ADVANCE NOTES

Sadler at Road America

Elliott Sadler will make his fifth NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at the Road America this Saturday afternoon in Elkhart Lake, WI. In Sadler’s previous four starts at Road America, he’s recorded one top-five and three top-10 finishes. Last year at the 14-turn road course, Sadler started 11th and finished ninth.

Previous NASCAR XFINITY Series Race

Sadler finished 31st during last Friday’s NXS race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang started from the eighth position and maintained his track position in the top-10 for the first 100 laps. With 50 laps to go in the 300-lap race, Sadler connected with the No. 62 car coming off Turn 4. The collision resulted in Sadler’s car hitting the outside wall, forcing him to come down pit road. Sadler’s team repaired the car as quick as possible and sent the damaged No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford back out with 15 laps remaining in the race. Sadler only made a few laps, but could not run full speed with his damaged car. With four laps remaining in the race, Sadler realized he could not gain any more positions and decided to park the car in the garage on Lap 296.  When the checkered flag waved, Sadler was scored in the 31st position.

2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Point Standings

Following the NXS race at Bristol, Sadler remains in fifth-place, in the NXS Driver Point Standings. After 22 races, Sadler is now 82 points behind the leader.

QUOTE WORTHY

“This Saturday afternoon my No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang will run its last road-course race of the 2015 season. Road America is a unique track with elevation changes and many technical turns. I’ve finished ninth two years in a row and last year we ran the second half of the race in the rain. Last year’s finish was disappointing, because I had to come down pit road to fix a flat tire in the closing laps. I’m ready to get back to Road America and make the last “right turns” of the season. Hopefully, we bring home Roush Fenway Racing’s first road-course victory of the 2015 season.”
