Cody Webb has a clean sweep of the RevLimiter Extreme

Bridgeport, TX – FactoryONE Sherco pilot Cody Webb had a very memorable weekend at the RevLimiter Extreme, which is the East / West shootout of the Kenda AMA Extreme Off-Road Series. On Saturday, he set the standard during the qualification hot lap, followed by Ryder Leblond and Trystan Hart. Record setting AMA trials champion Pat Smage took his first crack at an AMA major and qualified 7th on his Sherco 300. This, while having to start second to last in the Pro class. This hot lap would set the stage for Sunday’s 3 moto format on some of North Texas’ gnarliest terrain.

Moto one would see Webb lead wire to wire over the course of the two-hour race. He would win the moto with a 3:08 advantage over Red Bull KTM’s Trystan Hart and Rockstar Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker, who was another 4:42 adrift. Pat Smage had some great battles with Magna1 Husqvarna rider Jordan Ashburn during the race and finish 6th in his maiden moto.

Moto two, which was altered to a one lap format from the original two due to the rising Texas temperatures, would again see Webb rocket out to the front in the dry and dusty conditions and not relinquish that lead. Webb seemed to master the rock gardens and steep ascents, almost as if he was on a Sunday cruise. He would finish 1:50 over Hart and 6:31 to Haaker in 3rd. Smage would finish 7th in moto two.

Moto three saw the top 30 riders of the weekend shoot it out on a shortened course. This course contained most all of the top obstacles of the weekend. Named sections like Big Bertha, Mount Rushmore, Pucker Hill, Red Bull Rollercoaster and the newly added and simply put, “The Hill.” Instead of the usual 10 riders to a row, all 30 lined up bar to bar. This almost proved costly for Webb as a host of riders battled for line choice entering the first rock. Cooper Abbott and Webb would bang bars and almost go down, putting Webb 10th in the running order early on. By the time the riders reached Mount Rushmore, Jordan Ashburn would have a small lead on a quintet of riders which included Hart, Haaker, Leblond, Webb and Pat Smage.

Cody Webb moved to the head of the field as the riders re-entered the quarry. From that point, he would never look back over the 3-lap moto. At the exit of the quarry and Just before the finish line, riders would have to take on “The Hill.”  This loose, seemingly impossible ultra-steep grade climb would have scores of fans in awe as rider after rider would send it up the hill. There were some cleans and some ghost rides, even by Cody Webb, but it would not be the undoing of any. Cody Webb would win moto 3 by a margin of 1:42 over Hart, followed by Ryder Leblond. Pat Smage would finish P5 in the final moto.

Men Overall Results:
Cody Webb – FactoryONE Sherco – P1
Trystan Hart – Red Bull KTM – P2
Colton Haaker – Rockstar Husqvarna – P3
Ryder Leblond – DRT Husqvarna – P4
Jordan Ashburn – Magna1 Husqvarna – P5
Pat Smage – FactoryONe Sherco – P6

Other Sherco:
Nick Fahringer – P15
Logan Bolapue – P16
Jackson Davis – P21

The Pro women would race on Saturday morning during the amateur qualifier. FactoryONE Sherco’s Louise Forsley would take the hole-shot and battle back and forth with KTM’s Shelby Turner and Beta’s Rachel Gutish. Misfortune would come to Forsley as she took in an entire snow fence in her rear brake rotor and sprocket as she attempted the water fall climb. This would lead to a lengthy delay as she had to stop to remove the shredded plastic. She was more than 9:00 down to Gutish as they re-entered the water fall on lap two, but would charge hard in the final half of the lap to finish 5:07 behind.

Women Pro Podium:
Shelby Turner – KTM – P1
Rachel Gutish – Beta – P2
Louise Forsley – FactoryONE Sherco – P3

Buescher Bounces Back to a 13th-place finish at Martinsville

RIDGEWAY, Va. (April 11, 2021) – After sustaining major damage in a multi-car pileup in the final stage of racing, Chris Buescher and the No. 17 Fastenal Ford team bounced back to finish 13th Sunday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway.

“Good night at Martinsville for our Fastenal Ford Mustang team,” Buescher said. “The team did a really good job fixing stuff when we needed it to be fixed. It wasn’t the smoothest, but we got it done. At the end of the day, we had a pretty decent run here. I’m happy with how we got better at the end.”

