Charlotte Motor Speedway
Bank of America 500 | October 11, 2014
Back at Charlotte…Justin Allgaier will make his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) on Saturday night. In his first NSCS start at the 1.5-mile speedway in May, Allgaier’s night ended with a 37th-place finish due to a part failure. Allgaier has 11 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) at CMS, with two top-five and six top-10 finishes, along with six laps led. Steve Addington, crew chief of the No. 51, has one win at Charlotte with Kurt Busch in 2010.
Meet Justin…On Saturday, October 11 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. EDT, Allgaier, along with Kyle Larson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Josh Wise, will sign autographs at Plan B Sales. Plan B Sales is located at 390 Industrial Court, Concord, N.C. 28025.
Kansas II Recap…Allgaier’s third NSCS race at Kansas Speedway unfortunately ended prematurely due to an accident. Even though the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy was brought to the garage early, Allgaier’s weekend was going smoothly until that point. He completed all three practice sessions and qualified 21st for the Hollywood Casino 400. He consistently reported all weekend that the BRANDT Chevy handled really well and only needed minor tweaks. With the accident ending Allgaier’s day early, he was scored in the 41st position in the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports.
Sunoco Rookie of the Year…After graduating to the NSCS this season, Allgaier is competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy. In 2009, Allgaier took home the Rookie of the Year title in the NNS. After Kansas, Allgaier is currently third in the standings, behind Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.
Justin Allgaier on Charlotte Motor Speedway:
“I’m ready for Charlotte [Motor Speedway] for several reasons. I get to sleep in my own bed, a lot of friends and family come in town, and I’m ready to move on from Kansas [Speedway]. Hopefully Saturday night’s race will be a little better to me than the Charlotte race earlier this year. This will be my second time there in the Sprint Cup car, so I know what to expect now with the track. Now I just need to provide good feedback to Steve [Addington] and the guys so they can make the right adjustments.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Charlotte Motor Speedway:
“Every race is important, but there’s always a little bit extra emphasis on Charlotte [Motor Speedway] because we are so close to all of the race shops. Justin has progressively gotten better at the mile-and-a-half tracks so I expect to have a good weekend. We just need a weekend without getting caught up in someone else’s mess. The more track time he gets, the more he learns obviously. So in preparation for next year, making as many laps as he can is really key.”
