I BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT

Rookie Respect: Although Kyle Larson won’t be making a run for the NASCAR Sprint Cup over the next 10 races, he will be continuing to race for rookie of the year honors at season’s end.  Currently, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate has a 52-point lead in the rookie point standings and has been the top-finishing rookie driver in 18 of 26 races, finishing inside the top-10 on 11 occasions.

Serving The Troops: The first McDonald’s drive-thru was opened in 1975 in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Soldiers from nearby Fort Huachuca were forbidden to get out of their cars in Army fatigues, so McDonald’s solved the issue by installing a drive-thru for their customers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonald’s Team

Richmond Recap: Richmond International Raceway (RIR) played host to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) for race No. 26 and just two spots remain available to make the field of 16 for the 2014 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.  Jamie McMurray and the Cessna team were faced with a win-only scenario to make the Chase field.  Starting from the 15th position McMurray quickly raced his way to the top-10 and where he maintained position throughout the 400-lap race, before crossing the finish line with a fourth place finish.

McMurray at Chicagoland: In 11previous starts at Chicagoland Speedway (Chicago), McMurray has led 76 laps, earning two top-10 and one top-five finishes.  He has an average starting and finishing position of 22.2 and 22.4, respectively.  McMurray started from the pole in 2010, his best start at the 1.5-mile track and best finish of fifth place came in that same race.  McMurray has completed 2,779 of 2,940 (94.5%) laps of competition at Chicago.

Golden Arches:  There’s no reason to go hungry while visiting Chicagoland Speedway this weekend.  McDonald’s has several locations within five miles of Chicagoland Speedway.  The closest restaurant is located at 508 E. Cass St. Joliet, IL  60432

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

Richmond Recap: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) made its second stop of the season at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) for the final race before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup grid was finalized.  Larson entered the weekend only 24 points behind the last car in the Chase, but realistically needed a win to make the Chase.  Larson started the weekend off with two good practice sessions and secured a top-10 start for the race during qualifying.  While Larson’s Target Chevy looked strong at times during the 400 lap race, he would ultimately finish in 11th place.

Larson at Chicagoland: This weekend will be Larson’s first start at Chicagoland in the NSCS car.  Larson has three previous starts at the track in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), compiling an average starting position of 24.3 and an average finish of 15.7.  Larson most recently raced at Chicagoland during the NSCS off-weekend in July, where he finished in third place.

Cruisin’ with Colgate: For the second race in a row, Larson’s NNS No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro will feature the new Colgate® Enamel HealthTM toothpaste, which is uniquely formulated to replenish natural calcium and polish your enamel for stronger, healthy enamel.  With its rough, worn-out surface, Chicagoland will be a great place to highlight the toothpaste, given that it helps to fill in rough spots and gently polish the enamel surface.

A Shopping Bullseye:  If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.  For all your last minute needs, and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.  The closest Target is located at 2370 E Lincoln Highway, New Lenox, Ill. 60451 and can be reached at (815) 462-6001. Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