Buescher rolled off the grid 15th on Saturday night and took several caution laps as the track continued to dry before going green. In just 15 short laps, Buescher gained three spots to take over 12th where he held steady until a caution at lap 36. Soon after pit stops cycled through, the race was red flagged for inclement weather and postponed to Sunday afternoon. When the race restarted, Buescher fired off 14th, but was quickly shuffled back to 17th, holding track position long enough to finish the stage in the same spot.

At the stage break, the team pitted for fuel, four tires, and adjustments to restart 17th. For the majority of the stage the driver shuffled from 17-20th, going a lap down around lap 217. When the caution flag waved with 20 to go in the stage, Buescher received the free pass. The team pitted for tires and fuel and got back on track for what would be a two-lap shootout to end the stage. Buescher took the green-white checkered in 14th for stage two.

The Prosper, Texas native pitted for four tires and fuel to restart 18th for the final stage of racing at Martinsville. Shortly after the race went back to green, a caution came out at lap 277. The No. 17 team returned to pit road for fresh tires and more fuel to then restart 20th. Not long after going green, another caution flag waved and Buescher stayed out on track to secure a fifth-place restart position. The driver stayed inside the top-10 and was running ninth when yet another caution flag waved at lap 321. About four laps after the team’s pit stop and restart, the 10th caution of the race came out. Pitting with the last caution, Buescher stayed out for track position to restart 10th. A couple more caution flags waved but the driver continued to drive in and around the top-10, never falling below 15th. With 123 laps to go, Buescher was running 14th when he was involved in a multi-car pileup that sent the race to red. Fortunately, when the race returned to yellow the No. 17 team was able to repair most damage after three trips down pit road. When the race returned to green, Buescher restarted 17th, but held track position, looking for an opportunity to move forward. With just 13 to go, the driver made it up to 15th and gained two more spots to take the checkered flag in 13th.

Buescher and the No. 17 team return to Virginia as they head to Richmond Raceway on Sunday, April 18th at 3 p.m. EST on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.

Newman Finishes 19th in Rollercoaster Race at Martinsville

RIDGEWAY, Va. (April 11, 2021) – Ryan Newman’s final result wasn’t indicative of his overall performance at Martinsville Speedway, as he and the Guaranteed Rate team ran inside the top-five midway through the race and had to overcome two different on-track incidents, before ultimately finishing 19th.

The 500-lap race was lengthy in more than one way, as heavy rains entered the Virginia area late Saturday, halting what was a short-lived start to the spring event. Just 42 laps were completed Saturday night, which setup a 4 p.m. resumption of the remaining laps on the .526-mile track on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Newman was just two laps shy of turning an eventful day into a solid 12th-place run, but a flat left rear tire spoiled that, relegating him to 19th. The left rear was one of the many areas of his No. 6 machine that received dents and dings, a common theme at NASCAR’s tightest track.

After originally rolling off eighth Saturday night, the South Bend, Indiana, native would finish the opening stage in 16th, reporting mostly free conditions. He began the second 130-lap segment just one spot off that in what was the start of a flurry of cautions – 15 in the race to be exact – as he was unfortunately caught up in one at lap 250, when he suffered left rear damage.

With mostly cosmetic issues along the left side, the team went to work under yellow and sent him back out 20th for a two-lap shootout to the stage break, where he crossed the line 21st at lap 260. Having just hit pit road, he would stay out under the stage break and restart 10th, but only seven green-flag laps would pass, as he ran 15th by the next yellow and hit pit road again at lap 277.

That stop served as his last one for a while though, as another yellow flew at lap 289, setting him up for perfect track position on the ensuing restart when most of the field hit pit road. He fired off second for a restart at lap 296, and over the course of three additional cautions remained well inside the top-10.

But at lap 350, he was again the unlucky car to go for a spin, this time off the front bumper of someone behind, pushing him back in the field yet again. With the availability of tires already a concern with still 150 laps to be run, the team put on a set of scuff tires under the ensuing caution, sending Newman back out 25th for the restart.

Over the course of the next 20 laps Newman worked his way back near the top-15, when the field was halted and sent to red-flag conditions after a multi-car pileup, one that would end the afternoon for numerous machines. This time though, Newman was clear of the wreckage and ultimately restarted 12th with 104 to go.

