Ambrose Looks to Continue Good Luck at Vegas Track

Hopes to Push Stanley Ford into Top-10 in Points

CONCORD, N.C. (March 5, 2013) – With an average finish of 12.8 at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Marcos Ambrose looks to tally another top-10 finish this weekend in the No. 9 Stanley Ford. Ambrose and the team have posted two 18th-place finishes this season and currently hold the 12th spot in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points.

Looking for his first top-10 of the season, the mile-and-a-half Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the perfect spot for that to happen. Ambrose posted his best Vegas finish of fourth in 2011 and finished 13th in this race last year.

Comments from Stanley Ford Fusion Driver Marcos Ambrose:

“Vegas has always been a good track for us. We usually have good speed and lady luck tends to be on our side. I hope that continues this weekend. Our Stanley team really has a good opportunity to get into the top-10 in points. This time of the year, you can lose points very quickly. We haven’t had a great finish yet, but we haven’t had a terrible one either. We just need to get a little better.

“I know we can, too. We did well at the Charlotte test in the offseason, so I look forward to seeing our speed at a mile-and-a-half track this weekend. I’m sure everyone has improved as well, but I think we can still be the leaders. Our guys are working hard, and we have a lot of smart guys preparing our Ford Fusions. We’re still learning the new cars, but I don’t think we’re behind. In fact, we may be ahead of some.

“This is a big weekend for everyone. This will be our first mile-and-a-half race, and with 16 races at intermediate tracks, it’s important to have a good program at these tracks. I feel good about it and am ready to get to the track.”

Comments from Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer on Vegas:

“We have a new chassis for this weekend, and we’re pretty anxious to get to the track and test. We’re going to spend a lot of time in Las Vegas this weekend and hopefully learn a lot. This car is still new to everyone. I don’t think it’s been defined yet, and we’re still finding out new things.

“So far, we’re not pleased with the race results, but overall, we are not complaining where we are in points. We are right there and have the opportunity to only improve. It’s going to be key to keep getting the best out of our races. This season moves quickly, and we need to make sure we’re not making mistakes and improving where we can.”

Chassis History:

The No. 9 team has prepared chassis No. 840 for Vegas. This is a new chassis that the team built in the off-season.
