No. 27 Hillman Racing Chevrolet News and Notes:
TRUEX BACK BEHIND THE TRUCK WHEEL: Ryan Truex will step back behind the wheel of the No. 27 Hillman Racing Chevy this Friday evening at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). This will mark his second career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start and first series start at the recently-paved Phoenix track. Truex made his Truck Series debut at Martinsville Speedway and was on tap for a strong finish before a failed transmission ended his day early.
JERSEY ON THE MIND: New Jersey and home is always on the mind of. The recent events of Hurricane Sandy ripped apart the Jersey Shore and his hometown of Mayetta, N.J. Older brother Martin [Truex Jr.] and Ryan are encouraging fans to step up and donate to assist with relief efforts. Fans can contribute to the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation at www.martintruexjrfoundation.org where funds will go to relief efforts in the Garden State.
PAST EXPERIENCE IN THE GRAND CANYON STATE: This weekend Truex will compete at Phoenix for the first time in the Truck Series, but it will not be his first start at the one-mile speedway. Truex has three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts with Michael Waltrip Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing. His best finish came in the fall event in 2011 where he started and finished in the eighth spot with Joe Gibbs Racing.
CHASSIS 007: The No. 27 Hillman Racing crew will unload chassis MHR-007 for Friday evening’s 150-lap event. This chassis last saw track action at Martinsville Speedway with Truex behind the wheel.
No. 27 CHEVY IN 2012: Truex is among 10 different drivers to step behind the wheel of the No. 27 Hillman Racing Chevy in 2012. Other drivers who have taken the wheel this season include: Jeb Burton, Ward Burton, C.E. Falk, Brandon Knupp, Stephen Leicht, Ryan Lynch, B.J. McLeod, Travis Miller and Cole Whitt.
SO FAR IN 2012: As the 2012 NASCAR season nears an end, Truex has made nine starts in the Nationwide Series with three different teams. He kicked off the season with Tommy Baldwin Racing at Daytona International Speedway. He made six starts in the No. 18 and 20 with Joe Gibbs Racing between March and July. Since then he’s piloted the No. 99 for RAB Racing at Richmond International Raceway and Dover International Speedway.