Just after the restart he powered as high as eighth and shuffled back to 11th with 70 laps remaining. The final yellow of the long race flew at lap 451 with Newman 12th. He hit pit road one final time – again for scuffed tires – and fired off 11th with 42 to go. But, with the battle for each position heating up as the laps wound down, Newman was tagged again on the left rear, eventually causing a tire rub that would cut down the tire with just two laps to go, resulting in the 19th-place finish.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads right back to Virginia next weekend for another short-track event, this time at Richmond Raceway. Race coverage next Sunday afternoon is set for 3 p.m. ET on FOX. Coverage can also be heard on MRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.

DiBenedetto Rebounds From Crash Damage to Finish 12th at Martinsville

Matt DiBenedetto and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team rallied from a mid-race incident that resulted in significant damage to the No. 21 Mustang and came home with a 12th place finish in Sunday’s Blue Emu 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

DiBenedetto started the 500-lap race from 22nd place on Saturday night, and had moved to 15th place when rain halted the race after just 42 circuits.

When rain continued into the night, the race was postponed until 4 p.m. on Sunday. When the action resumed, DiBenedetto and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team showed good speed and were running 13th at the end of the first 130-lap Stage.

In Stage Two, he continued to run just outside the top 10 until the closing laps when he was unable to avoid spinning drivers ahead of him. The contact crumpled the right front fender of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang, with damage also to the splitter and the front sway bar connection.

Quick work by the Motorcraft/Quick Lane crew led by Jonathan Hassler, filling in for Greg Erwin who contracted COVID-19, allowed DiBenedetto to rejoin the race in 26th place, just one lap down.

He drove his way into the free pass position and rejoined the lead lap when Kyle Busch and Chris Buescher spun as they raced beside him with 178 laps remaining in the race.

Back on the lead lap, he continued to work his way forward, and was able to avoid several accidents. He also steered clear of significant damage when 11 drivers piled up on the backstretch with 114 laps remaining, bringing out the red flag.

When the green flag was displayed again, DiBenedetto was able to move from 16th place to 12th at the checkered flag. It was his fourth straight top-15 finish.

“Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang was pretty good to start with,” DiBenedetto said. “It had a lot of potential. It could have been a pretty big day for us.”

Then came the damage.

“When Ryan Newman spun in front of me, I just didn’t have anywhere to go,” he said.

But what might have been a disappointing day turned into one to be proud of.

“To come from getting all that damage and losing a lap to getting the lucky dog [free pass] and getting back on the lead lap and finishing 12th was pretty impressive,” DiBenedetto said. “Nobody on the team gave up. Everyone just kept grinding away at it, and we wound up with a decent finish.”

Part of that success included DiBenedetto dodging numerous crashes, many of which occurred just ahead of or beside him.

“It went on the whole day,” he said. “I’m tired. We evaded enough for 10 races.”

Next up for DiBenedetto and the No. 21 team is a Sunday afternoon 400-lapper at Richmond Raceway.

Austin Dillon and the No. 3 American Ethanol Chevrolet Team Post Solid Performance at Martinsville Speedway Despite Adversity-Filled Day

Finish: 14th
Start: 18th
Points: 12th

“It was a marathon this weekend at Martinsville Speedway in the American Ethanol Chevrolet. We faced a lot of adversity. The entire right side of our Chevy was gone by the end of the race. There was just a lot of beating and banging out there today. We got our car handling pretty well but were held on pit road for a lap as a penalty for pitting outside the box. We lost our track position but did a good job of trying to work our way back to the front. The handling of our Chevy just wasn’t what it needed to be once it got dark outside. The track changed too much. We’ll go get them at Richmond Raceway on Sunday.” -Austin Dillon

Tyler Reddick and No. 8 Childress Vineyards Chevrolet Team Leverage Long Run Speed for Eighth-Place Finish at Martinsville Speedway

Finish: 8th
Start: 13th
Points: 21st

“Today was a good day for our No. 8 Childress Vineyards Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, but we definitely had to fight for it. I learned a lot about racing at Martinsville Speedway over the course of the weekend. We fired off strong Saturday night and were able to work our way up a handful of spots after having to start from the rear of the field due to an unapproved adjustment. Then the rain came through and postponed the race, but that also gave our team a good chance to talk about what we had and what we needed to work on. Once we got back going today, I had really good long run speed and was able to use that to capitalize on some good runs to get into the top 10 and grab stage points at the end of Stage 2. I needed more center turn and to be a little looser during that span of short runs that came in the middle of Stage 3 when we had all those back-to-back yellows while being shuffled back a little bit due to our pit cycle. Luckily, the final run of the race was a longer one that allowed us to bring home a top-10 finish. Overall, this was a good weekend for our team and I’m looking forward to carrying this momentum into next weekend’s race at Richmond.”

