Today, Team Penske announced that it has formed a technical partnership with Stratasys Ltd. (Nasdaq:SSYS), the 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions company.
After earning the eighth fastest time during Saturday’s practice, the 2013 NASCAR Rookie of the Year qualified 13th in Sunday’s qualifying session scoring him the seventh starting-position for Thursday night’s Can-Am Duel 1 which sets the field for the Daytona 500.
In 2015 Reed captured his first NXS Series win in the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway. Reed started eighth, led 14 laps and made a last-lap pass for the victory.
This will be Spencer Boyd’s first start at Daytona International Speedway. Boyd has some experience at Daytona having tested an ARCA car for Mason Mitchell Motorsports in 2016.
Looking to continue building success both on and off the track, Menards has renewed its partnership with Richard Childress Racing's NASCAR XFINITY Series program for a fifth year. Ed Roland, front man for multi-platinum rock band Collective Soul, will perform the national anthem at the March 5 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway with his band, Ed Roland & the Sweet Tea Project. Roland joins several other members of a star-studded lineup of celebrities with close Georgia ties making up the Celebrity Host Committee, which will help welcome fans to the weekend at AMS.
After an exhaustive restoration process, Team Penske has unveiled one of the most unique pieces of its history, a customized 1972 International Fleetstar truck known in the racing circles as “The Blue Hilton.” The truck was one of the first known enclosed transporters used for racing purposes. It served the team in various capacities from 1972-1983. The restoration is complete down to the smallest detail, including authentic PPG paint and hand lettering just in time for Roger Penske’s 80th birthday.
Chip Wile, the youngest President of Daytona International Speedway, was recognized today as a recipient of SportsBusiness Journal’s (SBJ) Forty Under 40 honor. Chosen from among an initial candidate list of more than 500, Wile will receive the award on April 20 at the Forty Under 40 Gala at the Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, CA.
