Joey Coulter Cleared for Takeoff with GMS Racing for 2014 Truck Series Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 13, 2014) – GMS Racing announced today that driver Joey Coulter has joined the organization to pilot a full-time entry in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Coulter, who enters his fourth full season in NASCAR, will compete for the 2014 championship behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Silverado.

“I can’t wait to get this season started,” said Coulter, who will participate in the Truck Series test session at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Monday. “The GMS Racing guys have been putting in a lot of hard work the past few weeks to get us prepared for this year and I truly believe we can compete for the championship. That is our goal and we expect to be in hunt all season.”

Beginning with the 2014 season, GMS Racing enters a technical alliance with Chevrolet and Richard Childress Racing (RCR). In addition, Coulter’s team will utilize Earnhardt Childress Racing Engines to provide top-notch horsepower. GMS Racing acquired the assets of RCR’s truck program, marking a reunion for Coulter in equipment, as the 23-year-old drove a Chevrolet Silverado for RCR for two seasons (2011, 2012), posting one win, three poles and 28 top-10 finishes.

Coulter’s program will be led by crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz, who brings experience in both the Truck Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series to the team.

“GMS Racing is proud to have Joey (Coulter) driving one of our Chevrolet Silverados this season,” said Nic Moncher, team manager. “He has become a proven talent week in and week out and we believe under the guidance of Jeff (Stankiewicz), the duo will become a dynamic threat on and off the track. The alliances GMS Racing has formed with Chevrolet and RCR along with Joey’s driving ability will only help solidify our presence at the track each week.”

Truck number and sponsor details will be announced at a later date.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season kicks off with the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 21.