How Can I Decorate My Driveway?

Photo by John Wilson on Unsplash

It is safe to say that almost all houses in the US have their driveways. Although you and your neighbors might not say it out loud, it feels good to have a little competition with your neighbors, am I right?

From your patio to your cars, or even to your asphalt residential driveway, you want yours to look better than theirs. This is why you often see different kinds of driveways in the neighborhood with their unique decorations and designs. If you want to step up your game and make your driveway better than your neighbors’, this article might help. Here are some ways how you can decorate your driveway.

1. Outdoor water fountain

If you want to decorate your driveway to make it stand out, you must add an outdoor water feature to your driveway. Having a water fountain is the easiest way to amp up your dull-looking driveway.

Whether you have a semi-curve driveway or a full-circle one, placing an outdoor water fountain in the middle would be perfect like the ones you see in movies. The water fountain could also become the star of your driveway, which is why you should pick the right water fountain design.

Various outdoor fountains are available in shops and on the internet. You can choose the design you want, but ensure it complements your house’s overall look.

2. Add some lights

Another idea for decorating your driveway is to place some outdoor pathway lights. This would only work at night, but I can assure you that you won’t regret following this idea.

You can add some LED lights to the driveway from the start to the very end to create a light effect when you drive in or out of your house. You can also buy several outdoor pathway lights in the driveway to create a spotlight effect.

Not only can it beautify your driveway, but it can also be useful for lighting up your outdoor area and highlighting the exterior design of your house.

If you want to decorate for a birthday or during the holidays, you can always use yard signs.

3. Try the modern update.

Although the traditional pathways are still exceptional, we cannot deny that this design is already prevalent. We often see the paved driveway, paths made from bricks, those concrete ones, and especially the landscaped driveway.

If you want something new, try to hire a company like JBS Construction which provides Concrete Driveways Milwaukee to install a modernized driveway in your home. One example of a modernized driveway is one with crushed marble, blue fescue, and weathered steel for a vintage effect.

4. Add a gate

If you are willing to invest some money to beautify your driveway, then you might as well give your driveway a gate. You can add whatever gate you want, which would definitely enhance the look of your driveway. This project might take a long time, but you will not be disappointed with the results.

These are several suggestions on how you can decorate your driveway. According to Asphalt Industrial, you may want your driveway to look attractive, but you must also consider that it is safe and long-lasting. There are many more ideas on the internet on how to transform your driveway and make it look attractive, but rest assured, your driveway would have that elegant and luxurious look with these four ideas.

How To Create An Elegant And Luxurious Garage

Photo by Pieter Benjamin Nijs on Unsplash

If you have several luxurious cars, that means that you are fortunate enough to live in an upscale home. You are also expected to be wealthy, given that you own a variety of expensive cars. These cars are not to be taken for granted, which is why you need to leave a room for your garage. Your garage should be spacious enough for your cars and also safely hidden to avoid getting stolen.

If you already have a garage, you might as well put effort into making the room elegant and luxurious looking by adding some unique decorations.

Read on to learn more tips on how you can create an impressive and luxurious garage.

1.Water features

Nothing is more attractive than a water fountain designed to give a sense of luxury to any area in your house. Having a modern-looking water feature in your garage would be perfect if you want to transform your garage’s look. Modern water features come in a variety of styles and designs that would perfectly fit into any garage.

You can also match the water fountains with the color or designs of your cars to bring out their beauty. Don’t worry about the space of your garage because modern water features have different shapes and sizes. If there’s limited space, you can choose smaller water features that still integrate elegance and luxury.

2.Car lifts

Having a car lift in your garage is a practical thing to do, especially when you think your garage is not spacious enough. Car lifts are more cost-efficient and space-saving too. If you install a car lift in your garage, you won’t be needing a garage expansion to park two cars in one parking slot.

But that’s not the only thing that car lifts can offer, and they can also make your garage look stunning and beautiful by allowing your cars to be showcased and displayed. Just imagine opening your garage, and your guests see the whole part of your luxury car. That would definitely leave them speechless.

3.Lighting

If you want to create an elegant and attractive-looking garage, you should choose the proper lighting to complement your cars and the entire room. There are a variety of unique ideas on how to design the lighting of your garage.

