John Hunter Nemechek Thanks a Trucker with Death Wish Coffee

Front Row Motorsports Announces Winner of Campaign Recognizing Frontline Workers

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 27, 2020) – During the summer months, Front Row Motorsports (FRM) teamed up with partner Death Wish Coffee for a new cause marketing campaign aimed at showing appreciation for truck drivers on the front lines who are working hard to deliver goods during the COVID-19 pandemic. The winning truck driver’s name will be featured on John Hunter Nemechek’s No. 38 Ford Mustang this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.

After receiving over 3,000 entries as part of the “Thank A Trucker” contest, FRM and Death Wish Coffee chose Jason Griffith as the winner. Based in Las Vegas, Nev., Griffith is on the road full-time, spending just a few days each month at home with his wife and twin six-year-old girls.

“It was a lot of fun to be involved in this campaign,” said Nemechek. “We received a lot of entries and our team really loved Jason’s story. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Jason and all other truck drivers across the country who are working hard and making difficult sacrifices – not just for their families, but for us as a nation as we grapple with the pandemic.”

“We could not be more thrilled with our winner and this contest,” said Mike Brown, CEO of Death Wish Coffee. “Jason is a model driver and we are proud to honor him on the No. 38 Death Wish Coffee car. We are also excited to give a nod to 100 other drivers who entered the contest whom will be receiving a pound of Death Wish Coffee and a $100 visa gift card from us as a thank you for being on the front lines during this pandemic. We are very grateful to all of our truckers and haulers for keeping the country moving during this time!”

The No. 38 Death Wish Coffee “Thank A Trucker” Ford Mustang will make its debut at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, November 1 for the “Xfinity 500.” The race will be broadcast on NBC and MRN at 2 p.m. ET.

Tanner Gray, No. 15 Ford Performance F-150

Tanner Gray returns to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway where he made his first career NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series start last year in the fall race. He finished 20th in his first start at the paper clip-shaped oval and completed every lap. This time around with a year of truck racing under his belt, he’s hoping for a more competitive finish in the No. 15 Ford Performance F-150.

Gray scored a top-10 finish last weekend at Texas, despite damage to his truck from an incident earlier in the race. It was a bit of redemption following unavoidable accidents which took him out of contention at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and Kansas Speedway earlier this month.

In 21 Truck Series races to date this year, Gray has four top-five, eight top-10 finishes, has led four laps and sits 13th in the driver point standings. Of his four top-five finishes, three of them have been third-place finishes all within the last few months.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 from Martinsville Speedway will be run on Friday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 200-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 50 and 100.

Gray on Martinsville: “I like racing at Martinsville, but it’s a tough track. We had a good run going last year and got wrecked coming to the line. I’ve learned a lot about the trucks and racing in this series since then, so I’m looking forward to going back again this Friday. It will be challenging, but fun.”

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Black’s Tire Ford F-150

Todd Gilliland returns to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, the site of his first NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series victory in the fall race last year. He is hoping to defend his race-winning title Friday night in the No. 38 Black’s Tire Ford F-150.

Gilliland has a solid record in the Truck Series at the paper clip-shaped oval. In five starts he has one win, two top-five, two top-10 finishes, one pole and has led 51 laps. Last year with 10 laps to go, Gilliland took the lead and never looked back, despite a caution which triggered a green-white-checkered overtime finish. Gilliland earned his first career win in the Truck Series in his 46th start.

In 21 starts this season, Gilliland has four top-five, nine top-10 finishes and has led 92 laps in the No. 38 Ford F-150 for Front Row Motorsports. He is 10th in the driver point standings.

Gilliland’s No. 38 Ford F-150 will be sponsored by Black’s Tire at Martinsville Friday. With over 50 retail locations and wholesale distribution throughout North and South Carolina and Virginia, their 800-plus employees have kept the Carolina’s rolling for the past 90 years.

Quick Facts:
Number of Truck Series Starts at Martinsville: 5
Best Start: 1st (10/27/18)
Best Finish: 1st (10/26/19)
2020 Driver Point Standings: 10th

Gilliland on Martinsville: “I have had this race circled on my calendar all season. Martinsville will always be special to me since I got my first win there, and hopefully Friday I can get my second win as well. My Front Row Motorsports team is bringing a fast Black’s Tire Ford F-150. It’s a tough track and hard to get a win there. A lot of things have to go your way, not just a fast truck. Last year I got caught in an accident late in the race, was leaking water and somehow still managed to win in an overtime restart. Patience is key, and a little luck goes a long way too.”

