Justin Boston Tops Four Venturini Drivers at Winchester Speedway

Haley, Coughlin & Townley Claim Top-10 Finishes

Concord, NC (July 7, 2014) – Venturini Motorsports (VMS) and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards returned to the Midwest over 4th of July weekend returning to Indiana’s historic Winchester Speedway for Sunday’s Herr’s Chase the Taste 200.

Marking the official halfway point of the ARCA season VMS returned to Winchester Sunday afternoon with a solid driver lineup looking to deliver the team’s first win on the speedy half-mile, high-banked track. VMS’s typical four car effort was led by drivers John Wes Townley, Justin Boston, Cody Coughlin and fifteen year old J.J. Haley.

In a strong combined showing by all VMS teams it was Justin Boston who ultimately topped teammates with a third place finish in a quick, one hour and fifteen minute 200 lap event.

Boston who struggled to find speed during Saturday’s practice sessions qualified sixth and finished third in the main event racing his familiar No.25 ZLOOP-JACO Toyota.

Boston, who started the race in the outside third row, rebounded nicely after getting tagged in the left rear quarter panel during a lap one incident involving Anderson Bowen (No.77) and Kyle Weatherman (No.99). Escaping with cosmetic damage only, Boston was able to make it to the pits for new tires allowing him to quickly return to race competition, albeit at the rear of the field.

Staying focused, the 24-year old driver impressively made his way back through the field putting him within striking distance at the end of the race. After a late race caution flag flew the stage was set for a five lap shootout between race leader Mason Mitchell, Brandon Jones and Boston who made his way back up to the third position after recovering from the lap one incident. Following tight on the restart Boston was sporting a car with speed to win but the quick 16 second lap times proved too much to overcome crossing the finish line third behind rookie Brandon Jones, who made a last lap – turn four pass on Mitchell for victory.

“I thought we could have had a shot at it in the end,” Boston said. “I thought the two of them (Mitchell and Jones) were both going to wreck and we might pick up the win. Either way, the Venturini guys gave us a good car. I didn’t think it was going to be when we first got here, but (crew chief) Kevin Reed made some changes and really improved the car.”

Boston’s third top-5 of the season highlighted a strong overall team performance as VMS finished with four cars in the top-10.

Youngster J.J. Haley coming off his record setting performance at Elko Speedway two weeks ago finished sixth driving his No.66 Braun Auto Group-Braun Ability Toyota followed by Cody Coughlin (No.55 JEGS Toyota) in the 7th position and John Wes Townley (No.15 ZAXBY’s Toyota) in the 8th position.

The ARCA Racing Series has a week off before returning to the Midwest with the Ansell ActivArmr 150 at Chicagoland Speedway on July 19th.