Some have strip lines of light that show coolness, some have brighter lights to complement the car, and some installed LED lights to make the area look more attractive. You can look for unique ideas online and follow their tips.

But take note of the things that you should consider before installing any kind of light in your garage. There are many factors to consider, such as the walls, minor decorations, the color of your luxury cars, and more.

This area of your house is often disregarded because homeowners only think of it as a place for your car to be stored safely. Little did they know that having an attractive and expensive-looking garage is a game-changer if you want to amaze people with interior designs.

Martin Truex Jr. triumphs at Martinsville, winning his second race of the season

Photo by Ted Seminara for SpeedwayMedia.com.

Martin Truex Jr. scored his second victory of the year at Martinsville Speedway Sunday night becoming the first multi-race winner in the NASCAR Cup Series this season.

It was his 29th victory in 558 Cup Series starts and his third win at Martinsville Speedway. He only led 20 laps in his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota but his car was dominant when it mattered most.

“Yeah, it was interesting how it all played out there,” Truex said. “I thought throughout the day we were a third to a fifth-place car in there. At one point in the middle of the race we got off a little bit, probably a sixth or seventh-place car. It was kind of a weird day.

“Proud of the guys for working hard on it. They did a great job. That last pit stop we were able to get us the lead. Couldn’t quite hold off the 11 (Hamlin) on that restart. He was really fast firing off. Just tried to stay with him and take care of my car. Knew there was enough laps left that tire wear in the long run was going to come into play.

“He started getting tight, our car was getting better and better. We were able to take advantage of it. Really happy. For whatever reason our car really turned on when the lights went down. Always good when a plan comes together and it works out the way you hoped it would.”

The Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 race was originally scheduled for Saturday night but due to persistent rain, only 42 laps were completed before it was postponed to Sunday at 4 p.m. where it resumed under caution, with Denny Hamlin leading the field to green.

It was typical short-track racing with 15 cautions for 102 laps.

The 14th caution occurred on Lap 386 and was a game-changer for several drivers and teams. It began when Chris Buescher and Kyle Busch made contact, bringing the field to a halt, collecting 10 more cars in the ensuing chaos, and leaving the cars of Ryan Preece and Daniel Suarez on fire.

Three of the Hendrick Motorsports cars, however, finished in the top five. Chase Elliott earned a runner-up finish, William Byron was fourth and Kyle Larson was fifth.

Elliott described the finish as “hard fought.”

“We were not great, he said, “our strong suit was kind of early on in the run, then really faded hard, too hard there latter part of a run. But we never got one of those super long runs, which is probably a good thing for us because we were struggling on that end. But, yeah, proud we could fight back. We had a long day with strategy not going our way, restart lane choice at times was tough. I’m glad we were able to get back in the fight there and give ourselves a chance.”

Truex’s teammate, Denny Hamlin and Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney had the most impressive cars throughout much of the race. Hamlin led a race-high 276 laps but was unable to carry the momentum to the end, finishing third.

Blaney won Stage 1 and 2, leading 157 laps, but received a penalty for an air hose out of the team’s pit stall on his final pit stop. After restarting as the last car on the lead lap in 19th place he rebounded to finish 11th.

Hamlin described the issues he faced with his car.

“Had a really good car on the short run all day. Got great restarts, was fast for 25, 30 laps. Then it seemed like guys would start catching us. Unfortunately, it was just too many laps there at the end that we couldn’t hold those guys off. At least gave ourselves a chance by getting a good restart there and getting in front of Martin.

“Ultimately they were running better, turning the corner, getting off than we were. Came up short again.”

Hamlin leads the points standings with 379 points followed by Truex (-76), Joey Logano (-77), Kyle Larson (-99) and Ryan Blaney (-107).

Next up, the Cup Series travels to Richmond Raceway on Sunday, April 18 at 3 p.m. ET with broadcast coverage on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

TEAM CHEVY POST-RACE NOTES AND QUOTES:

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 2nd
YOU WERE COMING ON STRONG THERE AT THE END, CHASE. DID THE CAR GET BETTER OR WAS THAT JUST CIRCUMSTANCE?
“I really felt like we were not perfect, for sure, all day. But we did make it better I think as the day went on. The run was kind of that right distance for me there at the end to maximize it. I felt like if it was any longer than that, I was probably going to fade again kind of like I had been all day.”

