Roush Fenway heads north this weekend to the backyard of Ford Motor Company and Roush Industries, as the NASCAR Cup Series hits the 2-mile Michigan International Speedway for the first doubleheader in the track’s history. Overall, Jack Roush has 23 wins at MIS, including 13 in the NCS, the most of any track on the circuit for the Hall of Fame owner.

First of Two Doubleheaders in Three Weeks on Deck at Michigan

· NASCAR heads north to Michigan International Speedway for a doubleheader this weekend, the second of the 2020 season. Both events will run 312 miles (156 laps) at the 2-mile track.
· The Cup Series is coming off Sunday’s race from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the 20th points event of the season. After this weekend, four races remain in NASCAR’s regular season, with the playoffs set to begin at Darlington on Labor Day weekend.
· The starting lineup for Saturday’s race will be determined by a random draw within teams’ order in owners’ points. Newman will draw for a spot in the 13-24 group. Cars will line up Sunday based off an invert of the top-20 finishers from Saturday, with positions 21-40 lining up in their respective finishing positions from Saturday.
· Four weeks of NASCAR action were initially completed prior to the COVID-19 hiatus with races at Atlanta, Homestead, Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega, Dover and Martinsville postponed before the schedule later picked back up in mid-May.

· Newman powered his way inside the top-10 early in last weekend’s race from New Hampshire, before going on to finish 21st in the Guaranteed Rate Ford.
· Buescher finished 25th in the Fastenal Ford.
· Coca-Cola, longtime partner of Ryan Newman, makes its 2020 debut on the No. 6 this weekend at MIS. Newman also ran the Coca-Cola colors a season ago in the first race at Michigan, finishing eighth after starting 18th.

Michigan International Speedway serves as ‘home’ for Jack Roush and Roush Fenway Racing, located just an hour from Roush Industries in Livonia, Michigan. MIS has naturally been one of the organization’s most successful tracks on the circuit, with the team earning a total of 23 wins across NASCAR’s three major touring series.

I Said Welcome to Detroit City

In 213 NCS starts at Michigan, Roush Fenway has recorded 13 wins, 56 top-fives and 102 top-10 finishes with 2,452 laps led. Former driver Greg Biffle earned the organization’s most recent victory in June 2013 after starting 19th and leading 48 laps. Biffle’s win was also the 1,000th NASCAR victory for Ford Performance.

Roush vs. Everybody Else

Roush Fenway’s 13 wins in the NCS at Michigan are the most of any track on the NCS schedule. Five different drivers have earned victories for Roush Fenway at the two-mile oval with former drivers Mark Martin and Biffle both taking the checkered flag on four separate occasions. Roush Fenway drivers Matt Kenseth (two), Carl Edwards (two) and Kurt Busch (one) have also gone to victory lane for the organization in Michigan.

Consistency in the Motor City

Michigan ranks first overall among all tracks that Roush Fenway has competed on in the NCS in top-five finishes, top-10 finishes and in average finish among tracks that they have run two or more races. Roush Fenway has recorded 56 top-fives, 102 top-10s and has an average finish of 14.3 at the two-mile oval.

• Annett finished ninth in the first NXS road-course event of 2020 at Indianapolis on the Fourth of July.
• Road America’s 4.048-mile course was the site of the Iowa driver’s best road-course finish, a second in 2017.

• JRM at Road America: In 29 NXS starts in Elkhart Lake, JRM has scored one win, nine top fives and 16 top 10s. Justin Allgaier earned the organization’s lone victory at the 4.048-mile road course in 2018 after starting from the 11th position and leading 14 laps en route to the win.
• JRM on Road Courses: JRM has netted four wins, 29 top fives and 61 top 10s in 117 previous starts on road courses in the NXS. Ron Fellows and Regan Smith earned the organization’s first two road course victories at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in 2008 and at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in 2015, while Justin Allgaier went to Victory Lane at Mid-Ohio and Road America in 2018.
• Fitting Tribute: Michael Annett’s No. 1 Allstate Parts and Service Chevrolet will carry a special decal this weekend at Road America in honor of Chief Master Sergeant Darin Mauzy, Wing Command Chief, 158 Fighter Wing of the Vermont Air National Guard. JASON WHITE RETURNING TO PINTY’S SERIES

August 5, 2020. It has been a long wait for Sun Peaks, B.C. racer Jason White to get back in action after two very successful outings during Daytona Speedweeks. White posted top ten results in the ARCA Series and Truck Series races White has been on the sidelines due to the Covid-19 virus. Following this week’s announcement that the NASCAR Pinty’s Series would be racing at Sunset Speedway White seized the opportunity to get back behind the wheel.

