BRADEN CHIARAMONTE PLACES SECOND IN FIRST NIGHT OF TRIBUTE TO BILLY SHUMAN – KNOCKED OUT OF THE FINALE

(El Cajon, CA, November 18, 2022) One of California’s brightest young racing stars, Brayden Chiaramonte, drove to a second-place finish on the first night of the Tribute To Billy Shuman at Arizona’s Adobe Mountain Speedway. Twenty-four hours later at the finale, Chiaramonte was headed for the front of the pack when he got crashed out of the race.

For the Tribute race, Chiaramonte was making his first appearance at the picturesque track located near the Adobe Dam in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale. His first night of competition saw him turn in the 12th fastest time of the 27 cars on hand in hot laps. In his heat race, he started inside row two in the third position and quickly made his way to the lead and the eventual win. For the main, the talented driver began on the outside of the front row in second and he brought the family owned #73B home in the same spot that he started in.

The 15-year-old racer returned for night two and was greeted by a swelled field of 45 cars. That nearly doubled the amount that was there 24 hours earlier. In his heat race, he started seventh and moved up five spots to place second. That result, combined with his performance from the previous evening, placed him on the top of the point list going into the main event. The race had a redraw for the finale and the friendly driver pulled an eight. That meant he would start outside the fourth row of the 50-lapper.

As usual, the young driver was steaming his way toward the front of the pack. He was up to fifth and was making his move for fourth when he was spun out. That meant he had to restart at the back of the talent-laden field. Once the green flag came back out, Chiaramonte quickly began to weave his way forward. He found himself all the way back up to 10th and attempted to split two cars going into turn three. However, he got clobbered on the left front. The contact bent the front axle and broke the tie rod. That put him out of the main event and left him with a very frustrating 17th-place finish.

Chiaramonte is one of the early entries for the 38th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout inside the massive SagNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The race will take place from December 26th through the 31st. At the 37th running of the prestigious race, the then 14-year-old Chiaramonte burst into the spotlight as a rookie at the event. More than 400 cars showed up to compete with Chiaramonte in the Stock Non-Wing class. He made it all the way to the final on New Year’s Day and finished ninth overall. This year, Chiaramonte will be very busy competing in four classes! The Winged Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, Stock Non-Wing, and Winged A-Class.

As the season is winding down, Chiaramonte and his team are making plans for another busy year in 2023. Further, safe and secure road performance is enhanced with a newly developed platform, an upgraded electronically-controlled 4WD and S-AWC (Super-All Wheel Control) system.

The Outlander was released in 20012 as Mitsubishi Motors’ first crossover SUV, and it has become one of the core models in the company’s lineup, comprising approximately 20 percent of the global sales volume in recent years. The redesigned Outlander was released in North America in 2021 and subsequently in other markets including the Middle East, Oceania, Latin America and Africa, with more than 100,000 units sold as of end of October 2022.

CLS DRIVER AJ BENDER SCORES WIN IN LIGHTNING SPRINT HANGTOWN 100 OPENER

AJ Bender takes the checkered flag at the Hangtown 100 in Placerville on Thursday. MMRACINGPHOTOS.COM

(Torrance, CA, November 18, 2022) One year ago this week, AJ Bender journeyed to the Placerville Speedway to take part in the lightning sprint portion of the three-night Hangtown 100. The San Diego, California-based star proceeded to finish second in all three main events at the open-wheel classic. Last night he kicked off this year’s Hangtown with a win in the 25-lap main event.

To say Bender’s win was anything but hard-fought would be a massive understatement. While he crossed the line a half straightaway ahead of teammate Grant Sexton when the checkered waved, he had to fight for every inch in the first 20-laps. Bender, in the Sexton Gatlin Racing #22, started on the outside of the second row in the main. Grant Sexton was on the pole with Lakeside, Colorado’s Johnny Boos alongside. 2022 BCRA champion Matt Land of Elk Grove started inside of Bender in row two. The BCRA duo of Harlee Aguilera of Orangevale and Citrus Heights racer Hunter Kinney was in row three.

