CHASTAIN FINISHES 10th AT DAYTONA

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Ross Chastain, celebrating the Fourth of July with a patriotic paint scheme, had even more to celebrate after Saturday night’s race at Daytona International Speedway.

Chastain turned in one of his best performances of the Xfinity Series season, finishing 10th in the Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona.

The finish gave Chastain, driving the Watermelon.org Chevrolet, excellent bookends this year at Daytona. He finished ninth – his best run of the season – in the schedule-opening race in February at DIS.

“Just a great night,” said Chastain, who started 34th. “We had a beautiful race car tonight, and it ran strong. Great to get a big finish for all the watermelon farmers out there, too.”

Chastain gained one spot in driver points to 14th.

Austin Dillon won Saturday’s race, and Chris Buescher finished 12th to keep the point lead.

The series races next at Kentucky Speedway July 10.
