CASSILL 21st AT CHICAGOLAND

JOLIET, Ill. – Landon Cassill finished 21st Saturday night in the EnjoyIllinois.com 300 Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.
The finish kept Cassill in 11th place in Nationwide driver standings.
Cassill qualified 24th in the Gerber Collision and Glass Chevrolet fielded by JD Motorsports with Gary Keller. He raced as high as 18th but settled into the 20s for most of the race, finishing three laps behind the leaders.
“It wasn’t the kind of night we wanted, but we got some good laps in,” Cassill said. “It gave us some good numbers for this kind of track. It will make the car better next time.”
Rookie Chase Elliott won the race, his third victory of the year. He also took the point lead.
The series next races July 26 in one of its biggest events of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