Current IMSA Championship Leaders Prepared for Final Sprint Race of the 2020 Season

Monterey, Calif. (October 27, 2020) – The No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R team will compete at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend for the penultimate round of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTeach SportsCar Championship calendar, the final sprint race of the season. Full-time co-pilots Renger van der Zande and Ryan Briscoe will once again be behind the wheel as the team takes on the challenge of tackling the iconic 2.238-mile, 11-turn permanent road course.

Earlier this month, the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R team extended their championship lead to the top of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Championship standings after a breathtaking victory at the 23rd Running of the Motul Petit Le Mans. As it has been all season, the championship fight continues to remain a closely fought contest with only 10 points covering the top three contenders.

The team enjoys an impressive history at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, including one victory, six podium finishes, four pole positions, and 269 laps lead. Both van der Zande and Briscoe will be looking to add to the team’s impressive statistics at the California based venue, as the championship chase intensifies in what has been a thrilling season of competition.

“I’m excited that we have extended our championship lead going into this weekend,” commented team owner Wayne Taylor. “The race is going to be between us and Penske. We had a fairly good race at Laguna Seca last year, it’s not our best track, the Mazdas and Hondas are suited well there. However, our team always makes miracles out of nothing as we saw at Petit Le Mans. I have ultimate faith in the whole team and that Ryan and Renger will do their job as well as they did at Petit Le Mans and Daytona. And Konica Minolta, Cadillac, AMETEK, and CIT continue to be fully supportive as usual.”

Practice for the Monterey Sports Car Championship will take place on Saturday, October 31st, with qualifying and the race both scheduled for Sunday, November 1st. The green flag for Round 8 of the Championship will fly at 4:05 pm ET, with LIVE race coverage TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.

RENGER VAN DER ZANDE, No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R
“We are going into the last two races with a big points lead, which we want to keep. Laguna Seca and Sebring have always been big races for Wayne Taylor Racing, so hopefully they will be again this year. I believe we have a good shot at doing well at both tracks. All that matters is scoring podiums or wins. I will give it my 110% for winning those races and winning the championship.”

RYAN BRISCOE, No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R
“Next up is Laguna Seca and we’ll be giving everything we’ve got to continue our championship run! I love Laguna Seca and look forward to heading there for the first time in our DPi Cadillac. The team has done a phenomenal job putting us in contention to compete for wins over and over again this year, and we’ll be shooting for nothing less than the top step this weekend!”

CORVETTE RACING AT WEATHERTECH RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA: On the Doorstep of a Championship

• First race for mid-engine Corvette C8.R at historic Monterey track
• Garcia, Taylor can wrap up GTLM title in No. 3 Corvette C8.R
• Gavin, Milner eager to recreate race-winning Monterey magic
• Corvette Racing with seven class victories at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
• Event rescheduled from original mid-September date

DETROIT (Oct. 27, 2020) – Corvette Racing continues to inch closer to writing a new chapter in its history as the program heads west to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the next-to-last round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The rescheduled Monterey Sports Car Championship at historic 2.238-mile, 11-turn WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca could very well serve as the coronation of Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor as GT Le Mans (GTLM) champions for 2020. The pairing have won five times this year in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R and hold a 28-point lead over fellow Corvette Racing teammates Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette.

If Garcia and Taylor end the weekend with at least a 35-point lead headed into the season-ending Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, they will wrap up their first championship together. Garcia has won three GT titles in IMSA competition and Taylor is a two-time champion in the prototype ranks. As a whole, Corvette Racing seeks its 13th Drivers title and 14th Team crown.

In the GTLM Manufacturers standings, Chevrolet enjoys a 16-point advantage. It only needs to have one of the Corvettes start Sunday’s race in Monterey and another start at Sebring to win its 13th GT title.

All four Corvette Racing drivers will have a successful collective history to fall back on at the circuit. Each of the quartet has at least one victory – Gavin with four, Garcia with three, Taylor with two and Milner with one. In addition, Milner was the fastest GTLM driver in last year’s race; he and Gavin won at the track together in 2012 – one of Corvette Racing’s seven class victories at Monterey.

