An Early Flat Tire Leaves Wallace and the No. 6 Team 23rd in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (July 26, 2015) – In his first visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Roush Fenway Racing’s Bubba Wallace suffered a flat tire early in his No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Mustang. The team was unable to overcome the lost lap, ultimately finishing the day in 23rd.

After practice times in the top-12 in Friday’s two practice sessions, Wallace posted the 23rd quickest lap in Saturday morning’s qualifying session.

From the drop of the green, Wallace reported that his Mustang lacked front turn and also felt as though the splitter was hitting the track surface.

On Lap 12, the caution flag flew with Wallace’s No. 6 Mustang suffering a flat right front tire.

Wallace made his way down pit road for four tires and fuel along with spring rubber and track bar adjustments, ultimately losing one lap to the race leaders.

The No. 6 Ford Mustang lined up 35th for the restart on Lap 17. Shortly into the run, Wallace radioed that his car was still tight.

When the caution flag flew again on Lap 23, Wallace made his way down pit road for four tires, fuel and another track bar adjustment on Lap 27.

As the race approached halfway, Wallace continued to gain back the lost positions, advancing to 24th by Lap 64.

Wallace continued to fight to gain back the lost ground, however, the lap deficit proved too much to overcome. Wallace and the No. 6 team closed out the day with a 23rd-place finish.
With the result, Wallace remains sixth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings, as the series travels to Iowa Speedway.
