Q&A WITH AUTOMOTIVE CONTENT CREATOR LARRY CHEN

Larry Chen grew up in Santa Monica, California, where car culture was practically inescapable. Throughout his childhood, he was surrounded by cars, whether he or his father was fixing them, or he was taking photos, so it was only natural that Larry’s interest in cars kickstarted his successful career.

This year at the SEMA Show, an industry event he’s been attending for 17 years, Larry was named Influencer of the Year. Not only did this recognition redirect the spotlight on his incredible work as an automotive photographer, but it gives him a platform to further storytell about cars and the people that drive them through photography.

Pennzoil sat down with Larry Chen to discuss how he got his start as a photographer, what being named SEMA’s Influencer of the Year means to him, and the impact of his relationship with the brand on his career.

PENNZOIL: Was there any part of your childhood that you believe shaped or inspired your career?

CHEN: Growing up, my dad worked on all our cars. The funny thing is he didn’t do it because he thought it was fun, he hated it, but it was cheap. It looked like it was fun when I was a kid, so I picked up on that.

Growing up in Santa Monica and living in an apartment without a garage, everyone could see me working on cars all the time once I started. I’d constantly get asked, “what’s broken?” while fixing a car, but what most people didn’t understand was that I was tinkering with it to make it better, to make it faster.

PENNZOIL: When did you first pick up a camera?

CHEN: I started taking pictures in elementary school with a film camera, but didn’t pick up a camera seriously until high school. I didn’t get much from my film camera because it was automatic, but I still have a lot of the images that I shot back then. I quickly understood the settings of a camera, and what was needed to create a photo.

PENNZOIL: Were you self-taught or was there a class in high school or a teacher that showed you the ropes?

CHEN: Initially, I was self-taught. I understood the basic mechanics of taking a picture. It’s like when you drive a manual transmission car and if you don’t know how it works, it’s tougher to get into it and understand what you’re doing. But, if you already have a basic understanding of how a transmission works, it seems a little easier to get into it. For me, it was the same thing with photography. I understood that you were controlling the light going into the camera and that’s where I was able to understand and learn how to control and shape the light. Otherwise, I did take one introduction class at a community college right out of high school, but that was it because it was just something I did with a couple of friends for fun.

PENNZOIL: Describe the beginning of your career. What were the roadblocks and learning curves?

CHEN: There were plenty of roadblocks, but the main thing was trying to stand out. When I first started, there was no social media. I was so desperate to get photos in front of people that I collected emails at events and sent images out that way. I even posted on forums because back then, instead of going to Google something you went to a forum and searched if anyone else had run into the same problem before. Then, they would be able to explain how they resolved the problem. There were a bunch of car forums, but they were more high-end, so I started posting in the “off-topic” areas because I just wanted people to see the photos I was taking, it was as simple as that.

PENNZOIL: You capture Formula Drift, and it seems like you have a special relationship with them. How did you initially get involved?

CHEN: It came from the car community that was of my generation. They took me into their arms and gave me access and the platform to practice my craft. I made a lot of friends there and still call it my home because any time I’m there, it’s always people that I started with that are still doing what they’re doing, just at a higher level. It’s great to be able to tell everyone’s story, especially someone like Vaughn Gittin Jr., who I started shooting in 2004 and then you have someone like Chelsea DeNofa, who I started shooting during his rookie year and I’ve been able to watch him get to where he is now.

PENNZOIL: You were named Automotive Influencer of The Year at the SEMA Show. What does this accomplishment mean to you?

CHEN: It’s incredible because I didn’t expect it at all, nor did I even intend for it to happen. Over the years, SEMA has been so good to me as a platform that’s allowed me to perform and grow. Naturally, the accomplishment helped my business. But I more look at the fact that SEMA let us tell the stories of these people. This is my 17th year at SEMA, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them since 2006 when I first started attending the event. For the first couple of years, it was a struggle. I slept on hotel room floors because I couldn’t afford a flight or hotel let alone be able to afford food. At the time, for me to go and not sell computers and not do house calls for a whole week, was tough. But SEMA was the pinnacle of car culture and I had to be there. I struggled for the first couple of years, but eventually, I found my way, especially because I’ve now built 3 cars for the show. Regardless, it’s unbelievable for them to recognize me after all these years.

