JASON BOWLES, AMERICAN MAJORITY NO. 81 BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY PREVIEW

(MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA) August 21, 2012 – After back-to-back weeks of road racing for Jason Bowles and the American Majority Racing No. 81 team, the series returns to its roots of short-track oval racing this weekend. “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile” will play host to the NASCAR Nationwide Series this Friday night with the running of the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Jason on Bristol…..“The new surface at Bristol is really going to even out the playing field going into the race this Friday night. I think everyone is interested to see what the racing will be like. We ran okay there in the spring so I’m hoping we can make some improvements to our American Majority No. 81 this time out.”

New surface = more wrecks??…After the spring race at Bristol, the track was modified to narrow up the groove and create closer racing. The extra banking on the top groove has been removed since the last race and eliminated the topside from being the preferred line. Will the new surface bring the racing at Bristol back to what it was before? We will find out this weekend.

Meet Jason this week at Bristol…..Jason will be taking part in the NASCAR drivers autograph session this Thursday night at Food City Race night in Bristol, TN. Come out and meet Jason and countless other NASCAR drivers from 5 – 7PM EST. On Friday, Jason will be giving fans rides in 2013 Toyota’s at the Toyota exhibit from 1:00 – 1:30pm. The exhibit is located in the Earnhardt Campground area.

2/3 through the season…..The 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series has 22 races in, and 11 to go. Even after some hard luck in Montreal, the MacDonald Motorsports team is still enjoying the best season they have ever had. Jason sits 15th in the driver standings and just 27 points outside of the top-10. The American Majority No. 81 is now 23rd in the owner standing, but only 34 points out of 17th. Bowles has recorded 11 top-20 finishes this season and earned $492,471.

Jason’s thoughts on Montreal…..”We were just biding our time out there and preparing for what we knew would be a wild finish. The car was driving really well and then we had that brake failure on the right front that ended our shot at a strong finish. I really have to thank my American Majority team though as they just never give up, even on the bad days.”

Watch the race…..Fans can catch the race from “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile” this Friday night. The race will air live on ESPN at 7:00PM ET.