Eighteen-year-old Sexton was the first driver to hit turn one on the famous red clay quarter mile at the outset of the main. Boos was second with Land and Bender third and fourth. The top three remained the same through lap four when a yellow flag came out after 2021 BCRA champion Dakota Albright of Waterford, blew a left rear tire. After racing resumed, things got interesting in a hurry. Boos, who had been working the outside in his sleek looking #24, slid off the top of turn two on the restart. Simultaneously, Kinney clipped the inside berm and the rear end of his car caught some airtime before coming back to earth. Both drivers continued, but Boos dropped back to fourth while Kinney somehow hung on to fifth.

Boos misadventure allowed Bender to move into second and Land to take over third. If anyone thought Boos was out of contention for the night, they were sadly misinformed. Before the field could get two more laps recorded, Ken Coulston slid to a stop forcing the second yellow flag in the first five laps. Soon after the restart, the Bermuda Dunes racer who drives a car that looks like Sammy Swindell’s Channel Lock car from many years ago, got upside down in between one and two necessitating a red flag. Fortunately, the driver was unhurt but he was done for the night.

On the restart before the red flag, Bender, 29, had relieved Sexton of the lead and Boos had moved back to third when he got past Land. Boos quickly got by Sexton for second on the following restart and set his sights on the race leader. Bender, who is a regular in the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series and who was this year’s USAC Western Midget Series “Rookie of the Year,” maintained the point until a sweet move from Boos on lap nine relegated him to second. Going into three in second place, Boos quickly transitioned from the top to the bottom in turn three and shot past Bender.

After taking the lead, Boos kept it on the wide side, but he had Bender, snapping at his heels on the low line. In turn one on lap 11, Boos touched the cushion, and it sucked him in and slowed him down. By the time he recovered, the lead changed hands for the third time in the race and Bender was back in front. In addition, Sexton and Kinney went by as well for second and third. Suddenly, the race that was having such a hard time getting going was turning into a barn burner.

Bender, who scored California Lightning Sprint Car Series wins at the Bakersfield Speedway in April and May as well as the BCRA opener at Placerville at the end of March, was putting laps together and hitting his marks. That did not seem to matter to his teenage teammate. Sexton chased the leader down and tried to go by on the inside on the 17th circuit. Bender fended off the advances but Sexton remained close behind.

It looked like it was going to be a fight to the finish, between Sexton, the 2021 POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Series champion who has a flair for late race dramatics, and Bender. However, just as Boos did two times earlier in the race, the teen went over the cushion on lap 21. By the time he got settled back into the flow, he was still in second but Bender, in the Boczanowski/Sexton Fire Protection/BK Wings/Johnny Motorhead/Troy Dirt/Victory Graphix/Swift Powdercoat/Maxima Oil/Automated Interior/Scotty and Jimmy Keys/#21, was long gone. When the checkers came out, Bender was a half straight away in front of second place Sexton. Kinney, Boos, and Land rounded out the top five.

“I totally forgot about last year, so thanks for reminding me,” Bender laughed when Drake York asked him about his feelings after finally winning following three runner-up finishes in 2021. “It is cool. I am finally glad to get one because running second three times sucked. The car is a little off and we are trying to figure it out. It is the first time I am in it. I have to give a big shout-out to Phil and Wyatt (Boczanowski). Wyatt drives it and Phil owns the car. They let the SGR team bring it up here so I could drive it. We were doing homework on it trying to figure it out. We still have some stuff to work on. This one pays less. I want to win the one on Saturday. I have to thank Phil and Wyatt again, the whole SGR team, and my wife and daughter at home.”

Other CLS and Southern California drivers in the main were “Shugah” Shane Sexton (6th), Jeff Dyer (9th), Cal Smith (11th), Brent Sexton (12th), Mark Henry (13th), Dalton Sexton (15th), and Coulston (18th).

Preliminary action before the main event saw Grant Sexton out-qualify the 26-car field with a time of 14.455. Orangevale’s Harlee Aguilera was second fastest at 14.531 and Land was third on the speed charts at 14.533. USAC National star Logan Seavey of Sutter, Kinney, and Boos captured the heat races and CLS regular Jeff Dyer of Yucca Valley won the B main.

