William Byron, driver of the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro, claimed the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) championship with a third-place finish in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. His title, the first for Byron and second in the past four seasons for JR Motorsport co-owners Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., marks Chevrolet’s 19th Driver’s Championship since the inception of the series in 1982.

Charlotte, N.C., native William Byron, rookie driver of the No. 9 Liberty University/Axalta Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, clinched the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship after scoring a third-place finish in the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This marks Byron’s first national touring series championship and the second in four years for JR Motorsports, the company owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Additionally, it gives Byron the distinction of being the second-youngest series champion. Byron had to hold off fellow Championship 4 contenders Justin Allgaier, Daniel Hemric and Elliott Sadler in the final race to earn the title.

Ford Performance development driver Chase Briscoe scored his first major NASCAR national series event win when he captured the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway Friday night. The win marked the first by the Ford Performance driver development racer since the program’s inception earlier this year.

Honestly, it was a great run and we did great adjustments there. Our FedEx Camry was obviously very fast that last run. I love this race track and wish we would have our chance, but that will be another day, another year for us.”

BRAD KESELOWSKI -- No. 2 Miller Lite Ford Fusion (Qualified 5th) PRESS CONFERENCE -- “It is a decent effort position wise. These races are so long that where you start isn’t always super important. But getting a decent pit selection as qualifying does for you not a bad thing. There’s a half a dozen good pit stalls and we able to get one of those. We don’t have a lot of tires to put on the race. When we do we’ll have a decent position to pit from so that’s good.”

I got really loose during the last round in Turns 1 and 2 and then nailed my (Turns) 3 and 4, so I felt like I could have ended up fourth or so if I would have gotten through (Turns) 1 and 2 better. Yeah, we will get a better pit stall selection than normal and hopefully that will help our race out.”
