CONCORD, N.C. (May 19, 2011) – Emmy-Award nominated actress and NASCAR fan Angie Harmon will serve as the honorary pace car driver for the 27th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 21 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In addition to leading the field of NASCAR stars in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, Harmon will take part in various activities around the speedway, including attending the drivers meeting, prior to the main event.
Best known for her starring role as Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael on NBC’s Emmy-Award winning drama “Law & Order,” Harmon developed a successful modeling career in the 1990s before turning to acting. In addition to “Law & Order,” she has also appeared on “Baywatch” and was featured in the movie “Agent Cody Banks.” She is currently starring in the TNT crime-drama series “Rizzoli & Isles.” Harmon is a native of Highland Park, Texas.
Harmon and her husband, former New York Giants defensive back Jason Sehorn, are regular attendees at NASCAR events around the country. The couple has previously been to races at Charlotte Motor Speedway and even spent Valentine’s Day last year at Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500.
Harmon and Sehorn have three children: Finley Faith, Avery Grace and Emery Hope.
“I can’t wait for the chance lead the field to the green flag for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race,” said Harmon. “I’m a big NASCAR fan and the All-Star Race is such a unique event, it will be an honor to drive the pace car. Plus how cool will it be to see the speedway’s new HDTV! It’s sure to be an exciting night all around.”
