Six-year Cup Series veteran lends name to nationwide effort to provide financial support to children in need as ambassador to Speedway Children’s Charities nonprofit

CONCORD, N.C. (Aug. 16, 2021) – Now in his sixth season racing at NASCAR’s top level, Cup Series driver and third-generation racer Corey LaJoie is looking to make an impact off the track as an official ambassador for Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC).

“Corey has shown a tremendous passion for helping the less fortunate, especially children, and we are thrilled to partner with him to use our collective voices to raise the public profile of Speedway Children’s Charities and the hundreds of partner organizations we work with across the country,” said Marcus Smith, Speedway Children’s Charities Vice Chairman.

Founded in 1982 by Speedway Motorsports’ Executive Chairman O. Bruton Smith, Speedway Children’s Charities has established eight chapters across the country, paired with Speedway Motorsports facilities at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Sonoma Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway. Through a variety of fundraising efforts ranging from golf tournaments and black-tie galas to track ride-and-drives and race weekend raffles, chapters have raised more than $59 million dollars since the nonprofit’s inception to distribute within their local communities.

As a Speedway Children’s Charities ambassador, LaJoie will appear in Speedway Children’s Charities marketing and advertising materials, serve as a spokesman at SCC events and cross-promote SCC news and events on his social media channels, among other responsibilities.

“Traveling to the tracks, it’s hard to miss all that SCC is doing to support nonprofits serving children in need,” LaJoie said. “To be asked to be involved is an honor, and I look forward to helping all the hard-working staff and volunteers that bring the mission of SCC to life to continue to grow the charity and help serve more and more children across the country.”

Newman Hangs Tough, Earns 10th-Place Run in Chaotic Indy Finish

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (Aug. 15, 2021) – A chaotic final 20 laps at the Indianapolis Road Course Sunday gave Ryan Newman an opportunity in the Oscar Mayer Ford, and he took full advantage earning a 10th-place finish.

It marked the first time for the NASCAR Cup Series to visit the road course at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a weekend schedule that featured practice on Saturday with qualifying ahead of Sunday’s race.

Newman started the afternoon from the 32nd position, and with a lack of natural cautions early, struggled to flip the track position in his favor. The opening 35 laps saw only the two stage break cautions, before the tides turned late in the action.

The 2013 Brickyard winner had to make an unscheduled green-flag stop just five laps into the final stage after getting spun on track. The race ran caution-free for the next 28 laps until the first of two red flags were displayed after the racing surface came apart, causing a chain-reaction pileup.

Newman, however, was the recipient of the lucky dog and got back on the lead lap from the earlier incident, setting himself up for a strong run to the end. After two NASCAR overtime restart attempts, Newman fought his way through the carnage – and a combined hours’ worth of red flag delays – to bring home a 10th-place finish in the Oscar Mayer machine.

The Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway next Sunday for 400 miles. Race coverage is set for 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN and MRN, and can also be heard on SiriusXM Channel 90.

Buescher Drives Castrol Ford to 12th-Place Finish at Indianapolis

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (Aug. 15, 2021) – In one of the wildest finishes in recent NASCAR history, Roush Fenway’s Chris Buescher drove his No. 17 Castrol Ford to a 12th-place finish at the inaugural NASCAR Cup road course race at Indianapolis Speedway.

Issues with the track caused a pair of late cautions, with several cars – including Buescher’s – sustaining major damage. Still, Buescher – who restarted 21st – on the final overtime finish, was able to power is Castrol Ford from 21st to 12th on the final restart.

Making his debut in the Castrol Ford, Buescher started the race 19th, based on the morning’s qualifying session and used an alternating pit strategy to run between 10th and 25th the majority of the race. He was able to survive an array of late cautions and move on the 12th-place finish, his 10th finish of 15th or better this season.

The Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway next Sunday for 400 miles. Race coverage is set for 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN and MRN, and can also be heard on SiriusXM Channel 90.

fgrACCEL client Chris Hacker to make NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Gateway

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: fgrACCEL and Reaume Brothers Racing jointly announced today that Chris Hacker will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut in Friday night’s Toyota 200 presented by CK Power at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) at Gateway.

Hacker will drive the No. 34 Toyota Tundra, a second entry for Mooresville, N.C.-based Reaume Brothers Racing, and a teammate to the team’s other driver Armani Williams.

Hacker started his racing career at eight years old, racing in quarter midgets, where he ranked second overall in his home state of Indiana. From 2009 to 2011, he competed in the Bandolero bandits where he won the Indiana state championship back-to-back in 2010 and 2011.

After consecutive championship seasons in Bandoleros, he advanced to INEX Legend Car Series competition in 2012, where he captured the Indianapolis Speedrome Championship in the Young Lions category.