When the NASCAR Pinty’s Series returns to action August 15th at Sunset Speedway in Innisville, ON White will return to a familiar partnership with DJK Racing and pilot the #28 Powder Ventures Excavating Dodge in the first event of the 2020 season.

“I couldn’t be happier” said White. “After running so well in Daytona in February, I was looking at a few different opportunities to run other events at Talladega and some others spots. Of course, everything came to a stop because of Covid-19 and I’ve been waiting for the right time to get back in action. This fits perfectly, it’s a chance to salute all those people who worked hard on the frontlines and give race fans some entertainment” said White.

Last season Jason White became the first ever driver from western Canada to reach 100 starts in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. “It was special” said White. “It worked out nicely that I could hit the 100th at Saskatoon, hitting that milestone in the west and having my family there to share in the night with me made it extra special.

The return to the Pinty’s Series for Jason White is also brings a return to the DJK Racing family where there is a comfort and familiarity. “It’s great to have Jason back with us this season” said DJK Racing principal DJ Kennington. “He’s a great guy to work with, he knows how to take care of the car and he’s competitive. A perfect fit” he added.

Though he hasn’t been on track for several months, White has been very busy honing his racing skills. “I’ve been on my sim rig every day for months” said White. “It’s been a great way to stay sharp and race some fantastic tracks against really good competition” he stated. “But nothing beats the real thing”.

Now that he’s locked in for this Pinty’s Series race at Sunset Speedway White will also look for additional events in which he can participate. “I’m waiting to see what other Canadian dates are confirmed and then hopefully we can do more racing here and I’ll monitor what’s happening in the U.S. as well to see if that is a possibility” explained White.

Buescher Historically at Michigan International Speedway

·         Buescher will make his ninth and 10th Cup start at Michigan this weekend, where he holds an average finish of 21.4. Buescher’s best result at the 2-mile track came back in 2017, where he finished sixth at the August event.

·         Most recently, Buescher put together two solid runs a season ago, crossing the line 16th last June followed by a 14th-place finish in August.

·         Buescher also has three Xfinity Series starts at Michigan, recording three top-10 results. He finished seventh in the No. 16 entry in 2013, and followed that with a 10th-place effort in 2014, and fourth in 2015.

Luke Lambert at Michigan International Speedway

·         Lambert will call his 15th and 16th Cup events at MIS this weekend, where he has an average finish of 13.6 with four top-10s.

·         Lambert’s best finish of fourth came with Ryan Newman in 2017, and he finished 10th and eighth with Jeff Burton in back-to-back races in 2013.

·         Lambert also called one Xfinity event with Elliott Sadler in 2012, finishing 11th.

INDIANAPOLIS (Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020) – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway today issued the following statement:

“It is with great regret that we announce the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place on Aug. 23 without fans. This tough decision was made following careful consideration and extensive consultation with state and city leadership.

“As dedicated as we were to running the race this year with 25 percent attendance at our large outdoor facility, even with meaningful and careful precautions implemented by the city and state, the COVID-19 trends in Marion County and Indiana have worsened. Since our June 26 announcement, the number of cases in Marion County has tripled while the positivity rate has doubled. We said from the beginning of the pandemic we would put the health and safety of our community first, and while hosting spectators at a limited capacity with our robust plan in place was appropriate in late June, it is not the right path forward based on the current environment.

“We encourage Hoosiers to continue making smart decisions and following the advice of our public health officials so we can help get Indiana back on track.

