesn’t have to change your goals.  It’s so inspiring to continue to find Youth Ambassadors like Rachel that exemplify that message so well.”

·         Visit the American Diabetes Association’s Drive to Stop Diabetes Midway Display

o   Drive to Stop Diabetes presented by Lilly Diabetes will host an activation space in the fan midway at Chicagoland Speedway.  The display area features the No. 16 Drive to Stop Diabetes racing simulator, diabetes awareness and educational materials as well as various prizes.

o   Reed will appear for a Q&A at the Drive to Stop Diabetes display on Saturday, September 13 from 10:15 – 10:30 a.m. CT.

·         Recapping Richmond International Raceway

o   Reed piloted his No. 16 Ford Mustang to a 16th-place finish in last Friday night’s NNS race at Richmond International Raceway after battling a tight car for the majority of the 250-Lap event.  With the result, Reed remains ninth in the NNS point standings.

QUOTE WORTHY

Reed on racing at Chicagoland Speedway:

“I’m really looking forward to Chicago this weekend.  It’s a track that we ran pretty well at earlier this season, and I feel like I learned a lot as a driver.  I know the guys in the shop are working hard to prepare a fast Drive to Stop Diabetes Mustang and I’m just ready to go racing.”
