KANSAS SPEEDWAY’S INFIELD CARE CENTER PRESENTED WITH TEAM WORK AWARD AT ANNUAL NASCAR SUMMIT

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Jan. 8, 2012) – 2013 is already an award winning year for Kansas Speedway as NASCAR’s Medical Liaison Department awarded Kansas Speedway’s Infield Care Center with the 2012 Team Work Award at the NASCAR Summit in Concord, N.C. yesterday. The award is given to an infield care center that demonstrates excellent team work on a daily basis as well as excels during the most medically challenging event.

“It’s great to see our Infield Care Center staff recognized for their hard work and everything they do to ensure that every NASCAR driver, crew member, official and anyone else that may have to make a visit to the care center throughout a race weekend has the highest care possible,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “Coordinating with multiple people throughout a race weekend can be difficult but our infield care center staff is truly second to none.”

“We believe in taking care of each patient with the highest level of care, whether it is a driver, a crew member or a fan. It is that focus by our physicians, nurses and other health care professionals which results in great outcomes at the infield care center and first aid stations,” said Bob Page, president and chief executive officer of The University of Kansas Hospital.

Kansas Speedway enjoys a long standing relationship with The University of Kansas Hospital which provides staff for all of Kansas Speedway’s medical needs during its race weekends. Since Kansas Speedway opened in 2001, the hospital has served as the Official Health Care Provider.

Dr. Dennis Allin, Medical Director, and Richard Blevins, Nursing Director, accepted the award on behalf of Kansas Speedway.