The action continues at the Hangtown 100 tonight, and Saturday. Gates will open each day at 3:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00. Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Named Motorsport Event of the Year in 12th Annual Historic Motoring Awards

Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Sanctioned 2022 Edition of Premier Event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca that Garnered the Prestigious Historic Motoring Awards Event of the Year Honor

LONDON (November 18, 2022) — The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion – which was sanctioned for the second-straight year in 2022 by Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) – received the prestigious international recognition of Motorsport Event of the Year from the Historic Motoring Awards, presented by Octane, earlier this week in London. Judges selected the Rolex Reunion from an impressive list of international motoring events citing its adherence to presenting only authentic historic race cars and in attracting the best of the best to kick-off the yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“This prestigious award belongs to every person of the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca team, Advisory Council members, the experts from Historic Sportscar Racing, and the County of Monterey for the shared vision of maintaining adherence to being the best,” said Barry Toepke, Director of Heritage Events and Public Relations of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, who accepted the honor. “And equally important, the recognition goes to the participants who enjoy sharing their historic race cars at speed and spending time with the tens of thousands of appreciative fans who visit to see motorsports history come to life on the track and in the paddock.”

After debuting at the Rolex Reunion and Pre-Reunion in 2021 to begin a multi-year partnership, HSR continued this year in providing its expertise and vast collective experience in race event operations, full technical scrutineering, competitor and participant registration and vetting entries for the blockbuster Monterey events that are generally regarded as the premier historic and vintage motorsports events in North America.

The Event of the Year honor furthers the recognition that Monterey Car Week truly is an international gathering of enthusiasts, sponsors, journalists and like-minded businesses that are active in the automotive and collector car fields. The County of Monterey, owners of both the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, experienced a strong resurgence this year as visitors flocked to Monterey to enjoy such internationally popular events like the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Pebble Beach Concours d ’Elegance, and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.

Established in the mid-1970s, HSR is led by HSR President David Hinton, who was a majority owner for the last 10 years and guided HSR’s sale to IMSA early in 2022. Hinton remains at the helm as president and continues to steer the organization through one of its biggest periods of growth in the more than 40-year history of HSR.

About HSR: Now an International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) property, Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) was formed in the mid-1970s with an event at Road Atlanta. There was one goal then and it remains true today: to celebrate the race cars from the past. As a “time machine” of sights and sounds, HSR provides a venue for competitors and spectators alike to share in the wonderful history and excitement created by the cars that competed at race tracks around the world. HSR currently sanctions eight vintage and historic racing events at some of the world’s most renowned race tracks, including Road Atlanta, Sebring International Raceway, Daytona International Speedway and more. The complete schedule and full event information can be found on HSR’s website at www.HSRRace.com. Look for the HSR Channel on YouTube and follow HSR on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/HSRrace/ and on Twitter and Instagram at @HSR_race. Tiger Tari and Star Spangled Racing Cap First Season of Racing with Lamborghini Super Trofeo Trophy in Portugal

PORTIMAO, Portugal (November 18, 2022) – Star Spangled Racing’s Tiger Tari made the most of his first international racing event during his first season of professional racing, earning a podium during the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Grand Finals at Portimao in early November.

The four-race weekend, which included a pair of races to cap the U.S.-based season and a doubleheader with Lamborghini Super Trofeo competitors from across the globe, came at the end of Star Spangled Racing’s first season of partnership with NTE Sport during the IMSA season. That pairing began with the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona and expanded when Tari got behind the wheel for the first time as a professional during the midpoint of the Super Trofeo season.

Tari made the jump from team owner and amateur driver, focusing mostly on SCCA, World Racing League and American Endurance Racing competition, to the professional ranks during the Road America rounds in the LB Cup class for inexperienced racers in the Star Spangled Racing No. 118 Property Restoration Software/Home Repair Network Lamborghini Huracan EVO Super Trofeo. After being collected by a rival in Saturday’s race and a part failure on Sunday ended both races early, Tari moved to Virginia International Raceway for the last domestic doubleheader of the season.