“I really appreciate the effort. We worked really hard today to get back to second. I felt like every strategy call and circumstance just kind of went the other direction for us. We had a couple of good restarts there at the end; had a good pit stop and made a good last adjustment just for a short run. But definitely need to be better. Our NAPA team has been working hard. We’ve had a very eventful year I feel like, so it’s nice to just have a solid day. We got some stage points and got a good finish. We’ll try to go get them next week.”

WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 LIBERTY UNIVERSITY CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 4th
“It was a hard-fought day for us. We had handling issues early on and then once we got back further in the pack – it was just crazy. We had fresh tires and the speed but had to manage traffic. Once we got track position back we were making up ground but got held up a couple times which hurt us. Overall though we had a fast Liberty University Chevy. It was a good day and we learned a lot. On to Richmond next weekend.”

KYLE LARSON, NO. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 5th
“Yeah, definitely the restarts were crazy. I didn’t have the best balance on the restarts and that made it even a little crazier for me because I was kind of on defense, I felt like, most of the time. Even when I was on offense, I was kind of on-edge. But after we would get 15 to 20 laps in, I actually felt really good. I felt like we were probably a fourth-place car on the long runs, so I was happy about that. To get a top-five here at probably, by far, my worst race track feels like a win.”

TYLER REDDICK, NO. 8 CHILDRESS VINEYARDS CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 8th
I needed more center turn and to be a little looser during that span of short runs that came in the middle of Stage 3 when we had all those back-to-back yellows while being shuffled back a little bit due to our pit cycle, but luckily the final run of the race was a longer one that allowed us to bring home a top-10 finish. Overall, this was a good weekend for our team and I’m looking forward to carrying this momentum into next weekend’s race at Richmond.”

AUSTIN DILLON, NO. 3 AMERICAN ETHANOL CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 14th
“It was a marathon this weekend at Martinsville Speedway in the American Ethanol Chevrolet. We faced a lot of adversity. The entire right side of our Chevy was gone by the end of the race. There was just a lot of beating and banging out there today. We got our car handling pretty well, but were held on pit road for a lap as a penalty for pitting outside the box. We lost our track position but did a good job of trying to work our way back to the front. The handling of our Chevy just wasn’t what it needed to be once it got dark outside. The track changed too much. We’ll go get them at Richmond Raceway on Sunday.”

RICKY STENHOUSE JR., NO. 47 KROGER/CREST CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 15th
“It wasn’t pretty, but we were able to salvage a decent day at Martinsville Speedway for our No. 47 Kroger/Crest Chevy. We really struggled to get the right balance throughout the majority of the race, but Brian (Pattie, crew chief) made some strategy calls to keep us in a position where we could maintain our track position and stay on the lead lap, and ultimately race in the top-15 for the majority of the end of the race and miss the big wreck that took out our teammate. We were really fast at Richmond Raceway last year and I’m looking forward to getting there next week and keeping our momentum going.”

ERIK JONES, NO. 43 PETTY’S GARAGE CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 30th
“It just wasn’t the day we really wanted for the No. 43 Petty’s Garage Camaro ZL1 1LE. It was just up-and-down trying to find a balance to get the car where it could roll the center and not be too free. I finally felt we kind of got the car where we wanted to be towards the end. We had those string of cautions and got caught up in one of the later wrecks. We really didn’t have too much damage, but I had either an axle or a gear issue that ended our day there. I wish we could have seen where we would have ended up. I think we probably could have drove up towards the top-15, maybe even the back of the top-10. We learned a lot though and I think we can take it to the race coming back to Martinsville Speedway in the fall.”

DANIEL SUAREZ, NO. 99 CAMPING WORLD CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Sidelined by damage sustained in an accident on lap 385; Finished 32nd
THANKFULLY, YOU GOT OUT AND YOU’RE OK. DANIEL, WHAT DID YOU SEE FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE THAT LED TO THAT?
“First of all, I saw a couple of cars on fire, so luckily nobody got hurt. I was a bit surprised that the safety people took a long time to get to my car. I tried to make sure everything was good to stop the fire, but for some reason, they just weren’t stopping the fire. In that wreck, there wasn’t really anything I could do. I was trying to slam on the brakes to try to slow down, but it was a parking lot in there. I couldn’t do anything about it. The No. 24 car (William Byron) put us in that position; he pushed me out of the way. I had a few laps older tires than everyone else.”

