Tommy Baldwin Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Advance – Kentucky Speedway

Race: Quaker State 400

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: 18 of 36

Track: Kentucky Speedway

Track Length: 1.5 mile

Dave Blaney will hit the Kentucky racetrack in the No. 36 Big Red Chevrolet this weekend for the Quaker State 400. Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) will make their debut at Kentucky Speedway.

KENTUCKY DEBUT – TBR will join the NSCS in its debut at Kentucky Speedway. The Sparta, Ky. racetrack previously held NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series events but will hold NASCAR’s top series for the first time.

BLANEY AT KENTUCKY – Blaney made one start at the 1.5-mile track in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2007 for Braun Racing. The Hartford, Ohio native started 18th and finished 15th in his sole start at the speedway.

BIG RED – The Texas-based beverage company will adorn the No. 36 Big Red Chevrolet this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Big Red, with its distinctive flavor and widespread distribution in 44 states, was one of the nation’s fastest growing soft drink brands in 2010. Big Red, Inc. subsidiary ALL SPORT Body Quencher was the primary sponsor of the No. 36 Chevrolet at Martinsville Speedway and Infineon Raceway and an associate sponsor at Talladega Superspeedway this season.

KIDS EAT FREE – TBR will compete to feed America’s families again this weekend, as Golden Corral returns to the No. 36 Big Red Chevrolet. If the No. 36 Big Red Chevrolet finishes in the top-10 in the Quaker State 400, kids eat free (with an adult purchase) on Monday, July 11th. Golden Corral will also donate $5,000 to the DAV.

CHASSIS NO. 293 – Blaney will debut the No. 293 chassis this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. TBR purchased the chassis from Richard Childress Racing, and Jeff Burton most recently drove the chassis.

LAST RACE RECAP: COKE ZERO 400 – High-hopes ended in disappointment for the No. 36 Golden Corral team. Dave Blaney looked to repeat this season’s superspeedway success in the event at Daytona International Speedway. Blaney started the 400-mile race from the 40th spot. As he did in both superspeedway races earlier this season, Blaney hung back for the beginning of the race. By lap 40, Blaney radioed that he was possibly having engine issue. Then, an incident on lap 47 relegated the team to a 39th-place finish.

IN THE POINTS – The No. 36 Big Red team is now 33rd in NSCS owner points, 45 points ahead of the No. 21 in 36th and two points behind the No. 32 in 32nd. Blaney is 31st in NSCS driver points, 66 points behind David Gilliland in 30th and seven points ahead of Casey Mears in 32nd.

LUKE & ASSOCIATES ON BOARD – Luke & Associates will run associate logos on the No. 36 Big Red Chevrolet for the duration of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season. Luke & Associates, Inc. is one of the largest providers of healthcare for the U.S. military and is rapidly expanding into national and local healthcare systems. Headquartered on the Space Coast of Florida, Luke formed in 2004 and has grown exponentially in the last six years. For more information, visit lukeassoc.com.

LIGHTHOUSE MISSION – The Lighthouse Mission logo debuted on the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway and will be present for the entire 2011 season. TBR has teamed up to help the Long Island based-charity build awareness and raise funds for Lighthouse Mission. For more information on Lighthouse Mission, visit www.lighthousemission.net.

Dave Blaney Quotes:

ON RACING AT KENTUCKY – “I think Kentucky will be fun. I raced there once before. It’s a lot like Kansas but different at the same time. I’m just excited to get back to the racetrack. We’re running a new car, so I can’t wait to see how it does.”

Tommy Baldwin Quotes:

ON THIS WEEKEND – “I am cautiously optimistic for this weekend at Kentucky. Everyone is on a level playing field going into the weekend. We’ll be running a new car, so hopefully we will run a little better than we have been at the 1.5-mile tracks.”
