ADVANCE NOTES

Sadler at Phoenix International Raceway

Elliott Sadler will make his 13th NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) this Saturday afternoon. In Sadler’s previous 12 starts, he has one win (2012), four top-five and six top-10 finishes at PIR.

The veteran driver also has 19 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at PIR with one top-10 finish and 17 laps led.

Sadler has not finished worse than eighth at PIR in his previous four NXS starts at the track.

Last Week’s Race

Sadler finished in 13th-place on Saturday’s NXS race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Sadler started the race in the 13th position and battled handling issues for the first 100 laps of the 200 lap race. After falling back from his starting position, Sadler and his No. 1 OneMain Financial crew made the right adjustments and Sadler methodically picked off one car at a time. In the closing 10 laps of the race, Sadler’s Mustang started posting the fastest lap times on the track.

2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Point Standings

Following last week’s race, Sadler moved forward two positions from 11th to ninth in the NXS Driver Point Standings. After three races, Sadler is 37 points behind the leader.

This Race Last Year

Sadler had a great qualifying run and started the Phoenix race from the sixth position. Sadler raced his way up to the front and battled in the top-five for the majority of the race. With late race cautions, Sadler was caught up in a slower group and was not able to break free and move forward. Sadler maintained his top-10 position and finished the Phoenix race in the sixth position.

Race Coverage

TV coverage for this week’s NXS race will be on FOX at 4:00PM ET.

QUOTE WORTHY

Sadler on Racing at Phoenix International Raceway:

“This weekend at Phoenix will be a perfect example of which race teams have their ducks in a row this early in the season. Many teams can run well at higher speeds, but teams that can change their set ups and adapt to this one-mile race track, will be the ones to watch at the beginning of the year. As a team, we’ve been looking forward to Phoenix, and I personally enjoy racing at PIR a lot. Hopefully, we can get a solid qualifying position Saturday morning and battle for the “W” on Saturday afternoon.”