Tari’s focus at VIR was on finishing the race first, and a result second. That focus led him to his first career podium, a third-place finish in class.

With the momentum in hand, it was off to a brand-new track for Tari. Tari, a first-generation Turkish-American, started race one in fourth position in the LB Cup class, and despite a damp track held serve the entire distance – narrowly missing a podium. Race two, later in the afternoon, told a different story.

Starting second, one position behind NTE Sport teammate and friend Fred Roberts, Tari battled around the same Portimao circuit that hosted Formula One in 2020 and 2021. At the checkered flag, Tari held his second position and earned his second career podium, just behind Roberts.

“When I arrived in Portugal, I told the team I wanted to accomplish two things here,” Tari said. “I wanted to run in P5 or better, and I wanted to take at least one piece of hardware back. I was talking to Fred, and I said ‘wouldn’t that be awesome if we podiumed together, line one and two?’ Guess what we did the second race?

“I could have done much better in the first race. It was a little bit of inexperience. I spun the car and lost about 25 seconds there, and I stalled the car two times coming out of the pits. The guy that made the podium, who I was faster than, ended up on the podium the first day. Finally the second day I ended up on the podium in P2.”

The final day of the event featured two races against Lamborghini Super Trofeo racers from around the world. In race one, Tari steered clear of a number of on-track incidents and scored an impressive fifth-place finish in LB Cup competition. He was running in the same position in race two, looking for improvement, when a broken axle ended his successful overseas trip early.

That podium was a product of preparation that began in those early rounds. On Friday at VIR, Tari was already mentally preparing for success. He spent the day intentionally wearing a Pirelli podium cap, a wardrobe choice noticed by successful pro Marco Holzer. Holzer was on site to drive the IMSA WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona Lamborghini Huracan for the NTE Sport and Start Spangled Racing collaboration.

“Marco said, ‘Tiger, I just got here and you’ve already podiumed,’” Tari said later. “I said, ‘this hat was given to me at a Porsche event years ago, but it’s similar to what I get here. Believe it or not, I’m preparing myself to get on the podium by wearing it, because I’m thinking like a winner.’ He laughed at me, but I was very serious. I was putting myself in the mindset.

“Once you see you can do it, it becomes possible every time.”

Star Spangled Racing’s collaboration with NTE Sport paid off, not only with a prepped race car but with coaching from the team’s professional drivers.

“I can’t thank Paul and all the guys at NTE enough,” Tari said. “Even before we got to Portugal, Glen McGee was instrumental in helping me on the simulator prepare for a brand new track. On site, Jaden Conwright got me up to speed quickly and helped me to improve throughout the weekend. That’s what makes the sports car paddock so great, even back at VIR I talked to Andy Lally, who just out of kindness gave me some advice to help finish the race without thinking about the end result, and it led to a podium. It’s a team effort to have any success at all.”

With the season in the books, Tari has already turned his attention toward a full-season effort in Lamborghini Super Trofeo in 2023. Those plans will be announced in the coming months in advance of the green flag.

About Star Spangled Racing:

Based in Jacksonville, Florida, Star Spangled Racing was established in 2020 by first-generation American Tiger Tari. Star Spangled Racing accelerated quickly, moving from club and endurance events into professional racing just two years later with a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona (GTD) class in a partnership with NTE Sport. Tari extended his driving career by finishing the season in the LB Cup class of Lamborghini Super Trofeo during the 2022 season. More information can be found at www.starspangledracing.com.

NASCAR Hall of Fame Driver Bobby Labonte and Herbalife Nutrition Surprise Kids in Need with New Bikes to Promote Health and Wellness

The Bobby Labonte Foundation’s annual bike build and giveaway benefits 60 kids

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – (November 18, 2022) – The Bobby Labonte Foundation, founded by NASCAR Champion and Hall of Fame race car driver Bobby Labonte, teamed up with Herbalife Nutrition to build and donate 60 kids’ bikes at the YWCA of Winston-Salem, N.C. on Thursday as part of the foundation’s annual charitable efforts. The surprise giveaway, which benefited children enrolled at the YWCA’s Best Choice Learning Center, also included helmets and bike safety lessons provided by Brenner Children’s Hospital.

