The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

. Joey Logano will be making his sixth start this weekend at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway. At a track that he considers one of his most difficult, Logano went out and conquered his own personal Mt. Everest by leading laps on six different occasions before settling for a fourth-place finish in the AAA 500 in November.

. About last weekend: Logano and The Home Depot Team were headed for their first top-10 finish of the season at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday. An untimely caution with 35 to go caught the No. 20 Toyota a lap down following a green-flag pit stop while running in the eighth position. After restarting from the 18th position, Logano and the team rallied to pick up five spots in the closing laps to finish 13th.

. The Home Depot Team moved up two spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings following its 13-place finish last weekend. The team and Logano sit 46 points outside the top 12, the current cut off for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

. Welcome aboard The Home Depot associates from store #6513 from North Frisco, Tex. The store number will ride along with Logano this weekend on the rear quarter panel of The Home Depot Toyota. Frisco, one of the fastest growing cities in Texas, is a suburb of Dallas.

. The No. 20 Home Depot Team is taking chassis #297 to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the Samsung Mobile 500. The team utilized this chassis at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this season. A late-race tire violation with 25 laps to go dropped the team out of the top 10 and into the 23rd position at the Nevada track. The back-up chassis is chassis #284 which Logano drove last year at Auto Club Speedway to an 11th-place finish and at Phoenix International Raceway in November to third.

Logano Quotes on Texas Motor Speedway:

“Texas was only one of those tracks that I just struggled at and had no idea why. People try and tell you it’s like Charlotte, but I assure you it’s not. Charlotte has always been one of my best tracks and until last fall Texas was one of my worst. Last fall I was kind of expecting to be happy with anything around a top-10 finish and thought that would be a good day for us. Then all of a sudden I was in the lead and I was leading laps. I thought that was pretty cool was like, ‘who would’ve thought that here.”

“It’s a really fast track and the Joe Gibbs Racing cars have done well as these types of tracks recently. Hopefully The Home Depot Team will have a solid weekend and continue to work our way up in the points. Plus, I enjoy Saturday night racing so I’m looking forward to this weekend.”
