WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Lexar Team

Sonoma Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) made a trip to the twist and turns of Sonoma Raceway for the first of just two road-course races on the 2014 NSCS schedule.  Jamie McMurray and the Cessna team captured the pole for the second straight year for the Toyota/SaveMart 350.  McMurray had one of the strongest cars throughout the 110-lap race and completed the day with a strong fourth place finish.

Kentucky Stats:  In just three starts at Kentucky Speedway in the NSCS, McMurray has completed 732 of 801 (91.4%) laps of competition.  He has one top-five finish that came with last year’s runner-up result.  He also has an average start of 24.7 and average finish of 17.7.

Memory Check: The No. 1 Chevy SS driven by Jamie McMurray will feature the Lexar paint scheme at Kentucky Speedway.  Lexar boasts one of the most comprehensive portfolios of high-performance, award-winning products in every major flash memory category, including memory cards, card readers, and USB flash drives.  The paint scheme includes an array of colorful USB flash-drives across the car.  Lexar Products include industry-leading memory cards for photography and video, card readers, high-performance USB flash drives, and memory cards for mobile devices.  Lexar products are available worldwide at major retail and e-tail stores, and at www.lexar.com.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

Sonoma Recap: In Kyle Larson’s first visit to Sonoma Raceway the weekend started off on a high note for the Northern California native but ended with a disappointing finish after brake and power steering issues kept Larson from competing for a top spot during the last half of Sunday’s Toyota/SaveMart 350.  The team started the weekend off with a very good Target Chevrolet SS, posting fast times during practice and transferring to the final round of knockout qualifying to earn a third place start for Sunday’s race.  After starting the race in third, Larson maintained a position in the top-10 for much of the first half of the race before brake and power steering issues caused him to fall back through the field, finishing on the lead lap in 28th place.

Larson at Kentucky: Larson made his first-ever start in one of NASCAR’s three national series at Kentucky Speedway in the June 2012 Camping World Truck Series race, finishing in 10th place.  In addition to the Truck Series start, Larson has two other starts at Kentucky in the Nationwide Series, one of which resulted in a top-10 finish.  This weekend will be his first visit to Kentucky in the NSCS car.

Wildcat Welcome: Mark Jacobs, jackman on Larson’s No. 42 Target Chevrolet, is no stranger to competition in the Bluegrass state.  Jacobs, a Florida native, was a three-year starter at defensive tackle for the University of Kentucky Wildcats from 1996-1998.  He left UK with 114 tackles, 9 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.  After trading in his pads and helmet, Jacobs found his way to NASCAR via a UK supporter with ties to motorsports.  Jacobs has been in NASCAR since 2000 and has worked on the race teams of Bill Elliott, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr., and Juan Pablo Montoya.

A Shopping Bullseye:  If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.  For all your last minute needs and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.  The nearest Target is located at 1100 Hansel Avenue, Florence, Ky. 41042 and can be reached at (859) 371-2245.  Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
