Quicken Loans Race for Hereos 500 | November 15, 2015

Final West Coast Stop…This weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) is the final short-track race of the 2015 season. While Allgaier has a penchant for short tracks, PIR hasn’t been so kind to him in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). His best finish at the 1.0-mile track is 18th, in the spring of 2015. In this year’s spring race, Allgaier was running in the top 10 late in the race, but unfortunately he slipped up into the upper groove and lost several positions in the closing laps. In nine starts at tracks 1.0-mile or less this season, Allgaier has one top 10 and five top-20 finishes. In 11 XFINITY Series (NXS) starts at PIR, Allgaier has two tops 5s, and six top-10 finishes with 17 laps leds.

Golf Superintendent Show…Allgaier will appear and sign autographs at the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association trade show on Tuesday, November 17, from 4-7 p.m. EST. The Myrtle Beach, S.C. appearance is open to registered conference attendees.

Texas II Race Recap…Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) last weekend was the second-to-last mile-and-a-half track remaining for the NSCS this season. The only pre-race track activity took place last Friday at TMS after Saturday’s track activity was canceled due to a wet track. Allgaier completed practice and qualified the Texas Lottery Chevrolet 43rd after a mechanical issue. After several early cautions followed by long green-flag runs, Allgaier brought the Texas Lottery Chevy home 28th for HScott Motorsports.

Justin Allgaier on Phoenix International Raceway:
“Phoenix [International Raceway] is one of my favorite tracks, right behind Bristol [Motor Speedway]. It’s one of the shorter tracks and it gives us drivers the chance to be really aggressive behind the wheel. The driver makes much more of a difference at the short tracks. Qualifying is always difficult at Phoenix with the sun starting to go down. It’s hard for us to see off of the corners, and it’s difficult for the spotters too, but that makes it unique. The track has a sold-out crowd and that always makes for a great environment with all of the fans cheering. It’s also the last race before the Championship Round, so that adds extra intensity for everybody. BRANDT Professional Agriculture is on the car for these final two races of the season. It’ll feel good to be back to wearing the familiar BRANDT red. I still owe them a top-10 finish, and if there’s any track I can do it at, it would be Phoenix.”

Crew Chief Steve Addington on Phoenix International Raceway:
“It’s crucial to get a good starting spot at Phoenix [International Raceway]. It’s not a very long race and it usually has some long green-flag runs. Justin has improved each time he’s gone to Phoenix, and I expect nothing different this weekend.”
