Late On-Track Accident Shortens Brian Scott’s Day at Dover International Speedway

Brian Scott welcomed partners ACME and Kraft Singles on board his No. 33 Chevrolet for his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Dover International Speedway on Sunday afternoon. The Idaho native started 26th and finished 38th in the FedEx 400 presented by Autism Speaks following a late-race incident at the “Monster Mile” concrete oval. Scott battled a tight-handling condition during a long, green-flag run early in the race, causing him to fall two laps down to the race leader. When the caution flag was displayed on lap 165, Scott elected not to pit and take the wave around to regain one lap. The field restarted on lap 168 with Scott in the 23rd position. Long green-flag racing resumed again and on lap 248 the leaders hit pit road for service. The No. 33 team had strategy on their mind and elected to stay out. This allowed the ACME/Kraft Singles machine to return to the lead lap when the caution flag was displayed on lap 260. Scott restarted 13th with 133 laps to go. A vibration in the No. 33 Chevrolet caused Scott to drop to the 19th position on lap 275 and visit pit road under green-flag conditions for four fresh Goodyear Racing tires and fuel on lap 310. Sliding back into the 24th position, down two lap to the leader, Scott continued to battle through the field for the remainder of his 11th Sprint Cup Series race. With 24 laps to go, Scott was racing in the 18th position when he got collected in an on-track accident that ended the day for the No. 33 ACME/Kraft Singles Chevrolet team.

Brian Scott Quote:
“That was an extremely unfortunate ending to our day. We had a great group of partners here with us today in ACME and Kraft. I apologized to Kyle Busch, his team, sponsors, fans and all of Joe Gibbs Racing. I didn’t know he was underneath me until it was too late.”
