RAY BLACK JR. GEARING UP FOR BATTLE AT BRISTOL

NASCAR Driver Enjoys Meeting Race Fans

FLAGLER BEACH, Fla.  (April 13, 2016) – Everyone knows that NASCAR racing has one of the most passionate fan bases, and NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) driver Ray Black Jr. has gotten to experience that loyalty firsthand as he has progressed through the sport’s rankings. As the series gets set to visit Bristol Motor Speedway, a favorite track amongst fans, the driver of the No. 07 ScubaLife.com Chevrolet looks forward to continuing to meet fans at every race stop.

“NASCAR has some of the rowdiest, hard core and loyal fans out there,” stated Black. “It has been great getting to know them over the past couple of years. Fans in this sport are weekend warriors! It’s not like an NFL or MLB game where you just get one day of tailgating and a game. These people come out for the entire weekend. It’s a lifestyle to them.”

Since starting his career in NASCAR, Black has always taken a direct, personable approach when it comes to meeting fans at the track each weekend. He’s done everything from racing young fans in go-karts to competing in cornhole tournaments against them at their campsites.

“I really enjoy getting out there and hanging out with fans throughout the weekend!” explained Black. “We raced some young fans at Gateway Motorsports Park’s go-kart track last year and had a lot of fun with them. This year we’ve gotten in the habit of seeking out fans at the track campsites when we have some off-track time and playing cornhole against them. It’s a great way to really get out there and get to know fans away from just a short meeting in an autograph line.”

“Fans have been really accepting and supportive of me from the start,” he continued. “They recognize me and what I’m trying to do and then go tell their friends about me and have them get involved. I’m really thankful for all that they do throughout the season.”

Black will be looking to continue building his fan base as the NXS makes their first stop at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. He has one previous start at the short track from last August where he finished 21st in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. This time around Black and his NXS competitors will face a new challenge at Bristol, as the race will be divided into two heat races and a main in conjunction with the new Dash 4 Cash format.

“This race at Bristol is going to be a challenge with the new format, but I’ve always had fun with challenges,” said Black. “It’s cool to see NASCAR bring an extra level of excitement to racing and I think the fans will really enjoy this new format.”

The Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 is scheduled to go green on Saturday, April 16 at 12:30 p.m. ET.  The race will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 and can be heard via the Performance Racing Network (PRN).
