With probation over, fireworks may fly at MIS this weekend!

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch ready to “Have at it!” when probation ends tonight at midnight

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 14, 2011) — Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch are off of probation Wednesday just in time for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 at Michigan International Speedway, a track that has had its share of driver confrontations.

The probation and fines came as a result of a scrape May 7 in Darlington. On pit road after the race, Harvick stopped his Chevrolet in front of Busch’s car, exited and headed towards Busch. After Harvick took a swing at his window, Busch drove off to the pits, knocking Harvick’s car aside in the process.

After being warned by NASCAR early in the race at Pocono, Busch and Harvick still don’t seem like they’re ready to get along.

Now, with the punishment behind them, Harvick and Busch are rolling into Michigan this week ready to “Have at it” again.

The wide, sweeping corners and long straightaways of MIS may lead to more aggressive racing, which is sure to have Busch and Harvick right in the thick of it.

Last August, Harvick notched his first Sprint Cup Series victory at MIS, and would love nothing more than to add another one to the list. This year he has been off to a hot start, and his fifth place finish at Pocono last week has him currently sitting fourth in the points standings.

Kyle Busch finds himself sitting fifth in the point standings and is in the middle of a milestone hunt. He comes to MIS with 97 career NASCAR wins in all series and could inch closer with victories in the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races this weekend at MIS. He is trying to reach a milestone of 100 wins in the Sprint Cup (21 wins), Nationwide (48 wins) and Truck Series (28 wins) combined.

Busch’s career numbers at MIS show it’s about time he won here again. Busch, hasn’t won at MIS since the 2004 Nationwide Series race, and since 2007, he has a combined 6 top 3 finishes between the both NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series races.

Will Harvick and Busch join the likes of Jimmy Spencer and Kurt Busch in 2003, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Carl Edwards in 2006 and most recently Ryan Newman and Joey Logano in 2010 as notable confrontations that have happened at MIS over the years? We’ll see what happens in five days!
