ADVANCE NOTES

Buescher at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Roush Fenway Racing’s Chris Buescher makes his second NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend.  His previous start which came last season resulted in Buescher’s first win in the series.

Buescher has five road course starts in the ARCA Racing Series, earning one win (Road America; 2013) and three top-fives, while leading 17 laps.

Last Year at Mid-Ohio

A dominant car combined with a winning fuel strategy led the No. 60 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Ford Mustang to victory lane in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 last season.

Buescher qualified fifth, and ran in the top-five for the majority of the afternoon.  After late race pit stops cycled through, Buescher found himself with a 20-second lead over the field.  The lead was erased when the caution came out on Lap 70.  Crew chief Scott Graves gambled and decided not to visit pit road.  Buescher led the remaining 20 laps en route to his first NNS victory, leading a grand total of 25 laps in the 90-lap race.

Patient Champion

William Schaefer of Lexington, Ohio will serve as the 2015 Patient Champion on the No. 60 Zest Mustang.  Fourteen-year-old Schaefer is currently undergoing treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Throughout his treatment, William has kept a positive attitude and continues to participate in his favorite activities, including fishing and riding his dirt bike.

On the Car

The No. 60 Ford Mustang carries the Zest colors this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  Zest has been keeping families Zestfully Clean for over half a century.  Zest falls under the Brynwood Partners umbrella, along with Bit-O-Honey, which has appeared on Buescher’s car multiple times this season.

Recapping Watkins Glen

Buescher ran solidly inside the top-five for the majority of last Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Watkins Glen International.  Buescher was able to navigate several late race cautions to finish third in his Ford EcoBoost Mustang, the highest finishing XFINITY Series regular.

QUOTE WORTHY

Chris Buescher on racing at Mid-Ohio

“Mid-Ohio is a track that we have been looking forward to all year.  There is a little extra pressure coming off of last year’s win, but we have really good notes and I know we will have a fast Zest Mustang.  We have good momentum leaving the Glen and we just need to keep that rolling into the next few months.”