Saturday’s opening practice will mark the first time at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the first-year Corvette C8.R. Technical in nature, the track surface typically is extremely tricky with a very limited amount of grip. It’s not too dissimilar from a track like Mid-Ohio, where Corvette Racing won in GTLM last month despite having not tested the C8.R at the circuit. Program engineers will consider the data and feedback gathered from that event when finalizing their baseline setups for Laguna Seca.

The mid-engine C8.R is based on the strong foundation of the 2020 Corvette Stingray with both developed simultaneously. There is a deeper level of technology transfer between the race car and production Corvette than ever before, which helps contribute to many of its advancements. As a result, the C8.R shares the highest percentage of parts between the production and race car than any previous generation.

Initial design and development on the Corvette C8.R – with Corvette Racing engineers working alongside Corvette production personnel – began more than five years ago with track testing starting within the last 18 months. Heavy emphasis on wind tunnel and simulation aided in the testing program.

The Monterey Sports Car Championship is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov.1 with same-day television coverage on NBCSN beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET. TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold will offer live streaming of the full race starting at 4 p.m. ET. In addition, IMSA Radio will broadcast the race on IMSA.com, which also will host live timing and scoring. The race also will air on XM channel 202 and SiriusXM Online 972.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It’s true that we are in a great spot in the championship heading to Laguna Seca, but our goal is to keep doing what we have been doing all year: put ourselves in position to win races if we can, and if not then maximize our points position. So we will go into the weekend expecting to contend and win this race. It’s another new track for the Corvette C8.R, but that has worked out well so far this year at Mid-Ohio and Charlotte. We have continued with our simulator work in preparing for this weekend to find the best possible setup for the first practice. I’m hoping we can continue our strong run and clinch the championship, but I also want to win another race this season.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It’s a big weekend for us in the championship, obviously. We haven’t tested at Laguna Seca. It’s a pretty hard track. But considering how well we ran at Mid-Ohio, which is another low-grip track, it shows pretty well for Laguna. We’ve done some simulator work already for this event – just some small developmental items. Mid-Ohio was very strong for us that it’s very promising as we head to Monterey. Leaving Mid-Ohio there were some things we wanted to try, so hopefully when we get there we will have some new run plans and can hit the ground running.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “We’ve found some great learnings and been very strong since coming back from lockdown. It shows with the amount of pole positions the car has had, the number of podiums and number of wins. We’ve managed to make the car very competitive and very strong in race conditions. Every time you go to Laguna Seca, it’s a challenge. You wonder how you are going to make the tire work and how we are going to get the most out of the car. But this Corvette is the best one we’ve produced, and it’s going to be the best car we’ve ever driven at Laguna. So we’ve already checked off a lot of those boxes. We have to see how the tires we have will work there with our partners at Michelin. I feel confident going there that we will be able to find a balance and a way to be fast.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Laguna Seca is pretty unique with the track surface. It’s super low-grip with all the sand that comes on the racetrack. It’s always a big challenge and trying to figure that out has never been easy. Now we go there with a new car where we haven’t tested, so that makes it even more of a challenge. But I’m excited to get the C8.R on the racetrack there. It’s a place where maybe we haven’t always been the best, so it will be fun to see what this new Corvette offers for us.”

Jordan Anderson’s ‘Race to Freedom II’ Chevrolet Locked and Loaded for Martinsville Speedway

Statesville, N.C. (October 22, 2020) – The “Race to Freedom” truck is back. Jordan Anderson Racing and A.E. Engine are thrilled to reveal the No. 3 “Race to Freedom II” Chevrolet Silverado that Anderson will drive in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series’ NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 on Friday, Oct. 30, at Martinsville Speedway.

Anderson, one of NASCAR’s most dynamic personalities and a rising star in the sport, will have U.S. LawShield, the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s #GUNVOTE voter registration project and GAT Marketing adorning Anderson’s vibrant black, white and red Chevrolet Silverado.

