Points Leader Buescher Finishes 16th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS (July 26, 2015) – In his second NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Chris Buescher battled a No. 60 Zest Ford Mustang that started too loose and ended too tight to finish 16th. With the finish, Buescher maintains his lead in the driver point standings.

“I felt we were getting a little better in the middle of the race and for whatever reason that last run was a lot tighter,” said Buescher. “It might have just been a bad set of tires, but we couldn’t do anything with it. We had a lot better car than that at a lot of points during the race.”

After advancing to the second of two rounds of qualifying Saturday morning, Buescher would start the 100-Lap, 250-Mile race from 12th.

During the opening run of the race, Buescher settled into 15th, informing his team that his Zest Mustang was too free.

Crew chief Scott Graves called Buescher down pit road for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment under a Lap 13 caution.

The sophomore in the NASCAR XFINITY Series lined up 16th for the restart, advancing to 13th when the caution fell just six laps later.

Close to the fuel window, Graves called his driver down pit road on Lap 27 for a fuel-only pit stop.

After restarting 12th on Lap 29, Buescher again radioed to the team that he needed his Mustang to be a little tighter.

As the run progressed, Buescher’s Mustang tightened up just a little bit. When he came down pit road under the green flag for a scheduled pit stop on Lap 64, Buescher and the No. 60 team took four tires, fuel and a slight track bar adjustment.

The caution flag flew just six laps later. Graves opted to leave his driver on the track, restarting sixth. A tight Mustang and fresher tires on the cars behind Buescher would leave the team with a 16th-place finish.

With the result, Buescher holds a 25 point leader over Chase Elliott in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings, as the series travels to Iowa Speedway, where Buescher won earlier this season.