“Penske Corporation made a long-term investment to be the steward of this legendary facility. While we were very excited to showcase the investments and enhancements we have made in the guest experience, we know we have reached the right decision. As much as Roger Penske and everyone associated with the ‘500’ wanted to race with fans this year, we ultimately reached this conclusion in partnership with the state of Indiana and city of Indianapolis.

Reason #1: Getting Them Outdoor (and keeping them there)

If you’re going to ask your kids to give up the social dopamine and comfort of the online world, you better have something equally great to barter. What’s a better trade than a dirt bike and an open track for a kid? Motocross will have your kids riding and enjoying the outdoors all the time, it may actually become a problem keeping them home, but that’s a discussion for another day. 

Reason #2: Treasurable Memories And Bonds

It may come as a surprise, but motocross is renowned as a family sport. Generational motocross love is a frequent sight in this world. In fact, when parents are asked why they let their kids into motocross, bonding, and experience sharing usually tops the list. You will surely have a lot of firsts: first time geared up, first ride, first crash, first race, first loss, first win, and much more. ADVANCE NOTES

First of Two Doubleheaders in Three Weeks on Deck at Michigan

· NASCAR heads north to Michigan International Speedway for a doubleheader this weekend, the second of the 2020 season. Both events will run 312 miles (156 laps) at the 2-mile track.

· The Cup Series is coming off Sunday’s race from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the 20th points event of the season. After this weekend, four races remain in NASCAR’s regular season, with the playoffs set to begin at Darlington on Labor Day weekend.

· The starting lineup for Saturday’s race will be determined by a random draw within teams’ order in owners’ points. Newman will draw for a spot in the 13-24 group. Cars will line up Sunday based off an invert of the top-20 finishers from Saturday, with positions 21-40 lining up in their respective finishing positions from Saturday.

· Four weeks of NASCAR action were initially completed prior to the COVID-19 hiatus with races at Atlanta, Homestead, Texas, Bristol, Richmond, Talladega, Dover and Martinsville postponed before the schedule later picked back up in mid-May.

Newman Historically at Michigan International Speedway

· Newman will make his 38th and 39th Cup starts at MIS this weekend, where he has an average finish of 16th with two wins. He’s finished in the top-10 10 times, six of which were inside the top-five dating back 37 events.

· Newman’s pair of wins came in back-to-back races in 2003 and 2004. Newman led 32 laps en route to his fifth of eight wins in 2003, holding off Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart. The next victory he led 22 laps after starting fourth to earn the win under yellow.

· He also has one career pole, which came in 2005, and an average starting position of 13.8. Overall he’s started inside the top-10 on 16 occasions at MIS.

· Dating back six races at the 1.5-mile track, Newman has five top-15 finishes, including an eighth-place run in the first event last season. He followed that with a 12th-place run in August.

· Newman also made four Xfinity Series starts at MIS, winning his first two events (2001, 2005) with a combined 126 laps led.

Scott Graves at Michigan International Speedway

· Graves will be atop the pit box for his ninth and 10th Cup races at MIS. In eight prior starts, he has a best finish of eighth with Newman last season. His best three finishes all-time at the track have come in the last three races – including an 11th-place run in 2018 and 12th-place finish last August with Newman.

· Graves also won an Xfinity event at the 2-mile track in 2016, defeating Kyle Busch to lead the final two laps en route to one of his three career NXS victories with Daniel Suarez.

Last Time Out
Newman powered his way inside the top-10 early in Sunday’s race from New Hampshire, before going on to finish 21st in the Guaranteed Rate Ford.

Where They Rank
Newman is 26th in driver points after 17 points races in his 2020 campaign. In owners’ points, the No. 6 is 21st.

On the Car Saturday
Coca-Cola, longtime partner of Ryan Newman, makes its 2020 debut on the No. 6 this weekend at MIS. Newman also ran the Coca-Cola colors a season ago in the first race at Michigan, finishing eighth after starting 18th.

On the Car Sunday
Castrol returns to Newman’s No. 6 machine for Sunday’s race at Michigan. The high-performance lubricant brand signed as the team’s official oil partner in January and will serve as the primary for select races in 2020.