PENNZOIL: What type of stories are you hoping to convey with your content, and who are you hoping to reach?

CHEN: I want to create stories that I would be interested in, especially when I was younger. I remember when I was younger, I would scour the internet, or I would look for magazines that weren’t available in the United States and do whatever I could to find this car culture material and media.

But it’s not like that anymore, there are so many content creators that fill the gap for people who want to get into cars. I always tell big content creators, like Adam LZ, thankfully there are so many nerds out there that appreciate how deep you and I get into cars and focus on the tiniest details with us.

PENNZOIL: What is the most rewarding part of your job?

CHEN: Being able to make friends, make connections, and participate in car culture whether that’s driving, building the car, rallies, racing, or drifting. It’s such a great feeling to be a part of the community, and not just photograph it.

PENNZOIL: What is your dream car to photograph?

CHEN: I don’t have a dream car, but I do have dream events that I still want to capture in my lifetime. In terms of cars, eventually, I feel like I’ll get most of the ones that I care about, but there are always going to be new ones and I’ll never get to all of them. In terms of historical events, there’s a finite amount of events that are bucket list ones, but there will always be events that pop up. If I could, I’d love to get to Dakar Rally, Monaco Grand Prix, Bathhurst 12-hour race in Australia, and the Leadfoot festival in New Zealand.

PENNZOIL: What keeps you motivated to stay on this career path?

CHEN: Part of it is that I’m not good at anything else. Nothing makes me feel alive more than what I’m doing with photography. A lot of what I do is to be able to push harder to capture car culture and now, it’s almost like I can’t stop.

PENNZOIL: How has your partnership with Pennzoil impacted your career?

CHEN: It changed my life for the better and elevated what we’ve done, especially because Pennzoil has sponsored our Hagerty show. To be able to move to a platform like Hagerty changed my life and the guys that I work with because we’re creating content on such a different level, and it’s even elevated our brand. Pennzoil being able to fund these projects that allow us to show off our culture and spread the word has been such a big part of what we have done this year. If we didn’t have Pennzoil to support us in these niche projects, I don’t know what we’d be doing.

PENNZOIL: Do you use any Pennzoil products in your builds? If so, which ones?

CHEN: Most of the cars we use include Pennzoil products. For example, with the Baja 1000, we used 2 of our chase trucks, one called the Raptor Tundra, which was built to compete against the Ford Raptor, which uses 0W20 Ultra Platinum, and then a supercharged FJ Cruiser which uses 10W30 Ultra Platinum. We’re pushing these vehicles so hard to chase the race, and we take them out when it’s heavy-duty off-roading. You also must bring spares, just in case because we’re pushing them so hard to keep up with the racer. This year, we followed the Ford Performance team that used Shell biofuels for their Raptor Ranger that finished way ahead of time, and we were able to follow them from start to finish, taking about 27 hours. Otherwise, most of my performance vehicles like my SEMA Car and Supra both use Pennzoil products.

PENNZOIL: Do you have any advice for aspiring photographers/content creators?

CHEN: The main thing I tell people is to shoot what you love. If you’re truly not passionate about cars, but you’re more passionate about something like food or wedding photography, and it’s something you don’t mind being around the rest of your life, focus on that. If it becomes a chore and something you don’t enjoy, your photos will suffer.

PENNZOIL: Anything exciting in the works, that you’d be willing to give us a sneak preview into?

CHEN: We’re going to Tokyo for Tokyo Auto Salon in January. This will be the first time since the shutdown that we’ll be able to attend because the last one was 2 weeks before the pandemic. For us to go back and create content for this event is a big deal and we’re excited to do so. So, stay tuned for photos and videos from there.

Thank you, Pennzoil, for supporting me and so many other creators and people in the industry that want to preserve car culture.

TOMMY DUNKEL PLACED 13TH IN TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX SPRINT CAR MAIN – CHILI BOWL NEXT

Tommy Dunkel on his way to a 13th place finish in the Turkey Night Sprint Car main. A.J. Johnson photo.

