CHEVY NSCS AT INDY: Chevrolet Again to Lead NASCAR and GRAND-AM Fields at IMS

Camaro ZL1 and 2014 Corvette Stingray to Pace NASCAR, GRAND-AM Races This Weekend

DETROIT – For the second consecutive year, Chevrolet will pace four races during the Kroger Super Weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And for the 20th consecutive year, a Chevy will pace the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at the famed Brickyard.

A Camaro ZL1, which brings supercar levels of performance and technology to the sports car segment, will pace the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series races. A 2014 Corvette Stingray, the quickest, most powerful and most fuel efficient standard Corvette ever, will pace the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series event. A Camaro ZL1 also will pace the weekend’s Continental Tire Series race.

“Pacing races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is very important to Chevrolet,” said Jeff Chew, Marketing Manager for Chevy Racing. “Chevrolet is proud and honored to once again be part of this very special weekend at IMS, where we have had the honor to pace every NASCAR race, dating back to 1994. And, road racing fans will get a chance to see the 2014 Corvette Stingray pace a Grand-Am race for the very first time. It should be a very exciting weekend for sports-car enthusiasts.”

ESPN SportsCenter host and Indiana University graduate Sage Steele will drive the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 as the honorary pace-car driver ahead of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Crown Royal Presents the Samuel Deeds 400 at the Brickyard Powered by BigMachineRecords.com on Sunday, July 28.

The Camaro ZL1 is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged Chevrolet small block V8 that delivers 580 horsepower and 556 lb.-ft. of torque, and has a top speed of 184 miles an hour.
