Former Sunset Speedway Ltd. Late Model champion Kevin Cornelius made the most of his return home, capturing his first career Don Biederman Memorial title in a pair of head-turning performances June 28th & 29th.
Night 1 defending Biederman Champion Dwayne Baker looked like he was ready to add his name to the trophy for a second time. After starting 3rd in the 50 lap feature event it took the #48 till lap 30 to wrestle the lead away from the #17 of Cornelius. The next 20 laps was all #48 up front to record his first feature win of 2014 and putting the pressure on the rest of the field to wrestle the overall championship away from him. Kevin Cornelious placed a strong 2nd.
The start of the first 30 lap feature event saw the #47 of Brian McLean and #7 of Brent McLean lead the field to green. Both teams have suffered some bad luck in the past few weeks and both were looking to score their first victory of the 2014 season. Brian got the jump on Brent and lead for the first 3 laps of the event. Fourth starting #26 of Terry Baker quickly moved up from his fourth starting sport to take the lead on lap four.