“Martinsville is a place where anyone can win if they make the right moves,” Anderson said. “You’ve got to be good at defending your position on the track. U.S. LawShield specializes in defending the rights of responsible gun owners across the country, so it’s a perfect fit to bring the ‘Gun Truck’ back this weekend. With the race being so close to election time, it’s going to be cool to drive a truck with #GUNVOTE on the hood. We are proud to partner with hard-working companies like GAT Marketing. Like me, they are in the fight to support our rights and protect our freedoms. They like to work hard and win big.”

With more than 80,000 fans across his engaging social media platforms, Anderson provides a fascinating level of access and delivers his sponsors millions of impressions every month from compelling social media content.

The “Race to Freedom II” truck allows all three partners to leverage their social media to expand the program’s online footprint. Each sponsor will be included in a comprehensive A.E. Engine content activation program including print, digital, YouTube and social media.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s #GUNVOTE project will adorn the No. 3 Chevrolet Silverado’s hood, while the U.S. LawShield logo will appear on the truck’s rear quarter panels. GAT Marketing can be found on the truck’s tailgate.

Live coverage of the NASCAR Hall of Fame 200 will be on Fox Sports 1(FS1), and on the radio at Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM Channel 90 at 8 p.m. ET.

SPONSOR QUOTES

U.S. LawShield

“U.S. LawShield® is very pleased to continue our partnership with Jordan Anderson Racing as part of a sponsorship package and support for the NASCAR Truck Series. We have great respect for what Jordan Anderson Racing has accomplished building a team from the ground up, pursuing excellence, never giving up, and of course, driving the ‘Race to Freedom Truck’. We look forward to celebrating his success on the track.”

Larry Keane, Senior V.P. and General Counsel, National Shooting Sports Foundation:

“With the 2020 election right around the corner, the resources provided by GUNVOTE and promoted on Jordan’s #3 hood during the Martinsville race are more important than ever. Anyone who supports our constitutional freedoms should follow Jordan’s lead and visit GUNVOTE.org, then cast an informed GUNVOTE on or before Election Day.

“GUNVOTE is a comprehensive voter registration program that we are excited to have prominently featured on Jordan Anderson’s #3 hood at the Martinsville Raceway. Anderson is a longtime advocate for our right to keep and bear arms, and the GUNVOTE logo on his hood sends a strong message to NASCAR fans to make sure they are informed voters who are ready to GUNVOTE on or before Election Day.”

Charles Anderson, CEO and Founder, GAT Marketing:

“We are excited for the opportunity to co-sponsor Jordan and the 2nd amendment truck alongside industry icons like US LawShield and the NSSF. At GAT Marketing, we have seen firsthand how our conservative pro-gun message will be affected in the future if we don’t take action now. We need to bring greater awareness to the significance of each and every vote within this election cycle. #gunvote

I’ve been a longtime fan of NASCAR and have learned to appreciate the hard work that goes into their daily grind. Like Jordan, I too have a team that backs me and supports our shared goals for success. Part of our strength stems from our belief in this country and the American dream. It’s an honor to be a part of this Freedom truck and to work with organizations that support our rights. We are proud to be part of this effort to raise awareness and encourage everyone to VOTE on Election Day. #gunvote.”

ABOUT U.S. LAWSHIELD

U.S. LawShield traces its roots back to 2009 when a group of Houston, Texas-based attorneys saw first-hand the injustice against law-abiding gun owners who were forced to legally defend themselves. They observed that these gun owners, who acted lawfully in self-defense, were at a significant disadvantage within the justice system. They watched these people face unwarranted hardships, loss of freedom and financial ruin in trying to defend themselves in what they felt was a rigged justice system. These passionate attorneys created what is known today as U.S. LawShield and its Legal Defense for Self-Defense Program now supports a community of members totaling over 500,000 strong across the United States. The company focuses on educating members in self-defense law; empowering them to handle critical life-threatening situations with confidence; and protecting them from potential injustices in the legal system after lawful acts of self-defense. www.uslawshield.com

It’s one of the many ways growers can work with their crop consultants in leading the field and leveraging the best agronomic information available to impact their acres. We know AJ is going to look great in Nutrien Ag Solutions green at Martinsville.”

A race not originally on his 2020 schedule with Kaulig Racing, Allmendinger will pilot the No. 16 Nutrien Ag Solutions Digital Hub in his final race of the 2020 NXS season at Martinsville Speedway.
