STECKLY LEADS MOST LAPS AGAIN BUT COMES UP A FEW LAPS SHORT

Sunday June 14, 2015, Vallee-Jonction, QC:  Steckly headed to Autodrome Chaudiere for the second event of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season with hopes of a top finish to keep him near the top of the point standings.  Making his 100th start in the series (one of only three drivers to make all 100 starts) he hoped to be on the top rung of the podium to celebrate. But after leading the most laps for the second race in a row he came up a few laps short of the finish.

The Canadian Tire Canada’s Garage Dodge was very quick right from the start.  Steckly was at the top of the charts for both practice sessions and laid down a lap in time trials good enough for the 6th starting position.  “We messed up a little on our time trials but we know the car is good as we practiced on old tires and were posting times as quick as other teams who had put new rubber on.  We will be good for the race.”

At the drop of the green flag for the Budweiser 300, Steckly was on a mission.  He gradually picked off the five competitors in front of him and on lap 109 took over the lead.  After a competition caution at lap 153 for tires and fuel, the Canadian Tire Dodge lined up on point again.  Steckly would continue to lead until lap 265 of the 300 lap event when a small part failure caused them to finish a disappointing 16th.  “We know we build great cars so that’s a positive,” said Steckly after the race.  “Sometimes you can do everything right and something small like this takes you out.  We have been the quickest and led the most laps on both a road course and an oval this year so our day will come – just not today.”

The 22 Racing Team have a week to get ready for the inaugural NASCAR event at Sunset International Speedway in Innisfil, ON next Saturday June 20th.

Scott Steckly and 22 Racing Team are supported by Canadian Tire, MAXIMUM Tools, Mobil 1, Erb Group, AW Millwrights, Reefer Sales & NOCO Lubricants.