“But overall, we have to keep working. This weekend, overall, wasn’t great. We came from the back several times. We had a fast car, but we made bad adjustments. It just wasn’t a clean weekend.”

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Sidelined by damage sustained in an accident on lap 385; Finished 34th
ALEX BOWMAN WAS ONE OF THE FASTEST CARS TODAY. THEN, HE HAD A LOOSE WHEEL AND RIGHT AFTER THAT IS THE CARNAGE YOU JUST SAW. HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED HERE IN THE LAST TWENTY MINUTES?
“It’s very frustrating. I hate it for everybody at Hendrick Motorsports; everybody at Ally and Chevrolet that gives us so much support. Everybody works so hard to give us what we need and we had such a good race car today; such a fast Ally Camaro. I had a loose right-front wheel and that’s just part of racing; things are going to happen. Our pit crew is phenomenal every week. I make mistakes, people make mistakes, it happens. It put us behind the eight ball there and then they all crashed in front of me. I stopped and the guys behind me didn’t stop. It was one of those deals.”

“I hate it. I feel like we had a car capable of winning, which says a lot because I drive this place completely wrong. I’m so bad here. Greg (Ives, Crew Chief), everybody on this No. 48 team have their work cut out for them to make a car work for me and they did that this week. It was phenomenal; couldn’t ask anything more of it, but not much to show for it.”

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 1LE, SECOND-PLACE PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT:
THE MODERATOR: We are joined now by today’s runner-up, Chase Elliott.
Chase, walk us through your second-place finish today.

CHASE ELLIOTT: Yeah, really, really hard-fought second actually for us. We were not great, but had some, I guess our strong suit was kind of early on in the run, then really faded hard, too hard there latter part of a run.

But we never got one of those super long runs, which is probably a good thing for us because we were struggling on that end. But, yeah, proud we could fight back. We had a long day with strategy not going our way, restart lane choice at times was tough. I’m glad we were able to get back in the fight there and give ourselves a chance.

THE MODERATOR: We’re going to open the floor for questions.
Q. Chase, does this do anything for you for October when you look ahead, this being such a pivotal race?
CHASE ELLIOTT: Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think this is an important race. They’re all important, but for sure, when you get down to that Round of 8, if you’re still alive in that deal, a win at any of those tracks gives you an opportunity. Of course, definitely.

As long as it’s where it’s at in the final 10, it will always be an important race.

Q. You just said on FOX Sports, you described this as an eventful year so far. How challenging has the season been for you guys so far, now being your third top five of the year after coming off a championship?
CHASE ELLIOTT: Yeah, I mean, like I said, every week I feel like it’s been one thing or another, a bad run or just whatever. Just nice to have just a smooth day, no damage. We didn’t break anything. Everything was just smooth. It was uneventful. That’s the days you have to have to compete for wins ultimately. Some of that is in your hands, some of it’s not.
Truly nice to have an uneventful day, so to speak, just get a solid finish. Got some solid stage points. It was definitely a step in the right direction for us.

Q. With today’s solid performance, Truex gets his second win of the season, how important is it going to be moving forward to get multiple wins? Do you think kind of where we’re at in points, what you’ve got right now, is going to be okay? Is it still pivotal to get multiples?
CHASE ELLIOTT: I mean, I definitely think winning is a crucial part to the Playoffs. It doesn’t guarantee you as you go along. It sure does hedge your bet and having a successful Playoff run if you have wins in the bank.

I want to be on that side of the fence when that rolls around rather than in the opposite position.

Q. What do you feel you were missing there at the end in relation to the Joe Gibbs Racing duo?
CHASE ELLIOTT: Just rear grip for me was kind of the story of my day. That was also the problem there at the end. Just didn’t have the drive I needed to get up off the corner like I wanted and to be able to really get the power down early.
Yeah, solid day, but just came up short.

Q. Can you talk about the rocky start you’ve had to the season? How much momentum and confidence does this give you towards Richmond and beyond?
CHASE ELLIOTT: Like I said earlier, just nice to have an uneventful day, so to speak. Just have some nice stage points, have a nice finish, those things are always nice. I feel like we had a mistake-free day, which is what you have to have, so it was good.

THE MODERATOR: Thanks for joining us, Chase. Good luck at Richmond.

CHASE ELLIOTT: Cool. Thanks.

