Grand Home Furnishings Renews As Official Provider of Grandfather Clock Trophy

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (March 19, 2015) – Martinsville Speedway and Grand Home Furnishings, two companies with long and storied histories and deep Virginia roots, are continuing their long-standing relationship.

Roanoke-based Grand Home Furnishings, which has long been the source of the iconic grandfather clock winner’s trophy, has extended its status as the official provider of the grandfather clocks.

Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell made the announcement today.

“One of the things that I think is so unique about it is that this track has a family history. The Campbell family is still involved,” said Steve Davis, vice president of marketing. “Our company, Grand Home Furnishings, is a family business. It’s been in business for 104 years. We have our third-generation running the company now. We always find those kinds of partnerships interesting and enjoyable. “

This marks the 51st year the track has given a grandfather clock to the race winner. Fred Lorenzen took home the first clock in 1964. Since then the clock has found its way into the homes of the sport’s biggest stars. Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are just some of the drivers who have taken home multiple clocks. Most recently Dale Earnhardt Jr. added his name to the list of clock owners, with his win last fall.

“Martinsville Speedway prides itself on its southern Virginia roots. Whenever we can find a partner that shares the same heritage is great not only for us, but the Commonwealth of Virginia,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “Grand Home Furnishings is a company based out of Roanoke, just an hour up the road from us. The fact that they remain locally-owned and family-operated makes it even better.”

Racing action returns to Martinsville Speedway March 27-29 for the STP 500 race weekend.

Advanced ticket prices start at $45.

Ticket prices increase the week of the race.

Tickets to the Virginia Lottery Pole Day on March 27, the Kroger 250 Camping World Truck Series race on March 28 and the STP 500 Sprint Cup Series race on March 29 can be purchased by calling 877.RACE.TIX or online at www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