Menifee, CA, December 21, 2022) At the 81st Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway on November 26th, Menifee, California’s Tommy Dunkel caught the eyes of many in the near-sellout crowd when he moved up from 22nd to finish 13th in the sprint car main event. Only two other drivers advanced more than Dunkel in the 30-lap race on the famous 1/5 mile track located on the beach at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

To say that Dunkel’s performance was a surprise may have been an understatement. After all, it was only his fourth race since 2016. His last outing before Turkey Night took place on the same Ventura track at the end of October when he placed third in the VRA main event. However, the Turkey Night Grand Prix was a whole different story. The talent-laden field was comprised of 49 drivers from throughout the country. In addition, the affable racer was starting in the next to last row in the 23-car lineup. When you start that far back on the tight quarters of the Ventura Raceway, drivers are going to see some chaos in front of them. They hope they are not part of the free for all crashes that occasionally happen. Dunkel had two very close calls during the race. Fortunately, he deftly steered through both. The first of those instances came on the back straightaway on the second circuit. Five cars tangled in front of the immaculate Inland Rigging white #17 car. He went to the wide side of the track and narrowly missed being sucked into the bedlam.

With a packed house looking on at the track and thousands more around the world watching live on Flo Racing, Dunkel was still near the back of the field when the action resumed with 28-laps to go. He was 17th by the end of lap three and progressed one position higher on lap seven. Two go-rounds later, Dunkel’s reflexes were tested again. This time going into turn three, a car flipped wildly in front of him. Dunkel stayed glued to the bottom of the racetrack and was seemingly out of trouble. That is until a driver on the wide line had to take evasive action to avoid the flipping car. That driver flew to the bottom and banged wheels with Dunkel. Driving like a seasoned veteran, Dunkel stayed on the throttle and powered out of the potential mishap.

“There were a few close calls and real estate is limited at Ventura,” Dunkel commented after. “It is really tricky. I tried to not let the close calls rattle me. I tried to focus on running a good race and continuing to move forward. There were a lot of really fast guys there and I just tried to stay focused and hit my marks. It worked out well.”

Once the race resumed, Dunkel managed to stay away from the chaos and kept a steady pace. It paid dividends! He moved up to the 15th spot on lap 19. Two circuits later he nabbed one more spot. He stayed in 14th until the last lap when he took another step forward and came home with a hard-earned 13th-place finish.

“Growing up knowing what the Turkey Night Grand Prix meant, you hoped to be a part of it,” Dunkel said. “Just to make the show was a milestone for me. I just kind of went to get some good laps in for 2023. To do what we did in just making the main and then coming from 22nd up to 13th felt good. A great way to cap the season for me.”

At the previous night’s preliminary, Dunkel placed fifth in his 10-lap heat race and was eighth in his 12-lap qualifier. That placed him 33rd in points in the stellar 49-car field. Just to get into the finale, he had to perform well in his B main on Saturday night. The cards were stacked against the friendly driver in that brief 12-lap race. He was starting in the 11th position and he had to finish at least sixth or his Turkey Night Grand Prix was over. In what would prove to be the story of his night, he moved forward. He put his Shaver-powered Maxim Chassis through its paces and moved forward the required five spots to capture the sixth-place position and book his ticket into the biggest race of his life.

While Christmas and New Year are just around the corner, another holiday is coming up for racers from around the globe. The second week of January will be the 37th Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The annual exhibition of speed and ability draws drivers from several different disciplines of racing including NASCAR, Indy Cars, World of Outlaws, NHRA Drag Racing, and of course midgets and sprint cars. Thus far more than 300 drivers have pre-entered the race and one of them is Tommy Dunkel. Full details on his participation in another one of racing’s “Crown Jewels” will be published after the holidays.

Dunkel would like to thank the following for making his racing efforts possible. Inland Rigging, Dunkel Farms, United Asset Sales, and Osborne Speed & Machine. If you or your company would like to join him for a full year of USAC Sprint Car competition in 2023, please give him a call or send an email to 951-901-5082 or mailto:TomDunkel@inlandrigging.com.

What is EGR?