TOYOTA QUOTES

MARTIN TRUEX JR., No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Finishing Position: 1st

You were strong all day, but at the end of the race that car came to life. How did you score the win?

“It was pretty incredible there at the end. The Bass Pro Toyota – James (Small, crew chief) and the guys really hung with me all day. We never could get quite where we wanted it. It started getting dark and she came to life. Thankful to Reser’s Fine Foods, Bass Pro Shops, all of these great fans. Thank y’all for coming out. I hope y’all enjoyed it. We love seeing you. Just thanks to all of the partners – Auto Owners, Toyota, TRD, Sherwin Williams, Textron Aviation, Noble Airspace. We got so many people that help us out. I can’t believe we won here again after not having the dominate car here today for sure. That was a lot of fun there racing at the end with Denny (Hamlin). We raced clean and we were able to come out on top.”

How difficult is it to race a teammate for a win?

“It’s definitely difficult. We try to race hard, race clean. He was making it difficult on me. I was loose coming off of the corners and his car got tight, so we kind of had opposite things going on and it made it difficult to pass, but we played nice and Coach (Joe Gibbs, team owner) will be happy. It will be a cordial meeting tomorrow.”

Is it hard to believe that you have now won for the third time at Martinsville?

“This is unbelievable. This place has become a playground for us I guess. We didn’t have the best car all day, but we just kept working on it and never quit on it. Proud of James (Small, crew chief) and all the guys. This Bass Pro/Tracker Toyota Camry came on at the end and that’s when it counts. There’s something about when the lights come on here, we’re really good so that was cool.”

What was the battle like in the closing laps with Denny Hamlin?

“It was good, hard, clean hard racing. He (Denny Hamlin) was getting tight. I couldn’t get the power down so we kind of had opposite things going on there. I could get inside of him, but I couldn’t clear him, he could get the power down on me. It was a fun battle and it was a clean battle. Coach (Joe Gibbs, team owner) will be happy tomorrow. We didn’t make each other mad or do anything stupid.”

What has changed in recent years with your wins now coming at more short tracks?

“Just continuing to work with my team on the cars and the setups. They’ve been able to make the cars do what I need them to do and that was something I’ve been missing for a long time. Great race cars. Thanks to JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) and everyone back at the shop and everyone on this No. 19 Bass Pro Camry team. They do an awesome job. We keep tweaking on it and tweaking on it. For awhile there, I’m like, man, maybe we shouldn’t have done a few of the thing that we did, but here we are. Like I said, when the lights come on for some reason our cars get really fast.”

Are you shocked to think you’re about to go receive your third Grandfather clock?

“There was a time when I thought there was no chance in hell I’d have a clock so to have three and to have a shot at even more than that has been amazing. Thank you all.”

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx OfficeToyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Finishing Position: 3rd

In a perfect scenario, what would you have done differently to hold off your teammate?
“That’s just the cards we were dealt. We had a really good short run car. We just didn’t have a good long run car. We saved a set of tires – we had the tire advantage – but we couldn’t get the car to turn on the long run. That was the bugaboo, you could say, but overall, the FedEx Camry team performed well. We had a really fast car for 20 laps or so, and then it would just kind of go away. Fortunate for us, we had a great day and had ourselves a shot at it, but just wasn’t quite good enough.”

You were strong on short runs all day, but was the run at the end just too long?

“Yeah, basically. We had a fast car for 20 or 25 laps especially, but after that our car just faded and didn’t have the grip that the 12 (Ryan Blaney) or certainly the 9 (Chase Elliott) and the 19 (Martin Truex Jr.) had there at the end. Gave ourselves a shot by getting that restart and getting around them, but inevitably we just didn’t have a fast enough car after 30 laps.”

How do you make your peace with a third-place finish after dominating most of the day?

“We just continue to run top-three every single week. Every stage, every finish – we’re right there. We just need to get a little better. We’re barely missing it. We led a lot of laps and that’s because our competitors that we were racing against, had some issues. We had a good short run car that could keep us up front on the restarts. Overall, a lot to learn.”

CHRISTOPHER BELL, No. 20 Toyota Racing Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Finishing Position: 7th

Solid top-10 run and big improvement over last season. How was your race overall?

“I’m happy with the top-10 in our Camry. It was a very hard-fought race for us. We went from the back to the front to the back to the front – it felt like 20 times. We had moments where our car was a top-10 car and we had moments where our car was a 20th-place car. We hit there at the end and we were able to keep going.”
