Road-course races make up a relatively small part of the Monster Energy Cup Series schedule, but when Paul Menard and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team take the green flag for the Bank of America Roval 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway it will be the team’s 100th Cup start on a road course.

We have been super killer on the road courses! We’ve got AJ Allmendinger, my lovely teammate, back this weekend in the No. 10 car. I’m excited to see what speed we’ve got this week. It’s a playoff race. Richmond did not quite go our way, but we had a really fast Chevrolet, so as long as we bring that speed and have a little luck, we should have a solid finish this weekend and possibly a win."
Charlotte (Bank of America ROVAL 400) Preview: The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will come home to North Carolina for the third race of the Playoffs and the final event in the Round of 16. Charlotte Motor Speedway will host the series on its “Roval” (road course and oval hybrid) course on Sunday, Sept. 29. Denny hopes to keep his momentum going as he moves into fifth in overall points.
This Saturday, AJ Allmendinger will make his final start of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season with Kaulig Racing and the No. 10 team at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Joining him will be partner Digital Ally, a provider of professional grade video solutions and software management to commercial fleets, event security and law enforcement.
JRM on Road Courses: In 109 starts on road courses in the NXS, JRM has earned four wins, 26 top fives and 55 top 10s. Ron Fellows and Regan Smith earned the organization’s first two road course victories at Montreal in 2008 and at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in 2015, while Justin Allgaier went to Victory Lane at Mid-Ohio and Road America last season. In four previous starts at the Roval, JRM has scored a best finish of ninth.
Leavine Family Racing announced earlier today that Christopher Bell will drive the No. 95 Toyota Camry in the 2020 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. DIBENEDETTO BY THE NUMBERS: With the ROVAL’s debut in 2018’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule, DiBenedetto started the event from 28th and drove to a 13th-place finish. The 2019 season road course events have been some of DiBenedetto’s best races of the year with him earning a fourth-place finish at Sonoma Raceway in June (a career-best finish at the time) while Watkins Glen International say DiBenedetto finish sixth in August.
John Hunter Nemechek and GMS Racing will utilize chassis no. 214 this weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL. This chassis has been run two times this season by Nemechek. Once at Watkins Glen International (start: 20th/finish: 12th) and at Road America (start: 14th/finish: 26th).