EGR is an abbreviation for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. As the name says, this process involves the recirculation of exhaust gases through the engine to reduce harmful emissions. Like everything brings along with it a positive side as well as a negative one, the same is the case with EGR. The positive side is that it lessens the harmful emissions to the atmosphere whereas the downside is that it hinders the engine performance and efficiency.

Exhaust gases, having no fresh oxygen and excess soot (carbon particulate) are definitely going to deteriorate the engine’s efficiency. We all are well aware of the fact that oxygen is a critical element for combustion, so it is obvious that the limited availability of oxygen is going to hinder the combustion process and eventually the engine’s performance. Moreover, diesel being a dirty fuel has a great quantity of soot in the exhaust gases which get stuck in different parts of the engine as well as restricts the engine’s combustion process and overall efficiency. Nevertheless, the excessive soot in the exhaust gases can prevent blockages in different parts and it can lead to extremely costly repairs.

What is EGR Delete kit and its purpose?

By the name ‘EGR Delete kit’, one can understand that it is equipment that removes the Exhaust Gas Recirculation process. Basically, it is an aftermarket part, that prevents the exhaust gases from entering back into the engine and thus, your vehicle functions like it never had an EGR valve installed.

EGR delete kits typically include an EGR block-off plate, cooler plate, pipe assembly, replacement gaskets, and bolts. With an EGR delete kit installed on your vehicle, you will experience the following key differences in your vehicle

  • Improved throttle response
  • Improved fuel economy
  • Improved horsepower
  • Improved life of the engine
  • Lower engine temperatures
  • Reduce oil and carbon deposits in the engine

EGR delete kits can be found for different engines in the market. Duramax, Power Stroke, and Cummins are some of the companies producing heavy diesel engines for different Trucks. Duramax V8 engine is a family of 6.6L diesel V8 engines, which are produced by DMAX. The LBZ, LLY, and LML engines of Duramax transcend the previous performance after installing a Cummins EGR delete kit. Similarly, Power Stroke is the name used by a family of diesel engines, which are produced for Trucks by Ford Motor Company. And, Cummins also specializes in producing big engines for trucks, and Dodge RAMS are mostly equipped with it. From all these big engines, if one needs to take out the power, he should consider an EGR delete kit upgrade.

Best EGR Delete Kit

Installing an EGR delete kit is a simple DIY job, but it must be noted that tuning is required after upgradation and for that purpose, you should hire some expert. Some of the best quality EGR Delete Kits are provided by following

  • Screamin Diesel Performance (SDP)
  • HSP Diesel Performance
  • Wehrli Custom Fabrication

All the above-mentioned companies specialize in the best EGR Delete kits for the Engines developed by Duramax, Power Stroke, and Cummins.

Conclusion

Even though there are many benefits of installing an EGR delete kit, some vehicles do not perform well with an EGR delete kit. For those few vehicles, we sometimes observe reduced horsepower, engine knocking, and increased exhaust temperature. Therefore, this fact must be considered before this installing an EGR delete kit.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty will ride in the 2023 Rose Parade®

“The King” adds royal touch to float honoring NASCAR’s 75th Anniversary, Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in the Annual Tournament of Roses Celebration

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – (Dec. 21, 2022) – NASCAR is turning the 2023 Rose Parade® presented by Honda into a royal processional fit for “The King.”

The sanctioning body announced today that Richard Petty will ride atop its historic float “Always Forward” that celebrates NASCAR’s 75th anniversary and the upcoming Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum. The parade, which will be held on Monday, Jan. 2., is part of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses® which also features the famed Rose Bowl Game®.

“Nobody embodies the rich history of our sport more than Richard Petty,” said NASCAR Vice President of Marketing Services Patrick Rogers. “He’s not only ‘The King,’ but an icon recognized around the world as one of the greatest athletes of all time. It’s an incredible honor to have him represent NASCAR on our float, and I know our fans in California will love this opportunity to hail NASCAR royalty in person.”

Petty’s coronation as NASCAR’s “King” was a byproduct of the hard work and skill he showcased during a remarkable 35-year career. His record 200 NASCAR Cup Series wins is considered one of the most untouchable records in all of sports. Petty was also the first driver to win seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, and he holds NASCAR records for most poles (123), most wins in a season (27), most Daytona 500 wins (seven), most consecutive wins (10) and most starts (1,185). He was enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class in 2010, and he currently serves as Chairman of Petty GMS Racing.

