Since its inception, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has always provided fans with some of the best, action-packed racing among NASCAR’s top-three elite series. When the series started in 1995, there was one driver that began to immediately place his name in the record books and today continues to be one of the faces of the series as he continues to make history, Ron Hornaday. This week Hornaday will make history when he makes his 337th-career start in the series passing Rick Crawford as the driver with the most series starts. While this may be one prominent stat for Hornaday, he has a long list of accomplishments that have already secured him in the record books as one of the best in series history. Hornaday leads all drivers with four series championships (1996, 1998, 2007, 2009), the most wins at 51, the most top-five finishes at 151, the most top-10 finishes at 221 and the most years with consecutive poles at seven. Setting the series a blaze in 1995, Hornaday made sure everyone would remember him as he won the series first pole at Phoenix International Raceway and earned his first-career top-10 finish with a ninth-place finish. He finished the inaugural season with six wins (out of 20 races), four poles, 10 top-five finishes, 14 top-10 finishes, led 944 laps and finished third in the series point standings. Since that year, Hornaday has undoubtedly placed his name in the history books as one of the most successful drivers of the Truck Series and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

For the second week in a row, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will be in the spotlight on Sunday afternoon, this week returning to the .875-mile Iowa Speedway for stop number 15 of the 2013 season. Earlier this season teams unloaded in the summer heat of July for the ninth race of the season where Hornaday and the No. 9 NTS Motorsports team recorded a strong fourth-place finish. The finish marked Hornaday’s 150th-career top-five finish. The team returns this week to the Hawkeye State looking to improve on their finish from earlier this year and end the 200-lap event with their first win of 2013. In total, Hornaday has six starts on the short track recording three top-five finishes, three top-10 finishes and has led 22 laps.

Hornaday and teammate Brennan Newberry are both scheduled to participate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Autograph Session on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 4:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. ET in the Fan Zone located in turn four of the infield.

This week Hornaday will be behind the wheel of the No. 9 NTS Motorsports/Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet Silverado for the Fan Appreciation 200 Presented by New Holland at Iowa Speedway.
