David Starr Looking for Lady Luck

After two straight disappointing finishes David Starr and the SS Green Light Racing team look for Lady Luck to help them turn their fortunes around in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Smiths 350 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Indianapolis-based building enclosure specialist ASI Limited will sponsor Starr’s Toyota Tundra for the Smiths 350 along with Las Vegas landmark Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower with associate support from Zachry.

“Last year I had a pretty good run going and we got a flat tire towards the end of the race,” Starr said. “I really love racing at Las Vegas, you always remember where you got your first victory and I’m looking forward to going back to try for another.”

“I really like how hard this team works, the stops have been good and they never give up,” David continued. “Its just a matter of time before we put it all together.”

Crew Chief Jason Miller feels they will have a strong truck this weekend. “We recently purchased a Toyota Tundra from KBM and the SS Green Light guys have been working hard to get it ready for Las Vegas. It’s TRD chassis number 100, I think it’s a real nice piece and we can’t wait to get it to the track and see what we can do with it.”

Starr has ten career NCWTS starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with three top-five finishes and five top-ten finishes including his first of four career victories back in 2002. David’s average start is 13.0 and his average finish is 12.7.

“Its unfortunate that we got spun and caused a caution last week at New Hampshire. Jason made a great call saving a set of tires and we were working towards the top-ten when we were wrecked on the last lap,” Starr added. “Jason is better than we’ve shown, I’m better than we’ve shown and this team has shown me a lot of potential over the last two weeks. Let’s hope that we can put that bad luck behind us in Las Vegas.”

The Smiths 350 is the 240th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 260th career start for Starr in the Truck series.

42 trucks are on the preliminary entry list for the Smiths 350.

Practice for the NCWTS Smiths 350 will be Saturday, September 25th at 9:00 a.m. (12:00 Eastern) with final practice 10:45 a.m. (1:45 p.m. Eastern) and qualifying at 3:15 p.m. (6:15 Eastern.) The race will be shown live on SPEED TV at 6:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. Eastern.) It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 128-XM104.

David, along with teammates Jason White and Tony Jackson Jr. will participate in a free autograph session at the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino on Friday, September 24th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