Yet Petty cemented his status as a cultural icon by becoming one of sport’s most accessible and likable athletes. Rarely seen without his trademark cowboy hat and sunglasses, Petty still greets fans at the racetrack with the same warm smile he displayed during his driving career.

The float that will carry “The King” on Jan. 2 features his iconic No. 43 race car, along with the No. 3 made popular by Dale Earnhardt and the No. 24 driven by Jeff Gordon. With the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum’s Peristyle and Olympic cauldron serving as a breathtaking backdrop, the cars race around a track surrounded by checkered flags, ribbons, palm trees and more. Designed and constructed by Artistic Entertainment Services® (AES), the float is 25 feet tall, 55 feet long and headed by NASCAR’s 75th Anniversary diamond logo.

(CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE FLOAT’S DESIGN).

The annual Rose Parade celebrates 134 years of success with its upcoming celebration on Jan. 2, led by the volunteer-driven, non-profit Pasadena Tournament of Roses® Association. In addition to participating in the 2023 parade, NASCAR will also be providing the Association’s 935 volunteers with a special Busch Light Clash and Auto Club Speedway ticket offer, in recognition of their dedication to America’s New Year Celebration®.

The Busch Light Clash at the LA Coliseum will be held on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, as a part of the destination’s “Coliseum Forever” celebration to honor the historic stadium’s centennial anniversary and will air live on FOX at 8 p.m. ET. After an action-packed 2022 season, the 2023 NASCAR season-opener is bound to be another thrilling event in a momentous year.

Initiative to Drive Support for Jessie’s JoyJars®, Raise Awareness for Pediatric Cancer

CONCORD, N.C. (December 20, 2022) – One of the most powerful and inspirational speeches across the American sports landscape was given at the inaugural ESPY Awards on March 4, 1993, when Jim Valvano was presented the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. There, he addressed an audience filled with his friends, family and contemporaries. Of course, Valvano had been diagnosed with terminal cancer – the award an acknowledgement of his condition – and passed away less than two months later.

During that speech, Valvano announced the creation of the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. It’s motto: “Don’t Give Up. Don’t Ever Give Up.”

Eighteen years later, nearly to the day, 12-year-old Jessica Joy Rees – known to those who loved her as simply Jessie – was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and given just 12-to-18 months to live. As her mom and dad grappled with the news few can comprehend and considered treatment plans that would be extraordinarily taxing to their daughter’s young body, Jessie wasn’t thinking about herself. No, Jessie was thinking about others.

In those moments, Jessie was inspired to spread love, hope and most importantly care to her fellow pediatric cancer patients at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (Calif.) when she created Jessie’s JoyJars®.

JoyJars are for kids actively fighting cancer under the age of 19. Each one of Jessie’s JoyJars are age and gender specific and filled with new toys and activities to help a child fighting cancer smile and feel loved.

Each JoyJar comes complete with Jessie’s own take on Valvano’s famous words: “Never Ever Give Up.”

From those empowering words, the Jessie Rees Foundation was born and its motto took the form of the acronym NEGU. Its mission is to encourage every kid fighting cancer to never ever give up.

In support of that mission, Spire Motorsports and Corey LaJoie, through the backing of a private philanthropic foundation, have partnered with the Jessie Rees Foundation to serve as the primary sponsor of LaJoie’s No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for six NASCAR Cup Series races in 2023.

“The Jessie Rees Foundation is incredibly honored to be the primary sponsor of Spire Motorsports and Corey LaJoie’s No. 7 Chevrolet for six races during the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season,” said Erik Rees, Jessie’s proud dad and co-founder of the Jessie Rees Foundation. “This exciting partnership will not only expand awareness of our mission to encourage kids and families impacted by childhood cancer to ‘Never Ever Give Up,’ (NEGU) it will allow us to deliver JoyJars to kids fighting cancer throughout the season with Corey and his team. In addition, we are extremely humbled by the unwavering generosity from a donor’s foundation, who wish to remain anonymous, to allow this partnership to take place. Together we will keep curing bad days caused by childhood cancer.”

