Roush Fenway’s Chris Buescher to make Sprint Cup Debut this Sunday in California

FONTANA, Calif. (March 20, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Chris Buescher will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) debut this Sunday at Auto Club Speedway driving the No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford for Front Row Motorsports.

Buescher, who drivers the No. 60 Roush Fenway Mustang in the Nationwide Series is currently second in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) point standings. He will fill in for Brett Moffitt, who will take over the No. 55 car for Brian Vickers on Sunday.

“I’m really excited to make my first NASCAR Sprint Cup start,” said Buescher. “Obviously it’s under unfortunate circumstances and we send our thoughts and prayers to Brian (Vickers). But it’s great to be able to get into another Ford Performance car and be able to make my first start here at Auto Club Speedway.

“It’s been a wild beginning to the day,” added Buescher. “But the guys at Front Row Motorsports are working really hard to work through the situation. We’ll put a full effort into our XFINITY effort and use that knowledge on Sunday when we get in the Cup car.”

Buescher was 29th fastest on Friday morning in his first career NSCS practice. Qualifying is set for 7:50 p.m. ET.

Buescher will join Roush Fenway teammate Greg Biffle in making his Sprint Cup debut in Fontana. Bifflle drove to a solid 13th-place finish in his first Cup event on April 28, 2002.

Buescher made his first career NXS start in April of 2011 in similar fashion, filling in for Trevor Bayne at Richmond. He finished 17th in the race.

Buescher will drive the No. 60 Fastenal Ford in Saturday’s NXS race.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is set for Sunday (March 22) at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised live on FOX.