The Bobby Labonte Foundation and Herbalife also surprised center representatives with two oversized checks for $10,000 each. The Best Choice Learning Center focuses on education and income equality, providing K-8 academic enrichment and need-based scholarships along with nutrition education, healthy snacks and hot meals.

“My foundation works in partnership with the local community and community organizations to empower parents, families and children to build a strong foundation for their futures. Encouraging kids to live a healthy lifestyle is one way to do that,” said Bobby Labonte. “We are so grateful for partners like Herbalife who help make our efforts possible. They were excited to pitch in to support the Best Choice Learning Center too, which is an invaluable resource for so many families in our community.”

The bikes were built by employees at Herbalife’s Winston-Salem facility the day before with guidance from bike mechanics at Paul’s Cycling and Fitness.

“Herbalife, a company focused on nutrition, health and wellness, was excited to be part of the bike build and giveaway. Witnessing the childrens’ reactions when they were surprised with a new bike was priceless for our team,” said Gene Corbett, vice president of human resources at Herbalife Nutrition. “We value our long-term partnership with the Best Choice Learning Center and look forward to continuing to support their mission to educate and advocate for children in need in Winston-Salem. Herbalife also wants to thank the Bobby Labonte Foundation for their partnership. As we have seen through this event, we were able to make a significant impact on both the center itself and the children they serve.”

Before the children received their bikes, Labonte and his wife, Kristin, a former national champion cyclist, encouraged them to stay healthy by being active and to always wear helmets when riding. Hayluri Beckles, Pediatric Trauma Prevention Coordinator at Brenner Children’s Hospital and Safe Kids Northwest Piedmont Coordinator, showed them how to ride their bikes safely before the children were fitted with new helmets of their own.

“Today has been an awesome day for the Best Choice Learning Center,” said Marilyn Odom, vice president of youth services at YWCA of Winston-Salem. “We are so appreciative of the Bobby Labonte Foundation and Herbalife’s donations of bikes and helmets, plus the $20,000 financial gift. These funds will enable us to continue to help children, while the bikes will help them stay active. We’ve also learned the importance of bike safety, and we are so happy about all of it.”

Hundreds of children in the Triad have received bikes from the Bobby Labonte Foundation over the years. To find out more about the Bobby Labonte Foundation, visit bobbylabontefoundation.org.

Honda to Begin Sales of All-new ZR-V SUV in April 2023

All-new ZR-V

New value SUV features both beautiful design and driving at the will of the driver –

TOKYO, Nov 18, 2022 – (JCN Newswire) – Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will begin sales of the all-new SUV, the ZR-V, on April 21, 2023, at dealerships across Japan.

The ZR-V was developed as a model which combines “practicality,” the core value of an SUV, “reliability” based on the latest safety features and passive safety performance, distinctive “design” with a strong presence and exhilarating and comfortable “driving experience,” all on a high level.

ZR-V product page: www.honda.co.jp/ZR-V/ (Japanese only)

Key features of ZR-V

The development concept of ZR-V – Unleash Your Potential – represents Honda’s desire to enable its customers to drive their vehicle “at the will of the driver,” providing a greater sense of confidence and helping liberate them to unleash their unique personality to try something new.

Packaging

By reducing the height difference from the heel point to the hip point, a sedan-like driving position was achieved, enhancing a sense of oneness between driver and vehicle.

Exhilarating visibility, which contributes to the ease of driving, was while focusing on three key points regarding the driver’s gaze/eye movement: “not to distract the flow,” “not to interrupt the flow” and “to make it easier to grasp changes in vehicle behavior.” Based on this approach, the basic design lines which enable the driver to more easily grasp the movement direction and overall orientation of the vehicle were applied both inside and outside the vehicle. A number of packaging technologies, including the use of these basic design lines, made the ZR-V easy to drive.