The Team NEGU paint scheme will be featured aboard LaJoie’s No. 7 Chevrolet at the following races in 2023:

  • Auto Club Speedway – February 26
  • Martinsville Speedway – April 16
  • Daytona International Speedway – August 26
  • Bristol Motor Speedway – September 16
  • Las Vegas Motor Speedway – October 15
  • Phoenix Raceway – November 5

The Jessie Rees Foundation fulfills its mission by connecting with families, bringing awareness to their stories, offering them a network of helpful resources and sending the entire family continual doses of encouragement throughout their journey.

Its national vision is to become a symbol of help and hope in the childhood cancer space so every child fighting cancer and their families have the support and encouragement to never ever give up during their courageous fight. The global vision is to be able to say “yes” to any children’s hospital request for Jessie’s JoyJars.

“Thanks to some very generous individuals with big hearts, I’m fortunate enough to spread the mission of NEGU and help bring joy and hope to pediatric cancer patients across the country,” said LaJoie. “As Christmas approaches, it’s important to remind myself and anyone who will listen, there are so many courageous families fighting a battle like no other. During this Christmas and holiday season, I’m encouraging my friends, family and fans to contribute to the Jessie Rees Foundation by sponsoring a JoyJar and help bring a smile to the face of a child who is fighting cancer.

“As part of our partnership, I’ll spend some time visiting hospitals with pediatric cancer units to offer love, encouragement and hope to those who can use it the most. We have a special opportunity and we’re going to make the most of it.”

About the Jessie Rees Foundation …
The Jessie Rees Foundation was inspired by a courageous and compassionate eleven-year-old girl named Jessica Joy Rees, who was best known as “Jessie.” Friends and family describe Jessie as a faith-filled, athletic, caring, and loving girl who courageously fought two brain tumors (DIPG) from March 3, 2011, to January 5, 2012.

During Jessie’s courageous fight, she realized thousands of other kids fighting cancer couldn’t leave the hospital. This burden inspired Jessie to create her fun filled JoyJarsÒ, 64 oz. plastic jars stuffed to the very top with new, age-appropriate toys, games, and activities for kids fighting cancer. Jessie also visited kids fighting cancer and encouraged them with her message and motto to NEGU (Never Ever Give Up). Before losing her fight to cancer, she filled more than 3,000 JoyJars with family and friends and encouraged thousands more to NEGU.

Today, her legacy lives on through the Jessie Rees Foundation. Due to the generosity of thousands of people, companies, and volunteers, over 430,000 JoyJars have been sent to kids fighting cancer in all 50 states and over 52 countries. While the Jessie Rees Foundation does not focus on curing cancer, they do cure bad days caused by childhood cancer with hope, joy, and love. Join Team NEGU today at www.negu.org.

Do Diesels Last Longer?

Diesel and petrol engines have ruled the road for more than a century. Lots have changed in that time, but diesel mechanics still claim that diesel engines far outlast their petrol counterparts. It’s an argument that’s been going on for a long time, and in this article, we’re going to find out whether diesel engines really do last longer!

How Diesel Engines Work

Before we talk about the lifespan of diesels, we need to take a quick look at how they work. While there are lots of similarities between petrol and diesel, there are a few big differences, and these play a role in the longevity of diesel vehicles.

The major difference between petrol and diesel is how the fuel is ignited. In petrol engines, a mixture of air and fuel is sucked into the cylinder where it is compressed by the piston and then ignited by the spark plug. This causes a small explosion that drives the piston downwards, creating rotational motion to turn the wheels. Diesel engines work slightly differently. It used SV98 T39S solenoid for fuel injection. t is located at the top of the fuel injection pump and is responsible for controlling the flow of fuel into the engine. First, pure air is sucked into the cylinder to be compressed by the piston. The air heats up as the piston compresses it, and then a fine mist of diesel is injected into the hot air. The diesel ignites on contact with the air and the explosion drives the piston downwards.

