Bank of America 500 Pit Note #2

Dueling Davids Can Earn One Million Dollars – In an afternoon press conference held in the Media Center at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Front Row Motorsports NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers David Ragan and David Gilliland announced a unique opportunity to earn $1 million from sponsor Glory Foods for the Feeding America campaign.

If either Ragan or Gilliland score the victory in Saturday night’s Bank of America 500, Glory Foods will donate the $1 million to the Feeding America program. This marks the fourth and final race as the team’s primary sponsor in 2012. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief agency.

“This means the world to me, you know, as a father of two children,” said Gilliland. “A staggering one in six children go to bed hungry every day, which is incredible. Just being a part of the Feeding America campaign is very special. Hopefully, David or I can win and bring that million dollars to Feeding America. We are excited to bring awareness and get people to the web site.”

“There’s a lot of racing going on and this is a great promotion,” said Ragan. “I’m happy to be a part of it. Glory Foods coming on board and wanting to make that donation with all of the things they are doing around the track this weekend to raise awareness is very important. When you learn the facts, this affects a lot of kids and families around here. We made a donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina here a while back and Glory Foods donated a lot of canned goods. A lot of fans have been impacted by this.”

Dan Charna, president of Glory Foods, noted, “The biggest key is letting people know that all of these children out here are hungry.”

Yvonne Douge, director of corporate partnerships for Feeding America said, “Our goal is to provide food to those that are food insecure. One in six children go hungry, and we are trying to eliminate hunger in the United States and let them know of programs that can help them.”

Glory Foods has donated more than 54,000 pounds of food with 43,000 pounds going to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