In 2013, he continued his racing resume acceleration moving from Legends Car to the Champion Racing Association Sportsman category, where he became the youngest driver to win a CRA event at age 13.

The following season, competing in the JEGS All-Star Series, he won the Sportsman of the Year award.

Hacker continued to turn heads in Late Model competition and positioned himself to move into the development ARCA Menards Series in 2020 – competing at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway driving for Fast Track Racing, finishing 15th after starting 24th.

Hacker was slated to make his debut in the premier ARCA Menards Series at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February, but COVID-19 delayed his start to Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in May where he started 12th and finished 10th in an entry fielded by Cram Motorsports.

“I am very excited to be able to make my NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at World Wide Technology Raceway with Reaume Brothers Racing,” said Hacker. “It has been a dream of mine to be a competitor in the NASCAR ranks ever since I started racing at the age of eight.

“I want to thank Josh (Reaume) and the entire Reaume Brothers Racing team for allowing me to have this opportunity and my management team at fgrACCEL for working tirelessly to make this all a reality.”

Wildwood, Missouri-based ARS Construction will serve as Hacker’s primary partner for the 16th NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race of the season.

ARS Construction is a family-owned construction firm that has been successfully servicing the greater St. Louis area since 2001. They specialize in both residential and commercial roof installs. Their multifaceted team provides general contracting services such as windows, siding, home additions, remodeling among other various contracting services.

Recently, ARS Construction expanded their same quality services to Norman, Oklahoma and Kansas.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Chris Hacker for his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut behind the No. 34 ARS Construction Toyota Tundra at World Wide Technology Raceway,” said ARS Construction owner Christian Larson.

“We are stoked by the synergies of sponsoring a truck that resembles our other 12 ARS Construction work trucks and hope that this will help facilitate a wide reach of our brand!”

Added Hacker, “There are no words to describe the support from ARS Construction. Our No. 34 ARS Construction Toyota Tundra looks amazing and I’m focused on having a positive and strong debut with them and Reaume Brothers Racing and hopefully pave the way for more opportunities in the future.”

Team principal Josh Reaume says the team is ecstatic to have Hacker join them for his NASCAR National Series debut.

“We are happy to welcome Chris to Reaume Brothers Racing,” he said. “We are excited to work with him and be a part of his journey in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He has shown us he is a good driver and we think he will do well not only at Gateway but in the series overall.”

Looking ahead, Hacker plans to compete in select ARCA and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events this season while focusing on an accelerated schedule in 2022.

Hacker, 21, is also the first NASCAR driver known to have a brachial plexus injury (BPI), also known as brachial plexus lesion. BPI is an injury to the brachial plexus, the network of nerves that conducts signals from the spinal cord to the shoulder, arm and hand.

Hacker and fgrACCEL would also like to thank fellow NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team On Point Motorsports who has been equally instrumental in preparing Hacker for his series’ debut in a variety of roles.

The 40-truck field will take the green flag on Fri., Aug. 20, 2021, shortly after 9:00 p.m. ET with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 90.

JR Motorsports’ Josh Berry to Enter Full Time Xfinity Series Competition in 2022

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 16, 2021) – JR Motorsports today named Josh Berry to drive full time in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition beginning in 2022. The 30-year-old Berry will pilot the No. 8 Chevrolet in pursuit of the NXS championship.

“This moment is something we’ve been working toward for a long time,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr., JRM team owner. “Josh took full advantage of the opportunity he had this year in the No. 8 car. He went out, raced hard, and earned every bit of this. With all he’s accomplished on a limited schedule, I can’t wait to see what he can do in this series full time.”

A native of Hendersonville, Tenn., Berry made a significant splash on the NXS circuit this season, earning a storybook victory in the No. 8 at Martinsville Speedway this past April. In 16 NXS starts (13 with JRM) in 2021, he’s padded his resume with four top-five and nine top-10 finishes. Most recently, Berry substituted for an injured Michael Annett in the team’s No. 1 entry at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Berry wheeled it to an eighth-place finish.

“It’s difficult to put into words what this means,” said Berry, who has made 23 career NXS starts since 2014. “I’m just a local short track racer, so saying this is a dream come true seems like an understatement. I’m so grateful to Dale, Kelley, L.W. [Miller] and everyone at JR Motorsports. They have always believed in me. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I’m ready and focused on 2022.”

Berry is expanding on an 11-year tenure in JRM’s late model program, where he lays claim to 89 wins, including the 2019 ValleyStar Credit Union race at Martinsville. Berry took home the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series championship in 2020, a CARS LMSC driver title in 2017, the CARS owner title in 2016 and the track championships at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway and Motor Mile (Radford, Va.) Speedway. He is the only driver in JRM history to have earned multiple championships for the organization.