The Lifespan of Diesel Engines

It’s common for diesel engines to last longer than petrol engines. The exact lifespan of each diesel varies depending on the design and whether it has been well maintained. But, in general, you can expect a diesel engine to last twice as long as a petrol equivalent in a passenger car. This is especially true for commercial vehicles and larger equipment. Because commercial diesel engines are expected to run longer, they’re often designed to last for decades.

You can even have diesel delivered to your home, so you never have to leave the house. If you live in Florida, for example, you can look up fuel delivery in orlando and have diesel conveniently delivered to your home or business. Be sure to store it properly in approved containers and follow safety precautions.

To put that into perspective, the type of petrol engine found in a car might last 200,000km. By contrast, the diesel found in a commercial truck could last 1,000,000km or more! The design of each engine type is the main difference here. Because diesels work differently and rely on higher compression ratios, they need to be built tough to withstand the additional forces. This results in diesel engines that can run almost indefinitely! Proper maintenance makes them even better.

Why Diesels Last Longer

A well-maintained diesel engine should easily outlive a petrol engine. Of course, different engines have different lifespans, and a lack of maintenance can still kill a diesel engine. In general, though, there are three big reasons that diesels last longer than petrol engines:

  • Tough components. As we mentioned above, diesel engines use high compression ratios to ignite the fuel-air mixture. That means the internal components are under incredible pressure. In fact, diesel engines often have a compression ratio that’s twice that of a comparable petrol engine. To withstand that, the internal components and bearings of a diesel engine are built tough with thicker steel, larger bearings and bigger oil capacities.
  • Lower RPMs. Diesels produce lots of power for their size. That means they can run at lower Revolutions Per Minute (RPM). Lower RPMs directly translates into less wear and tear on the engine bearings. So, not only are those bearings tougher, they’re subject to less use, and your diesel engine will ultimately live longer because of it.
  • Diesel fuel. That’s right, diesel fuel itself plays a role in the lifespan of the engine! Diesel fuels are actually a mild lubricant. As diesel circulates through the fuel system, fuel pump and injectors, it gently lubricates the components. This subtle lubrication effect can drastically increase the lifespan of those critical parts. Ultimately, this means that a diesel engine needs fewer major services and that expensive parts like fuel injectors won’t need to be replaced as often.

How to Extend the Life of a Diesel Engine

You can rely on most diesel engines to outlive their petrol counterparts. There are no guarantees involved, and it’s still up to the owner to treat the vehicle well. If you want to extend the life of your diesel engine then here are our top tips:

  • Invest in regular servicing with diesel mobile mechanics
  • Change the engine oil at the recommended intervals
  • Use high-quality oils, fuels and coolants
  • Change the air and fuel filters regularly
  • Check your fuel-water separator
  • Let the engine warm up properly before driving

Regular maintenance really is the most important factor for most vehicles. Asking a mechanic to check the engine and replace its engine oil is all it takes to extend the life of your diesel vehicle!

The Top 6 Kept Secrets About Online Gambling

Photo by Keenan Constance on Unsplash

Online gambling began in 1994 when Antigua and Barbuda passed the Free Trade & Processes Act, which allowed companies to offer casino games over the internet. At first, online gambling was slow to catch on because many people were unsure about whether or not it was safe. However, as technology has progressed and become more reliable, online gambling has exploded in popularity. There are now hundreds of different sites where you can gamble online, including casinos, sportsbooks, and poker rooms.

And while most gamblers know the basics of the game they are playing, there are some secrets and tricks that only experienced online gamblers know. From the best way to maximize your winnings to the safest sites and methods for depositing and withdrawing money, here are six secrets about online gambling that even experienced players may not know.

Not All Online Gambling Sites Are Legitimate

Unfortunately, many online gambling sites are not legitimate and may be operating illegally. These sites typically offer poor customer service, slow payouts, or even no payouts at all. Furthermore, players who use untrustworthy sites run the risk of having their personal information stolen or falling victim to fraudulent activity. As such it is essential to make sure that you only play on reputable gambling sites that have been verified by industry watchdogs. According to the Casino AAMS 2022 list, if you are located in Italy, Plantetwin and Snai Casino are still the most trusted online gambling sites. However regardless of your location, always take time to read reviews and check the website’s credentials before signing up.

