Five of Seven … Tyler Ankrum, driver of the No. 18 LIUNA Chevrolet heads down south to Lincoln, Ala. for the fifth race of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) Chase at Talladega Superspeedway. Ankrum and crew chief Mark Hillman has been able to put together some decent runs here in the NCTS 2026 Chase but all while battling more adversity as they have throughout the season. The young driver still remains 10th in the playoff standings and the goal for the upcoming two races (Talladega & Martinsville) are connecting perfect points days for the No. 18 group.
Superspeedway Racin’ … The San Bernardino. Calif. native is no stranger to the superspeedways as he has totaled 14 starts combined at NASCAR’s two most daunting tracks, Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Super Speedway. Ankrum’s best finishes at these monster tracks came back in 2023 for a seventh-place effort at Daytona and just last season at this event in Talladega where he rallied to a sixth-place finish at the 2.66 mile tri-oval superspeedway. Between the two venues, Ankrum has scored three top-five and eight top-10 results and plans to stick to these high results Friday evening for the Love’s RV Stop 225.
Spoiler Highlights … Ankrum and the No. 18 team are happy to welcome LIUNA local contractor Charps, LLC. Charps is a specialty industrial and energy contractor founded in 2017 that focuses on the construction, maintenance, repair, and fabrication of oil, gas, and midstream pipelines. They focus on what matters with a crew that treats every weld, dig and upgrade like it’s their own.

Tyler Ankrum Quote:
“Talladega is for sure a wild card in this game. The fight is not over for this No. 18 LIUNA team and we need a solid points day these next two weeks which is possible. Anything can happen at these superspeedways so we just need to stay on our toes and stay out of the mess. Hard to believe we are two races away from the final race of the season but we are going to keep our heads held high and the momentum up. We have a large group from the LIUNA OVSS Region coming out along with many local contractors so pretty excited to hang out with those guys and hopefully give them a great day at track.”
