Positive Payload 2019 Winter Winners Announced

$4,000 in Grants Awarded to Hardworking Non-Profits

PAOLI, Pa. (January 31st, 2019) – AmericanTrucks.com (AT) setup the Positive Payload program to support non-profit organizations using pickup trucks in field work that leverages the building trades. This January, the aftermarket auto parts retailer has selected two more charities to receive a $2,000 award through their grant program. Established in 2017, the list of organizations benefiting from the program has grown to include Habitat for Humanity’s Philadelphia chapter, and Water Mission International.

Habitat Philly has repaired 500 homes and built 215, directly impacting more than 1,700 people since it launched as a regional, independently chartered, affiliate of the well-known Habitat for Humanity organization in 2003. Families in need of assistance partner with Habitat to commit sweat equity hours in lieu of a down payment, and they purchase their homes or repair services through affordable loans. Habitat’s fleet of trucks is essential for all programs in order to get supplies and staff between sites and warehouses. AT sees this type of work as an extension of the community it serves through its business. Hardworking builders and service leaders need equally hardworking parts for their equipment and trucks.

Since 2001, Water Mission has used innovative technology and engineering expertise to provide access to safe water for more than 3.6 million people in 55 countries. Trucks are vital to the work of the organization. When a water project is implemented, trucks are used to deliver equipment and technology to a community in need. Terrain is often rugged and only a truck can be used to navigate the many miles to individual communities. Additionally, during a disaster relief effort, trucks are driven through flooded waters to remote areas where people desperately need safe water. This type of work, while different than that of a construction organization like Habitat, shares the use of knowledge and skills to impact communities with hands-on workmanship. Another cause AT is proud to stand behind.

The AT team extends sincere congratulations to all the Positive Payload grant recipients for 2019 as it looks forward to awarding two more organizations in the summer. Visit https://www.americantrucks.com/positive-payload.html to learn more and apply for the next round.