The best way to do this is by looking for a seal of approval from an independent third-party testing agency on the site’s homepage. You should also check out customer reviews and ratings to get an idea of the site’s overall quality and trustworthiness before making any deposits or wagers. By taking the time to do your research, you can ensure that you are playing at a reputable and secure gambling site.

Bonuses And Promotions Are Not Always What They Seem

When gambling online, players should always be cautious when it comes to accepting bonuses and promotions. While these offers can seem like a great way to boost your winnings, they often come with hidden strings attached. Casino sites may offer a welcome bonus or free spins, for example, but typically these will have wagering requirements that need to be met before any of the money can be withdrawn. This means you have to keep playing until you meet the requirements for the bonus money to be added to your account.

Furthermore, the terms and conditions of bonuses and promotions may not always be clear or easy to understand. Often the terms are long and complicated and buried deep within a website’s small print, making it easy for players to inadvertently agree without fully understanding what they are signing up for. As such, players should always make sure they understand all of the fine print before accepting any type of bonus or promotion offered by a casino site.

Therefore, it’s important that everyone who gambles online takes their time and reads carefully through all terms and conditions associated with bonuses and promotions so that they don’t get taken advantage of by unscrupulous casino operators.

Some Sites Have Limitless Bonuses

While most online gambling sites have some sort of bonus or promotion for players, there are a few that stand out from the crowd by offering an almost limitless number of bonuses and promotions. These sites are designed to increase your chances of winning big and offer better payouts than other gambling sites.

For example, some websites offer unlimited cashback bonuses, which means that no matter how much you deposit or bet, you will receive a certain percentage back as real money in your account. Similarly, VIP programs at select casino sites can provide players with extra rewards such as higher limits on deposits and withdrawals and access to exclusive tournaments and events.

You Can Self-Exclude Yourself From Gambling Sites

One of the most important secrets of online gambling is that players can take measures to protect themselves from problem gambling. Online casinos and sportsbooks typically offer a self-exclusion feature, which allows players to set limits on how much they can bet or deposit to prevent them from getting into financial difficulty. Other sites also allow players to temporarily suspend their accounts if they feel like they need a break.

Self-exclusion is an invaluable tool for anyone who feels like they are spending too much time or money on gambling, and it’s offered by almost all reputable sites. Even though this measure can be inconvenient at times, it ultimately serves as a protective barrier against addictive behavior and helps ensure that no one gambles more than they can afford.

You Should Always Use Cryptocurrency For Deposits or Withdrawals

Using cryptocurrency for deposits and withdrawals is the safest way to ensure that your transactions are secure. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that is created and exchanged using cryptography, meaning it can’t be counterfeited or stolen. Additionally, most online gambling sites use blockchain technology to process payments, which further adds an extra layer of security.

Therefore, if you want to protect yourself from fraudulent activity when making deposits and withdrawals at online gambling sites, it’s best to always use cryptocurrency as your payment method. Popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), and Litecoin (LTC) are accepted by many legitimate casino websites in 2021. And if you don’t own any crypto yet, you can easily purchase it through popular exchanges such as Coinbase and Binance

The House Edge Is Not Always The Same

The house edge is an important concept in online gambling, as it is the amount of money that a casino or sportsbook takes from every player’s wager. This percentage varies depending on the game and activities being played, and some games may favor players more than others. For example, blackjack has a low house advantage of only 1%, while slot machines often have house advantages of up to 15%. It’s also important to note that certain bets may have a lower house advantage than others within the same game.

Therefore, to maximize your chances of winning at online gambling sites, it’s crucial to understand the different types of games available and their respective house edges. Smart gamblers will play games with a lower house edge, take advantage of bonuses and promotions, and use proper bankroll management to ensure that they always have the best chances for success.

In conclusion, online gambling can be a fun and exciting experience for those who take the time to do their research and familiarize themselves with best practices. Knowing which sites are legitimate, understanding cryptocurrency payment methods, and being aware of the house edge are all important considerations for those looking to gamble online. By taking the time to educate yourself on these topics, you can increase your chances of winning and make sure that your experiences with online gambling will be enjoyable and safe.
