CHASTAIN HOPES TO CONTINUE QUICK START

LAS VEGAS – Two races into the Xfinity Series season, rookie Ross Chastain sits ninth in the driver point standings.

A ninth-place run at Daytona started Chastain’s season with a bang, and he finished 24th in Race Two last week at Atlanta.

Now it’s on to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, like Atlanta a fast 1.5-mile track. The Boyd Gaming 300 is scheduled at LVMS Saturday.

“We’ve gotten off to a pretty good start,” Chastain said. “We didn’t get the finish we wanted last week at Atlanta, so we’ll try to step it up a notch this week. I hope we can be talking about another top 10.”

The race will mark Chastain’s Xfinity Series debut at LVMS, but he has raced twice at the track in the Camping World Truck Series.

Practice for the 300 is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. (ET) Friday. Qualifying is set for 12:45 p.m. Saturday, to be followed by the race at 4 p.m.
