Welcome Back… Nelson Piquet Jr. heads to Martinsville Speedway this week, for the 19th race of the 22-race season. Piquet Jr. has had three previous starts at NASCAR’s smallest track, and claimed his best finish in the spring of this year when he captured his first top-10 of the 2012 season.

This Week’s Silverado…Piquet Jr. and the No. 30 Qualcomm/Bell Helmets team will unload chassis TMS-225 for this weekend’s event at Martinsville Speedway. TMS-225 is a brand-new chassis for the Turner Motorsports team. TMS- 225 briefly saw action on the track last week for a day of testing at the Motor Mile Speedway in Fairlawn, VA.

“I’ve been ready to return to Martinsville Speedway for a long time now. I won’t lie, it used to be one of my least favorite tracks, but when I returned here for my third start, I felt as if I got the hang of this kind of track. I was really happy with my sixth-place finish in the spring, but I think I can do much better this time. We’re bringing a brand-new chassis and I was very impressed with it after our test day last week. My team has worked very hard and deserves another win. I think this weekend should be it.

Now appearing…James Buescher and his teammates, Nelson Piquet Jr. and Miguel Paludo will be taking part in a question and answer session at the Chevy stage in the Fan Midway on Saturday afternoon at 12:15 p.m.
This Week’s Silverado…The No. 31 Great Clips Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-202. This particular chassis finished third the last time it was in competition, which was at Martinsville Speedway.
Last Race Recap…Buescher and the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet team took to the Superspeedway of Talladega. Buescher led the field to the white flag, before getting shuffled out of the pack. Managing not to shuffle too far back, Buescher hooked up with another championship contender to post a solid third-place finish and maintain the one point gap behind the leader in the championship point standings.

“I’m happy that the off-weeks are over and we can get back to racing. Martinsville is a tough track to get a hold of; it’s a totally different animal. Coming off a top-three the last time we were there, I feel good about going back. I’m just looking to keep track position and keep it up front.”

Small-Time Racing…Miguel Paludo heads from the largest track on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule to the smallest for the second visit of the season to Martinsville Speedway. Paludo has three previous starts at the 0.526-mile paperclip, compiling an average finish of 15th and a best finish of 12th (spring 2011). Paludo has impressively completed 100-percent of the laps in his three previous visits to the aggressive short track, and has led five laps in pursuit of the grandfather clock trophy.
Hometown Boy…Martinsville Speedway is close to the heart of No. 32 crew chief Jeff Hensley, who was born and raised in the same town as the 65-year-old oval. Hensley has three wins as a crew chief at his hometown track, one in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (fall of 1993) and two in the NCWTS (spring and fall of 2007).

This Week’s Silverado…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will unload chassis TMS-207 for this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway. TMS-207 made its debut at the spring race in Martinsville, earning a 17th-place finish after Paludo sustained damage in a late-race restart. The chassis’ best finish of 10th was earned at Iowa Speedway in September.
Diabetes Fact of the Week…World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes community and is held on November 14th of each year. It was introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to the alarming rise of diabetes around the world. While the campaign lasts the entire year, the day itself marks the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922.
Previous Race Recap…Paludo appeared to be on his way to a stellar finish at NASCAR’s longest and wildest track, Talladega Superspeedway, before a wreck in the final lap ended his chances of earning his first career NCWTS win. Paludo’s patience and skill kept the No. 32 Duroline Chevy in contention for the duration of the event until he fell victim to “the big one” with the finish line in sight, relegating him to a disappointing 19th-place finish.

Miguel Paludo on driving at Martinsville Speedway –
“Martinsville is definitely a tough track that requires a lot of patience, but it’s one I enjoy racing at. I feel good going into this weekend; we’re bringing back the truck we brought here in March, which was brand new at the time. Now we know what it’s capable of after racing it a few times, and we were able to get a top-10 with it in Iowa. Martinsville is a place that means a lot to [crew chief] Jeff Hensley, and my guys have put in a lot of work getting prepared for this weekend. During our time off, we did a test at [0.416-mile track] Motor Mile Speedway and we felt good with the results we walked away with. We’re in the final stretch of races now, so our number one goal is getting a win before the season is out and doing everything we can to earn the best possible position in the final point standings.”
