Biffle Finishes Duel 1 Eighth; Starts Daytona 500 15th

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 18, 2016) – Greg Biffle and his Roush Fenway teammates started at the rear of the field for the first of two 60-lap Duel’s to set the field for the Daytona 500 due to changing a rear gear after qualifying. The trio worked together to keep up with the draft throughout the race. In the end, Biffle crossed the finish line eighth with an intact Daytona 500 KFC Nashville Hot Ford. The eighth-place finish lines Biffle up 15th for the Daytona 500.

“The car was pretty fast,” said Biffle. “I wish we would have had a little bit more time to race with those guys because I think we could have got up there and led it. My car was pretty racy and there wasn’t really a lane open to get anywhere, so I learned a little bit and had a lot of fun. Most importantly, we’ve got this 500 car.”

The No. 16 team had to change a rear gear on the KFC Nashville Hot Ford Fusion, which caused them to have to start the Duel from the back of the field. Biffle’s Roush Fenway teammates had the same change and the three of them started from the back together. They were able to draft and work together to come back through the field.

Biffle had a fast KFC Nashville Hot Ford but couldn’t get the track position to make a move towards the front. With the greater picture of securing a solid starting position in the Daytona 500 in mind, Biffle held his ground in the outside line and crossed the finish line eighth.
