Practice sessions for the 99th Running of the Indianapolis 500 are well underway, and it’s been a rollercoaster week for Andretti Autosport’s stable of drivers. Working towards defending the team’s reign as Indianapolis 500 Champions, five Honda-powered machines took to the trackMonday afternoon to begin a week’s worth of testing, trimming and trials with the new HPD Super Speedway Aero Kits.
The driver of the No. 17 Fastenal Ford will try to race his way in to Saturday night’s All-Star race this Friday night in the Sprint Showdown. If he doesn’t race his way in, then he will rely on the fan vote to get in to the All-Star race.
CATCHING UP ON KANSAS: Camry driver Matt Kenseth recorded a sixth-place result – his sixth top-10 this season – in Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Kansas Speedway. Front Row Motorsports will keep 22-year-old Brett Moffitt behind the wheel of its No. 34 Ford Fusion. The team has named the Grimes, Iowa, native as the primary driver of its No. 34 entry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, including multiple races with primary sponsorship from CSX and its "Play It Safe" initiative.
NASCAR announced today that Kyle Busch will remain eligible to compete for the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship. Busch will qualify for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup by meeting all requirements of eligibility excluding Rule 17.6.2.1.a, which requires a driver to start all Championship Events of the current season.
“All in all it was a really good day. We worked on the Steak ‘n Shake car and really improved it a lot. Like I keep saying, I think the guys are doing an excellent job and working through a lot of things here and the car already feels a heck of a lot better than it ever did the last couple of years. I’m pretty happy with it but we’ve got to keep working to catch those Penske’s."