All-new ZR-V offers a variety of storage spaces, which feature both beautiful design and excellent user-friendliness, ensuring utility that accommodates various customer needs. The floor of the cargo area was designed as flat as possible, and a corrugated geometric pattern created through digital modeling design(1) was adopted on the sides for the first time for any Honda vehicle in Japan, achieving uniformity in design quality and functionality that make scratches less noticeable. Moreover, the power tailgate is standard equipment for all types of ZR-V.

Design

The exterior design features flowing proportions characterized by large, smooth surfaces that flow from front to rear.

The design of the front-fascia features a vertical grille, designed in concert with surrounding areas, and sharp-looking, wide-set headlights that flow horizontally. These features create a highly sophisticated expression, yet with stature and a strong presence.

The rear of the body is shaped to emphasize the vehicle’s wide tread by adding volume around the bottom of the body, with a smooth, upswept look.

The interior features an instrument panel that stretches out horizontally in a linear fashion. Moreover, the interior design features a functional and precise finish on all parts to accentuate the beauty of the form, creating a high-quality interior space. In addition, a high-deck center console between the driver and front passenger seats offers the right amount of “personal feeling” for both driver and front passenger.

Dynamics

As the value customers feel the most in this vehicle, the development team put the highest priority on providing a “greater sense of confidence and helping liberating customers” to enjoy by driving this vehicle “at the will of the driver.” To this end, the team strived to realize a driving experience with a sense of unity, as if the driver’s intentions are directly translated into vehicle behavior. Unnecessary vehicle movements and noises were thoroughly suppressed, and a high level and constant ground contact was secured to offer greater peace of mind for all occupants.

Powertrain

The hybrid model of the all-new ZR-V will be the first Honda SUV to be equipped with the Sport e:HEV(2) that combines a 2.0-liter direct injection engine that debuted on the Civic e:HEV and the advanced 2-motor hybrid system (e-CVT). By advancing both the hardware and control software, the new e:HEV further improved fuel economy, low emission performance and quietness compared to the previous version of e:HEV, while also realizing powerful acceleration comparable to a V6 3.0-liter engine, which is only possible with a motor-driven powertrain. The all-new ZR-V e:HEV will offer a high-quality, exhilarating driving experience in various driving situations including driving on city and suburban roads, highways and winding roads.

The Real-time AWD is available on all types, including both hybrid and gasoline variations. By optimizing distribution of front and rear driving force, the tires firmly grip the road surface, enabling the driver to feel great peace of mind even while driving on slippery surfaces such as snowy roads. Moreover, the increase in rear-wheel driving force enables the driver to start and accelerate with confidence even on snowy hills.

The driver can choose from four drive modes according to the driving situation: SPORT mode(3), NORMAL mode, ECON mode and SNOW mode. The ZR-V will be the first Honda SUV in Japan to feature SNOW mode, which suppresses the amount of driving force transmitted in response to depressing the accelerator pedal and supports the driver to achieve a smooth start and acceleration even on slippery road surfaces such as snowy roads.

Safety and Peace of Mind

Honda SENSING

All ZR-V models are equipped with the latest features of the Honda SENSING(4) safety and driver-assistive system. The front wide-view camera system features a wide-angle camera with an effective horizontal viewing angle of approximately 100 degrees and a high-speed image processing chip to enhance the detection accuracy of objects for Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) and other applications. The sonar sensors mounted in four locations on both the front and rear bumpers detect objects such as exterior walls of buildings and glass at close range with a high level of accuracy, contributing to the suppression of false starts due mostly to the driver hitting the accelerator by mistake, as well as avoiding collisions. In addition, radar built into the rear bumper detects vehicles approaching from behind within 25 meters, and the system alerts the driver of the presence of a vehicle diagonally behind with indicators in the door mirror. This Blind Spot Information is a standard feature of Honda SENSING for the ZR-V.

List of Honda SENSING functions available for ZR-V (qualifies as the “Safety Sports Car S” defined by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.)
1) Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
2) Collision Mitigation Throttle Control(5)
3) Rear Collision Mitigation Throttle Control(5)
4) Low Speed Brake Function (Low speed CMBS)

Enhanced Features

BOSE Premium Sound system(7)
The audio system equipped with 12 speakers was developed jointly with BOSE to be best suited to the cabin environment of the ZR-V. The surround sound with realistic sensations and a comfortable listening experience less likely to be affected by changes in driving conditions, enables all occupants to enjoy the realistic sound experience as if they are inside a concert hall.

