Hal Martin on Bristol Motor Speedway
This was your first time racing at Bristol Motor Speedway, what did you think of the track?
Martin replied, “I had a lot of fun racing on this track. Bristol Motor Speedway is referred to as ‘the last great colliseum’ and I can definitely see why. This track packs a lot of intensity in its compressed half mile concrete oval racing surface. After making my first few laps in practice I was winded. I guess I had forgotten to breathe.”

That looked like a hard hit, are you ok?
“I’m fine” replied Martin, “the fact that I was able to walk away from such a hard frontal impact like that is a testament to the technology behind NASCAR in their rigorous standards to keep us safe.”

What did you learn from this race that you can take with you to other events?
“Although I am a rookie and I haven’t seen many of the tracks I will be racing on this season, I’ve learned that my skills as a driver are improving. I am able to get on a track for the first time and learn the track as well as communicate effectively to my crew to help them get the car where it needs to be for race time. Even though this isn’t the finish we had hoped for, I learned a lesson about patience and that I can’t assume anything about other drivers preformances. I’m only in control of my race car and no one else’s.”
Looking Forward:
This week, Hal Martin will travel to Fontana, California to compete in the Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway. During the week, Hal will participate in Toyota Motorsports Day which will take place at Toyota Headquarters.
