Carlos Contreras Rejoins Rick Ware Racing For Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (July 1, 2014) – – Officials from Rick Ware Racing (RWR) announced today that Carlos Contreras, the first NASCAR Mexican-born driver will rejoin the team for Friday’s Subway Firecracker 250 from Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Contreras, who is poised to make his 100th career NASCAR national series start later this season with Rick Ware Racing, will receive plenty of support in his return to the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

RaceTrac will adorn the hood of the No. 87 Chevrolet Camaro as the primary marketing partner in the third and final restrictor plate race of the season. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, RaceTrac has been serving guests since 1934 and now operates more than 370 convenience stores locations in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas. Additionally, Contreras will garner support from new sponsor, Tacolist.com, the Hispanic version of Craigslist for the United States and Mexico.

“I’m looking forward to Daytona this weekend,” said Contreras, who made his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start in 1999 at Auto Club (Calif.) Speedway. “This is a great opportunity for me and Rick Ware Racing to have a strong finish under the lights on the Fourth of July for our sponsors, RaceTrac Convenience Stores, 38 Special, Voli Vodka, Global Aircraft Solutions and Tacolist.com.  It’s going to be an experience I will never forget!”

“RaceTrac is proud to partner with Rick Ware Racing, and to support driver Carlos Contreras at the Daytona Nationwide race on July 4th,” said RaceTrac spokesperson Ashleigh Collins. “At RaceTrac, we live for fun every day, so partnering with the No. 87 RaceTrac Chevrolet Camaro is a perfect way to deliver on that promise.”

Contreras’s monumental moment this weekend from the “World Center of Racing” will also come with a special message. With the support of Tacolist.com, he will also encourage other race fans to join him in his pledge not to “text and drive.”

“It’s so easy to get distracted texting and driving,” Contreras added. “But, at what cost?  It’s important to know the consequences of texting and driving and I just hope race fans will join me in being responsible when it comes to the road.”

Car owner Rick Ware is looking forward to being a part of Contreras’ trip to Daytona.

“We are excited about having Carlos back in time for Daytona, one of my favorite tracks,” Ware said. “I’m looking forward to having a great finish with him, RaceTrac and all of our RWR partners.”

In addition to RaceTrac and Tacolist.com, 38 Special, Voli, Lilly Trucking and Global Aircraft will serve as associate marketing partners for the 16th Nationwide Series race of the year, Contreras’s 94th NASCAR National series start.

Following Daytona, Contreras is schedule to pilot a Rick Ware Racing car at New Hampshire Motors Speedway, Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and the 2014 season-finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway in November.

The Subway Firecracker 250 is set for Friday, July 4, 2014, otherwise known as Independence Day. The second NNS race from Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway this season is scheduled to air live on ESPN 2, the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