(1) A new design method that uses computer numerical processing to create 3D (three-dimensional) designs with smooth geometric patterns that resemble waveforms found in the natural world.
(2) e:HEV is a global communication name for Honda’s high-efficiency 2-motor hybrid system with outstanding fuel economy, which is the core of Honda’s electrification technologies. The e: represents Honda’s desire to ‘energize’ people and bring about a smile and exuberance by using ‘electricity’ as the ‘energy’.
(3) Available for all types except for Grade X of gasoline variation.
(4) Honda SENSING functions are intended to assist the driver: therefore, there is a limit to the capabilities (e.g. recognition capability and control capability) of individual functions of Honda SENSING. Please do not overestimate the capabilities of each Honda SENSING function and drive safely while paying constant attention to your surroundings. For more information about Honda SENSING, please visit, Honda website: https://www.honda.co.jp/hondasensing/
(5) Collision Mitigation Throttle Control, Rear Collision Mitigation Throttle Control and Low Speed Brake Function (Low speed CMBS) are collectively called “Low Speed Braking Control.”

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart Heads to Asia Cross Country Rally 2022 with the Triton – Rally to Start on November 21

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart

TOKYO, Nov 18, 2022 – (JCN Newswire) – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereafter, Mitsubishi Motors) announced that Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, which receives technical support from Mitsubishi Motors, will participate in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2022 to be held from November 21st with three Triton rally cars (Group T1 prototype cross-country vehicles).

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart

On the first day of the competition, the team will drive a special stage (SS) in Buriram, northeastern Thailand, followed by a ceremonial start, and then will enter a full-scale stage in Thailand from the 22nd, before reaching the goal in Siem Reap, northwestern Cambodia, on the 26th.

On November 9th, prior to the opening of the AXCR, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart carried out a shakedown of the Triton rally cars that will compete in the AXCR, on the proving ground of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MMTh) in Si Racha, Chonburi, Thailand. In previous years, the rally had been run in August during the rainy season, which created challenging routes of mud-clogged roads and river crossings, but this year, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the rally start back to the drier month of November. As a result, in addition to the tough routes, the team is anticipating dry, off-road trails and new challenges including steep gradients.

To prepare for these challenges, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart subjected the Triton rally cars to a total of 1,900 kilometers of endurance testing. After checking the reliability and durability of the rally cars while making final engine and chassis adjustments to deliver both powerful performance and ease of handling, the team was able to confirm that the cars are ready for the rally.

In Leg 0, a total of 56 machines – 21 vehicles in the motorcycle category, 2 in the sidecar category, 32 in the car category, and 1 in the truck category – will run in an opening SS in the city and then participate in the ceremonial start to be held at the Chang Arena. The rally proper begins on the 22nd with Leg 1, and will be competed over courses in the area around Buriram, until Leg 3 on the 24th. Leg 4 on the 25th takes the rally close to the Thailand and Cambodian border before crossing into Cambodia for the final Leg 5 on the 26th, to the finish line near the World Heritage site of Angkor Wat.

Hiroshi Nagaoka, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors, commented:
“The accomplished engineers of our development team, who had supported the team in winning numerous victories in the World Rally Championship and Dakar Rally, passed down the technology to our mid-career and younger generations and prepared the rally cars for the grueling AXCR. Under the leadership of team director Hiroshi Masuoka, who has won the Dakar Rally two times in a row, I am confident that the team will come together to deliver a strong performance with Mitsubishi Motors-ness. Please look forward to a great showing from Team Mitsubishi Ralliart.”

Hiroshi Masuoka, team director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, commented:
“To lead the team to victory as team director, I have drawn on my rallying know-how and experience, built the team organization, and worked to hone our cars. The Triton rally cars have improved with every running, and they are now faster, stronger, and tougher. We have a great service organization in place to support the team, allowing the drivers to apply 100 percent of their own potential. The whole team is ready for this tough challenge.”