Additional details regarding partners for Berry and the No. 8 team will be announced in the coming weeks.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – August 16, 2021 – Austin Cindric won in his home state of Indiana, marking his fifth win and first road course win of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

“Congratulations to Austin, Brian, Roger, and the entire No. 22 crew,” said Doug Yates, President and CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “The road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a new and unique track with its own set of challenges. I am proud of Brian and Austin for a well-executed race and a monumental win for Roger Penske, Team Penske, and the Cindric family.”

Cindric started the race in 2nd position and was able to maintain his spot at the front of the field avoiding a multiple car incident at the turtle in Turn 6 early in the race. After taking the lead in Stage 3, Cindric pulled away from the rest of the field and led a race high 29 out of 62 laps, winning the race by 2.108 seconds.

“I am so proud to be a part of this Penske family with PPG and Ford and everyone that has put so much into my career. This racetrack is so much deeper than just that with my family history and what this place means to me. I can’t even put into words what it means to win at Indianapolis,” commented Cindric.

Ford Performance teammate Riley Herbst with Stewart-Haas Racing finished in P8.

The NASCAR Cup Series raced on Sunday where Cindric also took home a 9th place finish. Ford teammates Ryan Blaney with Team Penske finished P2, Matt DiBenedetto with Wood Brothers Racing finished P5, and Ryan Newman with Roush Fenway Racing finished P10.

The NASCAR Cup & Xfinity Series is headed to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan this weekend. The NACAR Cup Series has two remaining races left before the 2021 playoffs stage is set.

M&M’S MIX Racing: Kyle Busch Indianapolis Road Course Race Recap

Kyle Busch, No. 18 M&M’S MIX Toyota Camry
Race Recap for the Verizon 200

Date: Aug. 15, 2021
Event: Verizon 200 at the Brickyard (Round 24 of 36)
Series: NASCAR Cup Series
Location: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course (2.534-mile, 13-turn road course)
Format: 82 laps, broken into three stages (15 laps/20 laps/47 laps)
Start/Finish: 21st / 20th (Running, completed 95 of 95 laps)
Point Standing: 3rd with 796 points, 157 behind leader
Note: Race extended 13 laps past its scheduled 82-lap distance due to a green-white-checkered finish.
Race Winner: AJ Allmendinger of Kaulig Racing (Chevrolet)
Stage 1 Winner: Tyler Reddick of Richard Childress Racing (Chevrolet)
Stage 2 Winner: Tyler Reddick of Richard Childress Racing (Chevrolet)

Stage 1 Recap (Laps 1-15):

● Kyle Busch started 21st and finished 18th.
● The No. 18 M&M’S MIX Toyota had a disappointing qualifying position of 21st but didn’t stay there for long, as Busch moved up into the top-15 by lap four and up to 12th by lap six.
● Busch came to pit road for the first time on lap 12, three laps short of the end of the stage.
● With many cars choosing to stay out until the stage break, Busch finished 18th in Stage 1.

Stage 2 Recap (Laps 16-35):

● Busch started eighth and finished 12th.
● The Las Vegas native moved up to eighth on the restart after the cars that stayed out the full first stage came to pit road during the stage break.● Busch moved up very quickly through the field following the restart, running fourth on lap 22 and up to third by lap 26.
● The M&M’S MIX driver maintained his third position until he came to pit road on lap 33 to take on four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment.
● Again, several other teams decided to stay out the entire stage, and Busch came home 12th for Stage 2.

Stage 3 Recap (Laps 36-95):

● Busch started third and finished 20th.
● The M&M’S MIX driver was back up to third on the restart for the final stage after several cars pitted during the stage break.
● Busch slipped to fifth shortly after the restart.
● The two-time Cup Series champion found himself in the top-five when a late-race caution came out, forcing most of the field to come down pit road and take on their last set of tires.
● The No. 18 team got Busch two spots off pit road, and he restarted seventh.
● Busch picked off several spots and found himself well-situated in fourth for what looked to be a six-lap shootout.
● But in an unfortunate turn of events affecting Busch and several other drivers, the track curbing in turns five and six came up. Contact with the loose curbing tore out the oil pan of William Byron ahead of Busch, sending Byron, Busch and countless others spinning through the grass.
● Busch had left-front damage that needed to be repaired by the M&M’S Mix team, putting the chance of a win out of reach. Busch just got what he could over the course of several late cautions and two red flags to bring home a 20th-place finish.

Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 M&M’S MIX Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing:

“We had a lot better M&M’S MIX Camry than we showed in qualifying. We had a pretty good race pace and thought we had a shot at a top-five finish. But the curb thing happened there and sent us spinning, and that ended our chances at a good finish. We’ll move onto Michigan.”

Next Up:

The next event on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule is the FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday, Aug. 22, at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The race starts at 3 p.m. EDT with live coverage on NBCSN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
